There's no call for this, man.

Faith has nothing to do with logic, really. That's why it's faith.
But in that case, your "losing faith in that makes little sense" observation was pretty redundant, yar?
And regardless, it's not like the quality of a 16 year old movie made by completely different people should have any effect on your anticipation for a completely different movie coming out in two months.
As somebody who could suddenly get really hyped for a birthday party a month away just by seeing balloons, I can safely say that what builds and diminishes my anticipation of something could be really illogical.

Edit: I hope I don't come off as a nitpick contrarily or something. I'm just making whimsical conversation.

Every Star Wars fan needs to see the Holiday Special once. It's a right of passage. It will change your view on life and this universe.

The best part is that the old EU actually decided it was a good idea to respect all the stuff the special added to the universe.

"Lumpy huh? I´ll put him in my novels, but with his full name Lumpawarrump! MAN NERDS ARE GONNA LOVE MY BOOKS!!"

Watching the Holiday Special with grow hair on your chest. If you can get through it, you'll be more manly than the most interesting man in the world Dos Equis dude.

Old EU. RIP. You were such a source of amusement for those of us that only cared about what we saw in the movies.

All this fighting and we aint even talked Ewoks

ROTJ is definitely a flawed film. But worse than the prequels? Absolutely not.

Jabbas palace bores the fuck out of me, nothing really happens in the middle. But 2/3 of the ending, my god they are so great. The space battle is epic, as is the entirety of the Emperors chamber scenes.

Its helped a ton by the fact that we really care about the characters thanks to the previous films (even though Han and Leia are ehhhhhhhhhhh in this one.).

It's a below average movie in a universe that I LOVE and a fantastic ending and soundtrack.

*Ewoks and the ground battle of Endor SUCK

Tickets locked in! Best thing about being in New Zealand is that I get to watch blockbusters before all you Americans :P

It actually releases on Thursday 17 December here, but I was too late to get good seats for opening day.

I'm watching all the old lightsaber battles and the Ep 1 and 2 ones... are just terrible. There's no tension, the camera is dead still the entire time, and there's no sense that someone is getting the upper hand in the fight. It's just dudes wailing sticks at each other until someone uncharacteristically leaves themself wide open for a killing blow.

Im really interested in what the guys from The Raid brought to the table for this one. I never got tired of watching the fight scenes from both movies

This thread made me rewatch AOTC for shits and giggles. You know what was worst? Anakin Force geeding Padme a slice of aplle. Evwrything about that scene is complete shit. Just how Lucas? What in the fuck?

Phantom Menace gets too much hate in a reality where AOTC exists.

Jar Jar for me is ''fine''. He doesn't ruin the movie, he is just stupid. AOTC Anakin however is unbearable.

Pear. Cgi pear, might I add. That cutting it and bitting it.

Fake fucking eating. Jesus.

It's so obnoxious the way that scene's staged -- Anakin fucking takes it away from her, takes his time to slice it while gloating over how cool it is to slice fruit with his mind, then floats it back, it saved no time whatsoever. What a douche.

Unlimited Powaaaaah is definitely not a high.

The Order 66 montage
The wordless moment between Anakin & Padme
The Opera Scene
The Opening Assault
The Padme's Funeral/Vader's Birth montage

Granted, there's some really mediocre shit inbetween, but those moments feature solid filmmaking from Lucas, solid enough to make you remember he was the guy who helped edit The Godfather and made THX 1138.

Jedi's got:

The Space Battle
The Throne Room
The speeder bike chase

...and that's it, really. Jabba's Palace takes too goddamn long. The ewoks aren't good. The ground battle isn't good. Han Solo's character is neutered and kneecapped. Chewie is a punchline. Fisher's performance is almost as bad as Christensen's in Sith, and in the brother/sister reveal, she's actually WORSE than he is in that movie.

Williams' music elevates the throne room like crazy - that fight isn't as good as Empire. The music is better than the fight is.

I know I'm late to this discussion, but just wanted to point out that the scenes you mention from ROTS are each like a single minute long, maybe two minutes max, whereas the ROTJ scenes are 5-10 minutes each.
