Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Was running random strikes by myself when I got invited to join a fireteam by a random couple who was in it with me. After joining their fireteam they kicked me out, removing me from the strike. Fucking awesome.

I was in the exact same boat but now I'm already 40 with about 235 light (Just "defeated the big boss" haven't done much else for gear yet). I had played the base story to 20 and quit because the story telling wasn't so great and it just didn't grab me.

This time around I started a fresh lvl 1 titan and I played through the story quests in order base game story (ends after you get something from the stranger) then I played through The Dark Below and then House of Wolves story quests. After that I went right into Taken King's story missions, which are 1000% better than all the other story content before. This really is the "Reaper of Souls" for Destiny. I finished the story but even after you think the story ended there's still tons of quests and stuff to do. Hell I haven't even unlocked my new subclass yet (figured I'd wait till I maxed out my current one first anyway) and I've got a bunch of side story quests to do.

One thing to note though. As soon as you get some Strange Coins go talk to Xur in the tower by the speaker (left side) ASAP today before he goes away for the weekend! Even though your not 40 yet you can still get strange coins from decoding engrams and such. I bought a lvl 40 Exotic titan helm and I still have enough coins I could probably go buy some of those loot drop boosting coins.
 
Why is it tell me I haven't finished the first story mission (A Hunter Rises)? It's in my abandoned quests section. I beat the entire main story when the game first came put.
 
So I'm in a Salvage match that has had to be for at least 3 hours. The timer is stuck at .01 and the score is 165700 to 157110 at the moment.
 
Sorry if this has been answered. I didn't purchase any of the DLC prior to The Taken King. However I'm interested in purchasing the taken king, but not the other DLC, my question can I purchase the taken king and get the full experience?

You have to have the other DLC to play TTK so no.
 
You know it gets real annoying that someone worked hard on that awesome OP post that answers damn near every single question about getting into TTK and people still choose not to read it.

It is nerfed. I am a fan of the weapon since TDB and they completely nerfed the reload perk. Its slow as molasses now even with the perk active. On top of that they nerfed shotgun damage in PvE.

They also changed the name back to 4th, during HoW it was Fourth. lol.

But, happy with my Y2 version.
 
PSN is having issues it seems. I get a server error when going to my friends list and I can't connect to servers in NHL. Haven't tried Destiny yet but I assume it's related

Crucible is getting kind of boned as a progression system. Only one daily for marks unlike pve with 2 dailies and a weekly. This reworked mark system is complete ass.

Clans in destiny are pretty useless since you can't communicate in game. For a list of Destiny clans check the Destiny OP in the community thread.
 
God damn there's so much to do in TTK...I've played entirely too much the last 3 days and I'm just now getting
the sword. Next I've got to infuse it and someday make it exotic. And then there's ranking the gunsmith up to level 3, and then I heard there's a 300 light artifact quest, and there's something weird with the Drednaught and all the locked off areas and chests... I'm slowly figuring things out by seeing what other players are doing but I'm still overall baffled as to what all that weirdness is about.

But man this is so much better than year 1 Destiny. I'll have to at least mention it in the GOTY threads. It's ridiculously addicting now.

Edit: On top of having much more fun and varied quests, I think the key to it being so good is that you're constantly being rewarded. There's always something in it for you now if you play just one more mission or just do that one more thing which turns into hours. Good stuff.

I figured out most of the Skyburner mini-quest (seriously, in addition to the tons of actual quests, there are unmarked quests WTF), but I had to turn to Youtube for the location of the last terminal. If it was a bear it woulda bit me, I was standing right by it at the time. :lol

I also found three more chests I have no idea how to open. The rabbit hole that is the Dreadnought just keeps going down.

Pleasantly surprised to find that completing the first round of strikes you unlock after the "end" of the campaign opens up even more single-player missions. I don't know if
the end of the Regicide mission where you fight Oryx
even counts as the last mission - it's more like a late title card.

Is there any way to view TTK cutscenes again? I want to relive those Nathan Fillion moments - would really love it if they added a cut scene viewer that also played the load-in briefing and in-mission chatter.

So far I'm at about 245 light or so - have 2 legendary armor pieces and an exotic helmet engram got me the Hunter helm that grants shadowstep, so I haven't even touched my warlock or titan yet. There's really so much stuff to do here; I'm loving it.

It sure is. Thing of beauty that is.

Yes the Dreadnought is just great. A great sense of discovery with barely any explination on what to do. It really does have a ( as cliche as it's getting ) "Souls" feel to it.
