Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

The disparity with how the Nightfall feels might be Light level. Unless you bought a ghost from the speaker and got a good class item drop, you probably aren't 170.

I have 170 on two dudes and it seemed to make a difference. Could be placebo, though!

So I'm doing the Armsday task, but once I complete them I see no where to turn the in? Do I get to keep the weapons or is this something that will only unlock on the 15th?

I soloed the nightfall pretty easily after I got to 170

I soloed the nightfall with all my characters when the update dropped, the last one with my titan was defo easier after I got the upgraded ghost and class item, doesn't help when you dont get the upgraded ghost and class item before hand like I did for warlock and hunter!!

warlock was 150 and was a real pain. Titan was 169

The moment the test is completed you get rep with the weaponsmith. you can delete the weapons as soon as they say complete.

This speaks to the major disconnect that much of Destinygaf has with those of us who maybe enjoy the game but aren't overwhelmingly huge fans of Destiny - Value for many of us doesn't really come from the fact that you are willing to replay the content you bought for hundreds of hours, but how much actual new content you are being given. This can matter both in relation to expansions/DLC in general, and in relation to the the amount of expac content relative to the amount of content in the base game. By either of those metrics, $40 for the new content in TTK (1 new planet-type zone, 4 strikes, etc), isn't exactly a bargain.

This guy gets it.
I was lucky enough to get the Taken King plus all the previous DLC for 40 bucks.. Now that is a fantastic value and it's the main reason why I've decided to jump back in after quitting the game in December.

Thats really not clear at first that you have to delete it after. I went back to him assuming i had to turn it in, you know, like everything else in destiny for the passed year.

I really like the design of the new weapons that the Gunsmith has for Arms Day. I'm jonesing for some TTK loot now.

The way the guardians hold them and how they're positioned on screen seems different too and I like it. Less space taken up.

I keep seeing everyone saying to dismantle them after completion.

Why aren't they worth keeping? They perform just fine for me in crucible.

If you want to bump your gunsmith rep, youll need to do this over and over. Keeping them takes up a slot, and its one less new gun you can use to do it.

I'll be getting it for $40 too due to the Gamestop promotion. It's the only reason I'm getting TTK day one, because I don't have the first DLC (and thus can't just buy the $40 digital verison) and was going to wait until I could get the Legendary edition for $40 or so in a month or whatever.

OH yeah, I can I just mention how INCREDIBLE the Hakke pulse rifle sounds? Goodness that gun is satisfying to look at, shoot, and listen to. Hakke fo lyfe.

So just found the abandoned quests tablet and I started a couple of them. Does this mean I have to redo the entire story quests just to get them out of the way?! damnn..

I like the levelling changes, I've gone from 24 to 31 in a day and have finally been able to do some stuff I've been locked out of like Prison of Elders. I think I forgot to pick up the key from the final boss because I couldn't open the large loot chest :'((((

The levelling and gearing up at Max level is more like a proper MMO now which is much more palatable.

So how far behind will I be if I just pick up the Legendary Edition having not played it in a really long time. I have a hunter at lvl 24 and thats it.

Yep, the first batch of free white armory weapons put to shame pretty much every legendary weapon in year 1 and even a good deal of the exotics.

Youll be lvl 24 when you begin but can easily get better gear from the dlc included in the legendary edition.

Also gaf is willing to carry people through raids if you want.

You may want to wait until the 15th so that you can get experience from them.

Spawning on the dreadnought map is fucked. I spawned next to enemies three times in a row.

What game mode?

Oh so researching gun just raises the gunsmiths level? I wasn't sure what to do with it after. I figured you had to like trade it in or something.

The boss doesn't drop it, you need a Treasure Key.

They've really done horrible things to the Hand Cannons.

As cool as the new exotics sound - there's just no way these things can compete in PvP anymore.

:(

Update on the emblem thing. Bungie fixed the wording on the post on their forum.

Now it says only patrols won't get retroactive rewards:

"We're aware of an issue where Patrols and Faction-specific Quests are not granting the expected rewards upon completion. These rewards will be granted as expected for these activities starting on 9/15/2015. Patrols completed before this time will not retroactively grant rewards.

They just edited it again:

Faction-specific Quests will be able to be completed at a later date."

As a reminder to people doing the gunsmith make sure to complete the nightfall before doing any of the weapon bounties. If you do, you'll just hit rank 1 with the gunsmith thanks to the rep bonus.

And what good does that do? There are no weapons this week so you just might as well reach rank1 next week

Sure you can, BUT you can't put them in the vault for some reason. And they are white weapons, so surely they will be shit-tier come next week :D

nightfall and weekly had me a little more shook than the norm for sure last night

not sure whats up
I was under light level. Last night for my nightfall

Level 32 nightfall, recommended light level 1600, and I was a level 34 with a light level of 1452 getting hurt pretty bad

You still get knocked back to orbit until. The 15th

I can't decide whether to give Destiny one more chance. I quit playing at level 13, mainly because I couldn't find people my level to do the Moon.
I love the shooting in this game. I like the armor. There is alot I haven't seen that I would like to. I always feel behind in this game and have trouble finding people doing the same missions.

What would you do? Play or am I too far behind? I also have the dlc I never started.

tried to do the level 32 PoE as a level 33 with two level 34 players, and they both said it was too hard, harder than it should be, and or more difficult than pre 2.0. any truth to this? or a case of the "git gud"s? it was my first time playing PoE so i have no basis for comparison.
We did the PoE34 last night with three 34s, and while it was certainly tough, didn't seem any harder than it used to be.

This is really the best time to return to the game. The quest system is a solid means of progression for new or lower leveled players and the XP bonuses mean you'll be able to catch up to the end game quicker than before. You're still going through lackluster missions for most of the beginning (it improves with the DLC), but now the path and your rewards for doing so are more straight-forward and readable.

The changes to Crucible also mean that you aren't going to be terribly under powered going in right now. It was hard to start anew before in this area because everyone was running the Holy Trinity of Hand Cannons. It's not as accessible as it was last year, but it's better than it's been, especially on the new maps that people don't know how to exploit yet.

It's easy to feel like you're being left behind in these kinds of games, but i'd say Destiny has made some steps to changing that. You may not be as powerful as you ought to be right away, but you're not going to get stuck at a low level looking for armor.

Every story mission is soloable. There's matchmaking for normal PVP, Iron Banner, strikes, POE28 and the weeklies.

The only stuff that you need to find partners for are the Raids, Nightfall, high level POE and Trials. All the endgame stuff, and by then you should have built up enough of a group of players that can meet up with that it isn't an issue by that point.

It's absolutely worth playing if you enjoy the game. GAF has a ridiculously active community of Destiny players on both XB1 and PS4, should never be an issue to find someone to play with.

What am I meant to do with these prototype weapons after I've completed the testing? I can't turn them back in with the gunsmith.

I know a lot of folks are like me and are starting a new character to see all the changes. So there should be plenty of people to team with.
