If it makes you feel better that tune of her's has been around since 2006. The only thing changed with what you just listened to is the lack of lyrics with a violin instead.

Just watched the trailer again. It looooooooooks so good. Aranea HYPE!!! 
FFXV marketing has been all over the place. Sometimes it makes me super happy, like E3 2013, TGS 2014, or today, and sometimes it makes me super pissed, like pretty much everything else. Nothing in between lol.

I think I understand what you are saying. As much as I feel this is closer to sci-fi than fantasy and would love a return to castles and for them to get rid of the heavy use of guns, cars and robots, I have to admit that I'm still excited to play this. It's far removed from what I've grown up knowing Final Fantasy as and I do miss turn based combat but what it is, still looks good to me. I'd rather have this than nothing at all, I guess.
What'd you think about the footage? I'm a little late to the thread but always enjoy your FF opinions since you sugar coat nothing.

There's the mewling, of course, and my face gets red and splotchy, and then there's the ropes of snot, and really it's just a total mess.
I wish this would play like a real Final Fantasy game but it isn't. I don't like action games and I hate stealth elements.
The series needs to go back to it's roots. I would love to buy a modern Final Fantasy game with a classic battle system like FF4-10. Even a Xenoblade like battle system with cool-downs and real time character positioning would be OK. But I do not want a Kingdom Hearts-like button mashing system.

Most people I'm reading are saying things like "I never cared about FF but I'm hyped for this" or the now classic "I never played the other FF because of the boring Turn based combats, but I will play this because it's the right direction".
I love the FF and I will have, play and enjoy this game but FFXV is not what a FF should be. It was born from the remains of a cancelled Spin off and now they want to sell it as the next entry of the saga. GOOD, do it. But don't fuck up the saga for the rest of the times and when you make FFXVI make it feel like a FF.
Lacks mentions of slaps to the face or getting a hotdog when you asked for a hamburger. Very low effort rant

If you think the battle system is what makes the game feels like a "real Final Fantasy" then you're out of the touch with this series. So sorry.
News flash, Final Fantasy isn't one genre. It isn't epic fantasy, it isn't scifi, it isn't turn based, it isn't ATB, it isn't an MMO. It's whatever they want to make it.

The shadows on the floor are blowing me away. Wouldn't have got that last-gen. At the very least, nowhere near as refined.
The new footage brought me back to 2011 when we saw that amazing 6 minute long Versus XIII trailer. What we're seeing now reminds me of a lot of the original combat promises and that's only a good thing.
My only gripe right now is the UI still needs a fair bit of work - especially the left side. It takes up too much space and doesn't really mesh well with the rest of the design. They said they're still adjusting it though so we'll see.
Otherwise I really need to play the thing at this point. It looks like there are a lot of different systems but overall the game - especially the camera - looks cleaned up a lot from the demo. My only other concern remains tied to XV's story... which so far has yet to really grab me based on a lot of the changes that were done.

New people liking the franchise isn't a bad thing.
I am a long time fan as with most of us here, and most of us are quite on board. It feels like an FF quite a bit actually. I guess people have different opinions on what makes an FF a FF but for me it has never been combat.
I love the constant change of the series. It keeps things different instead of being so very samey and growing stale. Also even Sakaguchi said that an FF is whatever you make it to be.. one Final fantasy isn't more of one than another.
Very nice. The bold is (in my opinion) the best thing about the new footage. Camera was cleaned up a ton.

Wow, this looks great. I'm still a little unconvinced about the battle system. It looks a little clunky, and the UI could use improvement, but the game looks very good graphically, and the music is just what I expected from Shimomura. I can see myself liking the characters and their relationships as well.

And what should a FF be? The whole idea of the franchise is that each game is unique and brings something different to the table. There is no " true" Final Fantasy.

Looking good, this atr raised my hype considerably! I'm not too concerned about stealth and turrets, I'm sure the game won't solely be based around these features!

I'm a FFXIV player and, even with the MMO combat Style, every second of the game feels like final fantasy. You see something and you see Final Fantasy.
I watch this trailer and the only thing that barely reminded me of Final Fantasy was the Dragoon girl. The rest? The trailer could have ended with a big "METAL GEAR SOLID RISING 2" and I would have clapped with my ears.
Not a Hack and Slash game. Each FF had its unique things but they all shared the "fight using commands" thing.
My gosh, if the next Assassins Creed was a FPS would you say "It's still an Assassins Creed! The gameplay is not what makes an Assassins Creed to be an Assassins Creed. Each Assassins bring something new to the franchise!!!". You wouldn't, right? Making it an ACTION RPG is changing the whole genre of a saga that wasn't ACTION RPG.
I still say it can be a 10/10 game. But, out of the Behemoth and Ramuh, It doesn't feel like a FF to me. I played other "No Final Fantasy" games that gave me the "Final Fantasy" feel (Bravely Default, Lost Odissey).

If you take this video out of context it's very easy to see how some people would be upset. On its own, the content of this video looks like it could have been pulled from any Platinum or Ninja Theory character action game. Personally, I'm keeping any judgment of it reserved for when I've actually played the game, but I can understand the hang ups some people have. However, I think it's important to keep in mind that this is a JRPG with a story (hopefully a coherent one), a world (hopefully a living one), and character dynamics (hopefully interesting ones) that you don't see in character action games. I think that, if the aforementioned things are great, the combat is a safe compromise. It's not like there's a lot of complexity to traditional turn-based combat.

We'll see, FF died with episode 9 for me even if I know some people really love number 10. My expectations are pretty low after playing the demo and every footage of it doesn't hype me anymore...

I know some people hate when they put emphasis on animation and looks over mechanics, but I think it looks sweet.
I do hope that when they show the game again, they'll show some of the more exotic/fantastical/odd environments and architecture. I hope those are in the game and it's not just semi-realistic urban areas and large areas of emptiness. There was that one city surrounded by water in that one CG trailer so I hope those kind of areas are the bulk of the game and the areas we've seen are the beginning chapter
