Why?
The Deal between Microsoft and Square Enix to keep it exclusive to Xbox one.
Terrible business decision literally to stop other people from playing the game.
A harsh lesson learned hopefully
Why?
The last 2 Gran Turismo's were horseshit.
Uncharted is Tomb Raider with Lara's cousin.
Gears Of War is fun for 30 minutes.

Agree on Gran Tourismo. All the PS3 ones were awful.
Uncharted is a funnier Tomb Raider. I miss old Tomb Raiders where you had to jump perfectly and it wasn't all scripted.
Gears of War I could agree with you on in a way.
I find indie games... Boring and totally uninspired. Gameplay is always lacking.
And I am starting to hate the 8bit graphical approach, it is just non sense.
Maybe it's cause as you get older all the new stuff is shit in your eyes,(nostalgia is a bitch) but I've been very disappointed with all the big game releases so far.
Fallout 4- boring as fuck story and just a visual upgrade from fallout 3, I was expecting something next gen.
Halo 5- argh, actually, as above.
Gears ultimate edition- 30fps campaign and looks like the original, get outta here.
Forza 6- same same....
Black ops 3- your dead before you know it (multiplayer) running around like headless chooks, gimme the older cods remastered please.
I dunno, maybe too much choice is the problem these days.
You do realize, that there's a plenty of indie games without retro looks? Like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, SOMA, The Swapper, Transistor, Trine, Rocket League, Never Alone, White Night, Outlast... The indies have offered some of the best gameplay experiences this gen for me.
Yes, they all kinda suck.![]()
Super Mario Galaxy is unplayable.
I think it uses the classical design also to subvert it. I agree that the p... run failing at the end is a slight against what the game was trying to do.Just had this realization after taking nearly a month to finish it...
Undertale is one of the best experiences of the year, but it is a bad video game. Moderate spoilers below.
Everything from movement speed, to its' menus, to its' item and combat systems are unnecessarily dependent on the standards of retro RPGs. The game intentionally ignores every advancement in RPG design of the past 20 years, all in the name of 'nostalgia'. Getting from place to place is a chore thanks to confusing level layout, and lack of a map/fast travel system. And the single save file... It's clunky for the sake of being clunky, which speaks to a remarkable lack of confidence. As if the characters, music, or art design would be any less spectacular if the game wasn't a perfect replication of a 1995 SNES RPG.
The combat experience is awful, yet also spectacular. I adore the creativity, and style in every encounter. It's so sharply written, with incredible moments that twist the bullethell style around. It's so great. The first time.
Then you encounter the same enemy a second time. Then you get stuck on a boss encounter. Then you slowly go mad from repetition as you beat your head against an active combat system that uses fun as a moral punishment. Combined with how heavily the game winks and nudges you into a Pacifist run, it essentially ensures that you'll have a miserable time either way.
Despite all this, it's easily still in my top 10 for the year. But at the same time, it can go fuck itself. Pick it up and play it, until you get sick of its' shit. Then just watch the rest on YouTube, and get on with your life.

Dishonored is trash.
I'd be interested in knowing what games you do enjoy then.
Here's a list of games I've played:

Everything goes except sport games, platformers, and PVP online shooters. (EDIT: + fighting games) That's why I was curious about the person's tastes, as indies vary from one genre to another. So disliking them in general makes it seem it's mostly about them not being AAA games.
Wow! I totally meant to quote their post, not yours. How does that even happenI blame mobile

Agreed. I was expecting another perfect Ezio type role who can do no wrong but it was nice to see a confident but flawed character. Having said that what makes him shine is the contrast between him and Evie's more grounded approach to things. Together they are probably my favourite lead characters in an AC game.
Huge PES fan, I guess?konami is still one of my favourite game companies... :S
I see more people bitching about "Bloodborne fanatics" than I actually see Bloodborne fanatics bitching about GoTY.Bloodbourne fanatics need read-only access to GOTY threads.

There are tons of indie games, in every genre and art style imaginable. Some are story/narrative-driven, some are gameplay-driven, some mix both. Did you really not find a single one you enjoyed?I find indie games... Boring and totally uninspired. Gameplay is always lacking.

Speaking broadly, a lot of indie games end up lacking because they attempt to combine the strengths of classic games with modern gaming conventions in ways that only serve to dilute the former. There are some real gems (I recommend Gigantic Army, Volgarr the Viking, Bleed, and Mute Crimson on Steam), but I think playing actual old games is a better use of your time than picking random indie games out of a hat, for the most part.
Have you tried SOMA or The Vanishing of Ethan Carter? The latter puts most of the AAA games to shame visually. Both of them are fantastic when it comes to the atmosphere.
Unprovoked game suggestion, but give FTL a chance on PC or iOS. It's a pseudo-strategy roguelite with RPG elements and very rewarding gameplay. I'm not too much of 'indie' guy, I usually stick to more middleware games (still independent, but bigger budgets) but FTL has me coming back every couple of weeks for years now. Fantastic music, great artstyle and full of moments where you feel like Capt Kirk.
You are a bad person and should feel badLords of Shadow is my favorite Castlevania game

You don't like Transistor or Bastion? Have you tried Olli Olli 2?Yes, they all kinda suck.![]()

The whole Halo series is about as mediocre (to absolutely terrible in the case of the first) as it gets, from Game mechanics to Characters. The only thing interesting about any of it is the background Lore.
All the games you listed are shooters, except Forza. Maybe you should try something different.
