Batman V Superman Final Trailer

Some substantial spoilers in this trailer. Yikes, especially a few frames in the last section. I'm not sold yet. I'll see it day one but I'm not really hyped.

As awesome as the trailer is, awesome trailers are kind of Snyder's shtick. Still no faith that this is going to be good.

Yeah, Man of Steel had IMO one of the greatest trailers of all time. This trailer wasn't even as good as that.

We'll agree to disagree. I've never seen an Affleck movie where I felt he was a good actor. He doesn't have much range.

I think he is a really good actor but can't be bothered by putting his heart in it.
I mean, the guy has some serious deceitful skill if you consider he's (apparently) a good poker player.
Also, as much as I absolutely loathe the Town, there's a moment in the movie when he's "working" a girl and he goes from warm smile, to a killer look in his eyes, to warm smile again in a split second. I was mindblown when I saw it.
Actually I think is IRL persona must be quite close to the character he portrayed in Hollywoodland, where he played the actor who played Superman.

I'm not seeing what you're talking about, unless you mean the Darkseid thing?

WB loosing some faith in Superman and this movie. Putting everything on Batman. This trailer was cool, but nothing close to MOS trailers (third one).

This thread is interesting. People are now hyped because they showed off great acton sequences....as if that was a major concern with Snyder at the helm. Snyder does great action scenes, he always has. He has never had a great script, his original ideas stink, and he's too much of a fanboy for his own good.

That Batman fight sequence is already better than just about every fight sequence in Nolan's trilogy.

I kid with Nolan but I would be lying if I said there weren't shots of his I really liked

For every rooftop battle there was the sewer infiltration

I think he just wanted to get his Batman saga over with so none fucked up with his version of Batman.

Nolan to a fault sticks to a schedule and usually delivers his movies under budget, on time, and with little wasted footage that doesn't make it into the film.

I think he is a great director and we owe him for rescuing Batman, being one of the main reasons comic book movies are so popular, and because he delivered 3 great Batman movies (ok at least 2 if you don't like TDKR) with TDK still considered one of the best if not the best.

BUTTTTT he really could have used a revisit and shooting the fight scenes over again. Still overall when watching normal speed I never noticed it. I only ever noticed it cause of gaf. Sticking to a tight schedule hurt some of those scenes.

This is the first time he's working with a very good screenwriter, so that keeps me cautiously optimistic.

I'm just talking about visuals here.

If there's one thing Zach Snyder is good at, it's visuals and action.

If there's one thing Marvel is shit at, it's that a lot of their films have a really flat and uninspired look.

This is not news, critics and filmmakers alike have commented for years on how Marvel's films look like TV episodes.

I'm not talking about the direction of actors, the writing, or any other of the equally important aspects of filmmaking.

Have they though? I remember that criticism being leveled specifically at the first Avengers movie (especially prior to release) primarily for its aspect ratio and flattish lighting. I'm also aware that, in general, Marvel sacrifices style and voice for cohesion... but on the level of network television? Eh. Definitely not their better movies.

The thing is... I read a lot of comics when I was a kid, and my memory of the Marvel books feels in line visually with what they've done cinematically. A lot of real-world, city type environments with not much flair. Colorful characters inhabiting "normal" worlds, so to speak.

On the other hand, DC has always been about more stylized worlds. Accordingly, it seems WB chose to allow more room for Snyder's aesthetic to bleed into the film, and it looks like that's paid off. The challenge now will be maintaining that cohesion.

That looked goddamn amazing.

Always liked the fight scenes in Watchmen and they're really delivering with Batman here

Zack Snyder literally the best comic book movie director of all time. I just screamed "HOLY FUCK" at my computer.

Eh, that really depends on how much you like Argo. It isn't like Chris has much to his name. He largely came in to do clean up duty. It was a Herculean task to balance all the elements WB has thrown into this film.

The choreography in the series was still bad. It was a whole series of people waiting for their cues. The penthouse fight in The Dark Knight was when I first really noticed it.

That gif is a guy running up to Batman with a gun with his arm outstretched just screaming "disarm me"

I disagree, the Nolan films just had a different style and were going for a more realistic and more brutal fight scenes. Now, I'm not saying Nolan is a great action director but thing like the Bane fight are just wonderful:

I have no idea if this movie will be good or not but I can safely say this is the most accurate depiction of Batman I've seen since The Animated Series.

Finally a Zack Snyder trailer.
Pretty sure those others were made by a marketing team.
I guess he finally now had the time to sit down and actually make one.

Yes they are.

300: Amazing-GOD tier trailer, pretty good action flick.

Watchmen: Superb trailer, decent adaptation resulting in average flick.

Sucker Punch: Crazy good trailer, terrible film.

Man of Steel: Oh my GOD trailer, terrible film.

Snyder is second only to JJ Abrams when it comes to generating hype-tastic trailers that result in merely average if not terrible films.

The bolded part is the only one of those critical assessments I agree with.

I do concur with your assessment of Abrams though.

Well, I mean... are you talking amongst film fans or the general public? Because his stuff definitely does carry that reputation among more media-aware circles.

If his stuff does have this reputation among 'media aware circles' then how would you be aware of it?

Kind of yeah, actually.

Nope.

It never officially hit me that we're getting a Batman and Superman movie in literally weeks. Seems like I've been waiting for this film forever and now it's really here.

Seeing movie Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman on cans of Dr Pepper really finally clicked in my head that this is actually happening in a month.

Snyder is the ridley scott of superhero movies.
If he has a great script, it'll be great. If he doesn't, then you'll get a prometheus.
