Play for another 20 minutes and you will have a dozen new quests to complete, many of them with specific new strikes and story missions associated with their completion. Though to be fair some of the quests are just dumb chores "Kill X things while on patrol"...."Do this in the Crucible".
 
Well, first time destiny player here and I adore the game. Lots of fun. I'm already level 20!

How much loot is there in this game? Please say lots.
 
How much should the total game size for Destiny be? Mine is the Legendary edition physical, and it shows as 34.4gb on Xbox One total which is surprisingly low for the base game and what is supposed to be 3 expansions no? By comparison, Master Chief Collection is a whopping 62.7gb and Gears Ultimate is 44.6 gb. Did the expansions download? It says installed for me.
 
I've been using a legendary auto rifle (An Answering Chord) from the end of the story, and infused it once up to 213. I just had the exact same auto rifle drop from a legendary engram, but with attack 245.

Would it be better to infuse the higher one into the original one (already fully leveled) or just shard the old one and level up the new one? I'm assuming the old rifle would end up at less than 245 if I infused it and that I should just start leveling the new one, but I wanted to make sure.

I wish they showed you what the outcome of the infusing would be, before you committed to it.

Shard the old one. You probably should not have leveled it to begin with.

You´ll get better drops regularly.

Also if you infused your old one it would end up less than 245.

EDIT: Unless of course your Auto rifle has a super special perk.

Imo Your stuff is still too low level to start infusing.

Yah, I'd say shard the original unless you *really* like the perks on it. If you want to infuse up your gear, use blues for now since you can dismantle the legendary gear for marks.

Also, I agree that they should show what the light value would be after infusing.

Unless you're really saving up legendary marks, infusing is always helpful if you want to hold onto a specific piece of gear.

Depends on the perks on your auto rifle really, I take it they are not the same? Best is to just use the new one and either dismantle old for legendary marks or vault it for your other characters. I vaulted my legendary snipers when I got like 3 in a span of 10 min. Loving the 280 Stillpiercer I got from a gunsmith quest.
 
I haven't played Destiny since around January, so I've still got the first two DLCs to get through. As I can't afford The Taken King until next month, I presume I can still just go about doing the Year One stuff and maxing my gear out to Year One standards with no real issues?

Gotta keep in mind the exotic versions too, though, which have other perks. Void has an AoE attack and kills recharge grenade energy. Arc has a beam attack and kills can drop orbs. Solar has an uppercut deal and kills give you Super energy.
 
I'm in love with The Vanity. It's not quite the FWC one, but it has outlaw, LITC, Rifled Barrel and Sureshot IS. It's pretty damned amazing. I also got a Down and Doubt 00-0 with Sureshot, Firefly and LITC. I'm trying to decide which one I might like more, but so far the stat on The Vanity are better, IMO.

REALLY looking forward to getting Ace of Spades. The sniper I got from the Gunsmith quest is already rather awesome.

Yeah, you should have no issues. Loot has been fixed and honestly throws so much of it at you. It's kind of crazy actually.

Also Empyrean Bellicose is love... It is life... I can't go back to not being able to float for a bit when aiming in the air. It's amazing.

I think I might be about to hit the light 288 trap... In that unless I get a ghost, mark, or artifact drop... I will be just below 290. D:
 
Loving it so far. Done the first set of story missions and the quests have opened up.

If any clans out there are after members let me know. Been playing since launch so think it is about time I joined one!
 
Gonna stop for the night. Played 7 hours straight. Went from light 219 to now light 259. Slowly but surely, every blue engram was a small upgrade. Did the Daily and Weekly Heroics for the marks.

Can you do the weekly heroic 3 times with the same guardian to get the 3x reward for 10 legendary marks??

There's a campaign of quests called The Taken War that open up after the main campaign is over. It's a mix of bounty hunting the large Taken public events on each planet, and unique missions set out in the world. I've run couple of them now, and while they are not huge, they tend to be unique and challenging and have good fiction behind them. I just finished one called Paradox that
went deep into both the lore of the Vault of Glass, and the Vault itself, ending with a lengthy stealth hunting mission in the darkness of the Gorgon's Labyrinth.

I have another strike (all of which have raid-lite mechanics to them) and several more missions on tap (I'm currently sitting on 9 total quests) and I'm pretty early into the Taken War. Someone mentioned that there are ~18 total missions, including the core 8 that form the first arc. Lots of stuff that is pretty much extended bounties, but with unique challenges and missions in the mix.

So three days in, the new loot and RNG systems seem to be working well. Every time I've played, my light level has edged forward, and I keep getting slightly better gear. Currently around 230 or so, but making progress with a wide variety of activities. I think that's how Destiny should be - you can progress on a path of your making. That was always the ideal but I think it's only with TTK that Bungie has made it work.
 
So why can't I use my special emote on my new Warlock? I have it on my old one, but it's not an option for my newly created one. Anyone know why?

I must admit that I am one of those, I'm not really into PvP and would rather do missions, quests and strikes.
I just go in to play one game, and during that game I usually try to do stuff I need for quests (kills with storm fist, grenades, certain weapon etc.) So I usually end up last on my team with a 0.15 K/D ratio.
But I still get my marks, and with some luck a good random reward at the end.

I doubt that I'm the only one.

I just hit 290 tonight. The hardest part was getting to the 260 content. Once you get there, the high loot just keeps dropping. Even blues with 290+ on them, which are great for infusing into gear you actually want to use.

You're not alone. I think Bungie are dumb for putting team-based game types on the daily. All they're doing is screwing over people who actually want to play those modes as intended. Just make the daily a free-for-all mode and get the folks who love to PVP some easy kills.
 
About how long does it take to get from level 1 to max for someone new to the game? Trying to figure out if it's like world of warcraft amount of grinding or more like diablo 3.
 
I so wish I had skipped Destiny for launch and started with TTK. It sounds so much better. Its like they actually thought about what they wanted to make and made some really sensible choices. Will probably wait for the whole set to get a bit cheaper, since I did not bother with House of Wolves etc.

I bought it, and it turned out to be 258 defense. I was assuming I'd get a 280. For 15 more marks I could have bought a chest from a vendor, which are 280.

There's a token you get if you jump in with ttk which bumps you to 25ish.

So not long.

I agree. I don't mind getting killed 10-15 times for 15 legendary marks.

Level 25-> 40 was pretty fast ^.^ suddenly I was 38 and than 40

With TTK you get an item that puts your character on 25
 
Anyone recommend the best way to level up / get decent gear one you finish the ttk missions.

I'm level 38 so I'm still locked out of the decent stuff like strikes etc

Can I access court or oryx yet ?

I feel like rahuul hates me . I've yet to get an exotic drop . Took months for rahuul to give me anything in destiny 1 . If it wasn't for xur I would have struggled to get anything good.

Doesn't seem worth the $40 imo. I got the legendary edition for $48 and, having played vanilla Destiny but not the DLCs, it feels on sparse on content as it was before. The main campaign is way to short. I think I beat it in a little over 4 hours. Should have been at least a few more hours. They do a good job of reducing the amount of go here and scan then fight three waves of enemies formula and mix things up a bit. Remains visually interesting and Fillion Hunterbot is fun. Feels like it should have been a $20 expansion.

That said all the previous rules apply: basic gameplay is still fun and Bungie/Activision have clearly put a system into place where you either continue to pay their occasional upgrade fees or stop playing.

That sounds good, I guess level 1 to 25 is pretty quick as well, thanks for the info! I never played destiny so I would probably want to start from level 1 ^^.
 
As someone still in Year One territory, any tips on the best way to get Etheric Light?

Desperately clinging on to my Queen's Wrath gear from the original event last year, as it's not obtainable anywhere else by the looks of things, so it needs boosting up.
