Regarding the dynamic weather.
How do I deal with rad storms? I was out in the open when one was coming, I quickly made my way to nearest shelter which was a run down cabin, I still took rad damage when in it, I couldn't tell if it was minimised or not, is it only supposed to minimise or is it supposed to stop rad damage entirely? Or do you need specific shelter from the rad damage like metal maybe where wood won't cut it? Also I love the rad storms, reminds me of emission storms in STALKER: Call of Pripyat.

Is the main male voice the guy doing the "War Never Changes" thing at the beginning?

It seems so which would explain how he already knows how to use a gun etc.

Which makes it kind of odd that the wife would know how if you play a female character. Although, I suppose it's possible he taught his wife how to handle a gun due to the ongoing war.

I was glad to hear that Ron Pearlman still got to do some voice.

How does settlement work exactly? Only briefly got to mess with it before having to leave for work. Scraped a bunch of shit houses and I could build some shack with the supplies but that was it. After you build that do you upgrade it or what...also how to get food and such for sanctuary?

Third time asking. How do you build furniture and stuff for a settlement. It says I have the materials but won't let me build. Do I need to build a structure first? In Sanctuary there are already houses so I am confuzzled.

I saw one of my settlement dudes on top of a roof. Can I get up there too and put a turret there?
Sure you can. There's a cheap wooden staircase you can build. Just remove it (or not) after you get up there and build what you want.
I'm loving how well using the companion phone app works.
I forgot to check that out, thanks!
Quick question for you guys: Can I avoid the whole settlement thing entirely? I like Fallout for the lone-wolf aspect, not community-management.
Completely optional

Alright this is my first Fallout game, and I'm just sitting here wondering what to do. My inventory is full so I can't carry anything else, or else I can't run. I'm confused, wondering if I put the stat points in the right places, wondering if I'm even progressing. I just don't know what to do now.

I'm trying to find a shop to sell some of the stuff I picked up, but can't find one. I'm frustrated.

I should also say I'm having a lot of fun with the game, and the plus side is there have been no game breaking or serious bugs, only many minor ones that are of little or no consequence .

Right, I know I'll have fun with it, but there's really no reason for all that mess in a new release so I may wait until it's fixed.

I've heard it can be avoided completely, but only by people who aren't very far into the game so who knows for sure. I sure as shit hope I can ignore it completely. No time for that nonsense.

Can I just dump all my junk/materials into a place at a settlement and just use when I need it? It's taking up all this space in my inventory.

Totally engrossed in the game. Loving it. However, here are my current issues:

1. Where can I sell items?! I've been playing for like 7 hours and haven't come across a single shop.

2. Not a lot of armor choices to be found.

3. That laser rifle is cool but having to crank it is a chore. I hope other laser weapons don't have to do that crap. I'm really interested in the laser/plasma weapons.

4. PS4 version is running great. However, I can't figure out how the save files work. When I try to manually create saves, I don't really see them or their thumbnail is wrong. I'm not really sure how that works.

Are you stood at the workbench? You don't need to be. Once activated walk around and the object is highlighted in the world.

Yeah go to the workbench and do Transfer Items, then you can also choose what you want to transfer but also have the option to transfer all of the junk at once. Then you can take out whenever you need but also if you modify a weapon at that settlement it'll automatically use the materials you stored there.

Can you respect after leaving the vault? Like say you dump a bunch of points into SPECIAL stats and perks but decide later they're not what you wanted. Would be good to know for when my copy arrives today.

Sigh. Never again from Amazon. Hope you all are having fun!

So, is there a way to have 2 companions now or nah? Feels a bit like a waste if I'm using level ups to get the dog stuff in the charisma tree if I cant ever have him along if I want a human, too..

Sry for quoting myself but I'm still looking for the answer :(

From what I've heard, you don't need to do it at all. I think Jeff Gerstmann of Giant Bomb said he ignored it 15 hours in, and he beat the game without it I believe

How do you switch to third person? On ps4 and I've clicked every button a million times

Press the touchpad button, a tap will do.

The fuck is up with these PC controls? Arrow keys for dialogue? Enter in some places, LAlt in some, sometimes Tab is back but Esc is cancel? What?

Probably best to use a controller, and if the shooting really is improved, that's unfortunate.

I'm a little confused by your question, sorry!

In a settlement, hold Back/Select to enter build mode, have you already done that? If so how is it telling you you have the materials, and what happens when you try to place, say, a bed?

You can do whatever you want really, you can upgrade it by replacing panels with better materials when you have them or just add onto your shack.

With food, basically you can turn a food item for most produce/grains into a crop on a patch of land on your settlement somewhere (an NPC that doesn't have a job will start tending them). So! Don't eat fruit/vegetables/grain/seeds that you find out in the world if you're interested in settlements. They can feed your peeps.

I think you can just dump it and scrap it all right away?

does the plus mean i already have it? is there no degradation anymore?

also what does the heart mean next to weapons in the pip

Saw that once in the Red Rocket station. Will play around tonight and see what I can do. If I don't figure it out I'll just use the guide or youtube.

Didn't know you had to move around and place it.

For anyone getting a ton of mouse lag in fullscreen (windowed runs much worse for me for some reason), setting bForceIgnoreSmoothness=1 in the fallout4prefs.ini in conjunction with using Nvidia's adaptive vsync instead of the game's iPresentInterval seems to help quite a bit.

Can I load an earlier autosave? I am just doing the first mission but I want to reset my special without creating my character face again so I was hoping to load in when I was in the vault. .

FYI melee builds are terrible from what I'm hearing.

So what is everyone's opinion of the quality of the shooting? It looks way better than Fallout 3, but I'm sure it can't hang with something like Destiny.

I would like to know this as well. I have several items im waiting to trade. Where are the darn vendors?

Tried to kill
Preston because I wanted his gun
. Nope, another immortal NPC. Nobody around him cared that I tried, either. So much choice, Bethesda. So immersive.

it still feels similar to other Fallouts, though I'm sure it's better. It can be difficult at times to land hits on fast moving enemies. Sometimes ridiculously difficult. Thank god for partner and vats.

For food you will have to explore outside of your settlement. Just grab every seed, fruit, whatever. Find a place to plant and assign someone to take care of it.

You can assign people to other jobs, like defense.
