Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Wormfeeder Runes must be extremely rare :( I've killed a lot of Knights and Wizards in the Dreadnaught, but only ever dropped one. Unless it's a one-time thing.

Hey does the new Taken King DLC include the Red Bull quest or is that exclusive to that? Sorry didnt see it on faq if its there. My buddy was asking me.

From the Red Bull page:

Destiny and Destiny: The Taken King required to access Quest, sold separately. Quest exclusive to Red Bull promotion 9/18/15-12/31/15. No code required to access quest after 1/1/16. Destiny required to use Bonus XP, sold separately. Code for Bonus XP must be redeemed by 7/31/16.

I got 5 chests of alpha lupi during the exploit. Finally finished and was doing patrol, it dropped a legendary.

Turned into a chest of alpha lupi.

Karma.

As someone who kind of enjoyed the vanilla content (had fun in Vault of Glass), I hated everything about The Dark Below and stopped playing after 1 or 2 weeks into the DLC.

Fast forward to The Taken King... lovin' it!

- Void Hunter is so much better than Arc and Solar for PvE.
- Variety in the Taken... there's never a dull moment while fighting them.
- The new instances are pretty decent, especially the final boss in Echo Chamber on Heroic Difficulty.
- I used the Three of Coins trick and got some pretty cool weapons (Arc Auto Rifle, Arc Sniper and Void Fusion Rifle to name a few...)
- Infusion was a pretty good idea.

This is pretty much how Destiny has happened for me word for word haha. Got the limited edition played with friends and stopped a couple months in. Didn't play DLC and then 2 weeks ago gave in and have loved every minute of it.

Me three me three! Put in like 10 hours in the past day and a half

Scrounged up enough coins to get 15 three of coins, got 4 exotic engrams out of it... 3 chests and one weapon.

Haven't decrypted them yet, waiting for Tower to load in. Totally expecting no gear for my class out of those chests

I played the base game (I purchased the first Collector's Edition based on how much I like Halo) to lvl 20 finished the story missions and didn't go back to even touch the DLC packs (even though I owned them since the CE came with the season pass). I thought the game felt like a shell. Good shooting mechanics and amazing art but nothing else. Not enough story.

Fast forward to last weekend and the hype train talking about how Taken King would be Destiny's Reaper of Souls expansion got the best of me so I preordered the expansion updated my game and started a new character at lvl 1. Played through all the story missions including DLC1 and 2. The new quest system keeping things ordered and Nolanbot not sounding like he phoned it in helped but still wasn't amazing.

Then I started playing the Taken King content and wow the story content is a lot more interesting now. Its not Citizen Kane but you would be shocked at how a bit of VO and text can improve things not to mention all the tweaks to end game stuff and gameplay. Its not perfect but its a far far better game now. It really is Destiny: Reaper of Souls.

Btw this must be Nathan Fillion's year. Destiny, Halo, and new season of Castle? Madness!

Same circumstances for me. I'm starting my new playthrough tomorrow. I'll probably jump to lvl 25 if that's available, but I'll be doing everything from scratch story wise.

And I'm an idiot. Deleted Destiny plus 17gig update to make sure everythings right, only to find my physical copy of TTK is only vanilla Destiny plus codes to download the rest. So I'm downloading 17gig again. Idiot!

Cryptarch's an asshole, the package faction he just gave me turned into strange coins and a mote of light. I'd rather the legendary weapon right now lmao, it could increase my light and make these exotic engrams even better!

I'm about convinced it's a one-off thing at this point which is unfortunate if so. Starting to feel like the only activity in the Dreadnaught that isn't one-off is the Court of Oryx. I was really excited at first thinking there'd be stuff to just run around and do for loot x.x

Has anyone here ever received a second Wormsinger Rune?

Isn't the redbull quest the one that starts with having you do the energy spike patrol mission and reach overcharge 3?

I haven't even tried it yet because that sounds like a bitch lol.

Wait... Was that it..? Oh... That's disappointing then. So easy.

And wonder if going to the other cryptarch will yield different results..

Is there a catch-up guide video explaining all the new systems and changes from the first DLC? I put it on yesterday and I felt really lost...

So I played the base game during its first few months, but never really went that much into the endgame. TTK looks pretty cool, but I'm not to sure if I should get it, would I be able to get a good idea of the new mechanics and such if I were to start all over in vanilla?

You'd get a feel for the new approach for leveling and quests, but not the new gear and missions. If you like the direction they went with the updates to the base content, just know that the quality of the missions takes a huge jump with TTK. On par with the best Bungie ever put out in the Halo games.

Speaking of which, they keep coming. There's eight to the main TTK campaign, but I've done a solid five more that opened up in the Taken War, and just got another. Still at 9 active quests. They're like a hydra, whack one down and another one or two takes its place. Egads.

Both my faction and vanguard packages tonight where motes and coins. Thought it was a little odd.

What if you enjoyed the game but just got bored with the skim milk story after the first month and the first two expansions seemed way over-priced and haven't played since vanilla?

Well you never quite know if something is over priced of you didn't try out the content.

$5 shake?
You gotta be crazy
Wow that's a good shake
I don't know if it worth $5 but that's a freakin good shake

Weird... I too have gotten 2 of my 4 exotic engrams as that chest piece. Think there's something going on with which exotics are more likely?

All I can confidently say is that a lot of people are receiving particular exotic over and over again. The exotic isn't necessarily the same from person-to-person, but it keeps repeating itself.

The Fears Embrace mission has been the hardest content I've faced yet in the game. Solo, strike or raid. Maybe stupidly hard for some classes.

Yeah, this was absolutely ridiculous. I guess because I was trying to play it straight for the most part but I died like 7 times solo at the boss, only getting him down to 30 or 40 percent. I read a tip to stay in the room so I did that with a sniper rifle... beat it the second try that way. Really poorly designed mission though considering most people are going to be doing it solo. Seems like it's something that's made for two people.

I liked most of the other missions but this one... nope. One of the few low points of the expansion in my opinion. It just made me want to rage, not because it was difficult but because they made it annoying difficult with a bunch of traps and stuff.

Yeah, games like Dark Souls get challenging but still fun right. This mission gets it all wrong. Throwing every damn thing possible at the gamer and basing the end result on pretty much all luck is just bad mission design. It's out of place because I've never seen another mission in this game so poorly designed. I ended up giving up trying to beat it as it was clearly designed and decided to cheese it by switching to my defender skill tree and using weapons of light plus a good legendary sniper rifle. Ended up skipping three of the boss phases because so much of his life was taken off. Then I hid in the entrance and popped the boss a few more times until he died, meanwhile the entire room was full of enemies.

Got The Last Word in an engram last night... this means I have to do that stupid crucible quest now, I guess. Any tips on how to complete it? Just kill shit?

Did the 3oC trick. Only 3 engrams on 25 uses but got year 2 Suros Regime, Monte Carlo, and Telesto. And because he was feeling generous, the Cryptarch gave me a Thunderstrike from a blue.

Do sidearms drop at all on anything other than House of Wolves? Since getting one for finishing that quest I haven't had a single one drop and I've just finished the main quest for the Taken King.

Yeah I've gotten a few from random engrams off Taken/Vanguard Heroic playlist I think.

I got like 5 sidearms in TTK. One of them is a legendary. They can drop.

The suros auto rifle with the blue hologram is the most satisfying aussault rifle since Halo reach AR. In fact it feels like an auto rifle straight out of Halo. Anyone agree?

Hi. Primarily PC gamer looking into this game.

How fast is from ps4 on to gameplay?
How fast are general load times?

I'm impatient when it comes to load times.

How generous is auto-aim?

Should I save my motes of light for something? I use the armor materials and weapon materials to gain faction rep, but I've now gotten 2 Strange coins and have like 20+ motes of light already. Still low level.

Also, does it matter that I keep ranking so high whilst still on the moon? Level 18 and I have yet to do Venus which just unlocked.

If load times bother you get an SSD in your ps4. It helps destiny a bit and is a long loading game.

Auto aim is strong in this title. You'll notice it.
