So now they have to make games thinking of what american consumers want? Then just make all the games be like Halo.

That's silly though, it's not like America only likes Halo or FPS games. Games are so expensive they have to think of a global audience. It's being responsible...it's not to say go full "American", whatever that would mean, but it's like the game design equivalent of a multi-cultural city.

I love how they are adding in so many specific animations like the rolling bite. Really adds something to a fight.

I hope each roll while clamped onto Noctis's leg would be cause a little damage.

America has always loved Final Fantasy. And Final Fantasy is so many different things to different people, this doesn't look any more westernized than the old Versus trailers to me.
I love them trying new things with the series, that's how we got some of the best ones.

When was the last time Dragon Quest has been a big hit in America on console's? Has it even done better than FF?

When was the last time FF was a "big hit" on consoles in America?

DQIX sold 5.3 million as of March 2011. Last time I saw numbers reported on it. The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy shipped 11 million copies as of 2014. And people hate the fuck out of that series. Should they more like that? =P Obviously people like Lightning right? It was a BIG HIT.

Point was, it has been so long since we have gotten a high production, classic style, non MMO mainline Final Fantasy. There is frustration there for a lot of fans. They can't vent some frustration?

In before someone stupidly says "World of Final Fantasy" because we know shit all for the game.

Alright 26 pages of it i truly have to ask. Who in here actually remembers stuff about versus xiii.(its been a long time maybe things were forgotten for some)

I remember literally everything about the game that was shown or talked about, down to some timestamps on videos.

It sucks. I keep asking why I do this to myself.

"I never thought I would see snowboarding on Final Fantasy"
"I never thought I would see cars and motorbikes on Final Fantasy"
"I never through I would see spaceships on Final Fantasy"
"I never thought I would see cyberpunk on Final Fantasy"
"I never thought I would see an all-female cast on Final Fantasy"
"I never thought I would hear rock music on Final Fantasy"
"I never thought I would see mechs in Final Fantasy".

So...

That's the cool thing about Final Fantasy. It can have everything the developers want, and still be Final Fantasy.

FFIX reveals must've been a bloodbath back then. Damn jrpg fans.

I DO remember this kinda of animosity from FFVII and FFVIII fans towards the more fantasy/medieval games/fans. Not that it didn't go both ways(it did), but there was a heavy attititude among FF community that "medieval fantasy has past, and now it's only going to be sci-fi fantasy epics set in modern and futuristic worlds, from here on out". Kind of a smug, "The old world is dead, deal with it!" and "Now FF aligns with MY taste, as in, science fiction and futuristic adventures, so it's MY series now, not the old fans!". Then FFIX was revealed and it was pretty mix. Those who thought they knew where the series was heading got the rugged pulled from under their feet, and even the old school fans were mixed. Some were optimistic, while others would've preferred a presentation similar to FFVIII(full-sized characters, just in a medieval fantasy world, basically like FFIX/FFXII/FFXIV) and not SD-styled characters.

Honestly, stealth is a logical next step for RPGs without random encounter. Even Persona 5 is doing it.

It's a way of making that Player/Enemy advantage more in line with player agency. You get to decide the difference between being surrounded and an ambush.

Hell, even Chrono Trigger, one of the first notable RPGs without random encounter, had a stealth section:

So yay or nay is this what they showed all those years ago is it more or less the same. I believe so but i want other opinions

Kagari's saying it's like 2011, but I disagree. This reminds me exactly of E3 2013 gameplay video shown on SE's stream.

2011 looked much different. Sure, there are turrets there as well and Dragoon Lady is there, but nothing else reminded me of it. Heck, Noctis couldn't even do a Warp Strike in 2011, so it's nowhere close to me.

This backs up their talk of E3 2013 being the prototype for the FFXV we have now. It seemed like a bunch of talk before, but Noctis looks to play very similarly.

Gameplay looks fine, nothing particularly interesting but fine. Character designs have grown on me. Not super into that mech design though.

I don't know a single fan irl who isn't excited for this game, so I just haven't seen this frustration outside of the internet.

They adjusted the Noctis jump arc no more double jump or that floaty jump.

Yea seems to be a mix of old versus,e3 2013 and alil tabata flair to me

To me this reminds of the 2011 trailer. Sure things have evolved and changed a bit. But imo the essence has pretty much remained the same.

Will I be able to summon a Leviathan?

I don't think I have been as hyped for a Final Fantasy as I am for XV. And I have always loved the FF franchise.

Its unreal isn't it? Its coming this year. I was in 6th grade its mindblowing

I agree with this. But I do think what they showed in 2011 was super early and pretty basic footage. That 2011 trailer in Lucis was supposed to be the very beginning so it could make sense that Noctis couldn't warp yet.

Exactly.

I've said before multiple times but 2011 gameplay didn't look that great to me. It makes sense given how early in development it was. E3 2013 was when I saw more options open up, and the thing looked fun.

Without Warp Strike, Noctis moved like a slug in 2011. Even compared to Duscae.

Dragoon lady looks dumb as hell. It looks like she's wearing dental equipment.

I think she looks okay. But it's funny how she's all armored and stuff and yet she will be beaten by some young dudes wearing suits and open shirts and who wield weapons only for split seconds.

I love ALL of the monster designs in this game so far, and how they are based in reality but still have a fantasy design.

I would love for there to be a Hunting Log like in FFXIV and I think XII.

I also love all of the character designs BUT Aranea Highwind. Noctis has since his reveal been my favorite FF main character design.

It all bodes well for me.

This game looks cool as fuck. Love all of the animation work they're doing with the combat -it makes it look really damn cool even if it's not all that complex (which I don't know if it is or not).

Between this and Persona 5 it looks like JRPGs are jumping back into the forefront this year.

Yup. This and Persona 5 is all I really need.

I'm seriously loving the mechanical designs in this game more every time I see them, it reminds me of how I used to see FFVII when I was younger, it looked so amazing back then.

Only thing i'm legit concerned about with this game is the enemy variety. (and I don't think i've been legit concered about anything else to do with this game other than "will it come out") Not exactly solely because they haven't shown off much to us. I know they could possibly just be holding a bunch back, but still. It'll be disappointing if the enemy variety is weak. I'm very optimistic about everything else though.

Currently playing FFX HD and I love it. I just wish they would do a more classic round based combat system in FFXV. Didn't like what I could see in the demo, we have way too many combat systems like this in other games.
