Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

16DTZFP.jpg

I am so hyped to play The Taken King, tomorrow is going to be a heck of a day!

Bungie has done wonders for Destiny with Taken King. The game is such a joy to play now - so many new systems were created for the convenience of players.

Alrighty then maybe I'll give Titan a go. Are they just straight tanks or do they have some good maneuverability? I like maneuvering.
Hovering over to an enemy and then shoot them in the face while still being airborne IS THE SHIT!

For me at least.

And titans can be a good support class with their bubbles.

Edit:
And they get a hammer on Tuesday. A fucking hammer!!

Few more hours until my hunter is dropping smoke bombs and spotting enemies.

Robin Hood with my bow

This is what's keeping me from trying out the Titan class...I need dat bow in my life.

But dat hammer!

I leveled a Titan because of this. I now have my OG Hunter, day 1 character, waiting for the expansion along with my Titan, just leveled up to 34... I don't know what to do... will use the boost on the warlock.

I really like the Sunbreaker subcalss, as I say, it made me create a Titan, so yeah... will see.

For people who are dead-set on playing solo, I'd probably recommend Warlock solely due to the self-resurrect ability the Sunsinger gets on higher ability unlocks. Infinitely helpful, plus I think Warlocks are just rad as hell due to that amazing melee range and other perks & exotic options.

If titans are the ones that can do that hover shit then that's what I'm going for. My bow fix will have to wait for Zelda U or whatever.

So we get to play this tonight at 2AM right? Thinking of taking off work tomorrow.

I took off work tomorrow, but I am going to get a good night sleep, and wake up early so I can have a full day playing rested. I am on the East coast so it is not going live until 5AM.

They are all 3 great imo. Thats why its always worth it to have 3 different classes. Back in the day alot of people had maybe 3 hunters etc because of the chance for raid gear etc. But isnt needed anymore for a while. And you are doing yourself a favor to have all the 3 classes now. Its fun because they all have something special.

You can hover around while tossing hammers everywhere :D

Right, that's what I'm thinking of doing as well. Just want to be sure before I take the day off work haha.

I kind of want to buy this thing, but I feel incredibly conflicted. I played the shit out of Destiny at launch, raiding and actually doing fine in the Crucible. But now, I haven't played that game at all really since last October. I didn't have a regular group of people that I played with (and I still don't), and I thought there wasn't enough content. From what little I saw of the DLC that came afterwards, none of it was enough to drag me back in.

Now this thing is coming out. It's 69.99€ at it's cheapest. I have the regular Digital Edition of Destiny on PS4, for which I also paid 69.99€ for. If hadn't previously purchased the game, this would've felt like a nobrainer. But I just can't wrap my head around paying for the game (again) and to pay for the past DLC (none of which I have any interest in) to get to meat (or salad, depending on how rich with content TTK will end up being in reality) of this thing.

There's nothing much in the horizon that I'm looking to definitely buy expect for the Uncharted Collection next month, but the lack of a better deal for people who bought the game digitally really kills me. And I don't expect they will put out a better deal until Christmas sales, if even then.

Hmm...with a demon-like antagonist who wants revenge that is a king that can turn enemies into fighting slaves, I wonder if the next expansion will be about a creature that possibly resembles a bolted together dragon that causes destruction to the planets.

Best solo class is definitely defender titan with a saints helm so you can run weapons of light.

Blade Dancer as well actually, because you've got three different ways to go invisible to escape when things get hairy.

Out of the three classes...zero hype for stormcaller, 40% hype for sunbreaker, 60% for nightstalker. Sunbreaker seems to be a nice DPS option for both PVP and PVE, whereas Striker Titans were just so dumb in PVE.

Nightstalker seems fairly interesting for both PVP and PVE as well...probably the latter more than the former though.

The 17gb patch we downloaded was TTK.

I know that that part, but there's more to it though. That was the ground work. It's not going to just be a 5mb unlock tomorrow morning.

Bungie has already said as much. I was just hoping to be able to get whatever files that will be from PSN downloaded now so that I only have to deal with Bungies in game system.

This is the same way they rolled out previous updates so I am cool with it. I just prefer to not have to deal with Sony's shit ass shop updated stuff anymore.

And I mainly brought it up because on PSN it says thee files should be available by now. It's just the final keys I think from Sony, or at least I hope that's it.

How arduous is it to build a playable second class?

Can I start a new class and just do crucible and maintain, or is it necessary to play through story mode for every character you build in order to get the gear you need to survive crucible?

I want to play through all the story content with one character and then fuck around with other builds for crucible.

I see what you did there, perfect reason for a cataclysm

you'll have a booster item to get a character to 25 with some average gear I think...very possible all blues, purples if bungie is feeling nice
lol

Before I would have suggested running crucible...because by the time you reach a high level you'll have rep and marks to actually get purples. If you just run story, you're not getting purps.

I once went 1-21 by simply doing the earth story missions, bounties and crucible bounties. So many ways to gain xp now

That works.

TTK looks great but I simply can't play Destiny anymore. I stopped playing because CE was just to broken and there was too long of a period between CE and POE. Just really lost interest after that. Plus $40 for a expansion is still pretty steep but it looks like it still may be worth it to all the hardcore Destiny players out there.

I started a new Hunter on Tuesday. Around 6 hours of game time (2 hours story, 2 hours of strikes, 2 hours of crucible give or take a bit) and I hit level 34. Makes me wonder why they even bother with levels after 20.

With my titan I saw that I reached the ending and the story seems like it now skips some quests in mars in venus, does it not?

It just plain skips them, I can see in the map I have not done them. but I saw the credits roll and followed every NPC prompt, even did both expansions quests.

How do you gather data for the prototype weapons?

Arc sniper and Fusion Rifle: 10 kills each in crucible.

Rocket launcher: Kill 10 elite mobs (yellow health bar)

Pulse rifle: Kill mobs with precision shots (crucible does not count, afaik)

Solar sniper: Kill two mobs within a couple seconds of each other several times (double kill)

After you've gathered data on a weapon, the check box on the description will be filled in. You'll gain rep with the gunsmith (250, I think?). At this point you can dismantle the weapon if you'd like.

I am glad they are unlocking TTK @ 5 AM EST. I get my PS4 Bundle at Midnight so between all the updating(Make the new one my main PS4) and grabbing that 17GB update(I hope it is on the disc) it is perfect.

This is why I think it's hilarious that people are saving up bounties to turn in tomorrow. Just play the game as your normally would and you'll hit 40 quickly. Destiny has never been about the levels before the max. It's all about end-game, which is why so many people got frustrated (because of the lack of end-game content combined with Bungie's insistence that they don't need a way to aid people in finding others to play with in what end-game content there is).

Dude no one is saving bounties to get to 40.

They are saving bounties to max out their gear once they get to 40. Dropping 16 3500 cup bounties on your gear levels it up really quick.

Not saying it's any better or worse but it's a fast way to level your gear and get to use the maxed version of it faster. Especially when you combine it with xp boosting consumables

For many of us I think hoarding bounties and public event rewards has just been a fun excuse to play the game, since there is almost no other reason to play it in the weeks pre-release.

Yup, its the garbage story missions that we had in 1.0 that had no real relation to what we were doing. They are kind of the planets own series of events but nothing that relates to the Fallen, Crota or the House of Wolves.

I mean hell you skip strikes all together as well.

They made the narrative go along with the quests now and now you have a few extra missions to blow through for your secondary class for quick xp.....at least thats how i take it.

Edging is what I've been doing to artificially create some fun. And I did what you said yesterday and found the new mission types out in the world. I liked the speed one, but the one that had me fight the Taken wasn't fun at all because they were too high level to kill.
