Ohhhh boy.Hahahaha I was expecting that reaction. Good, good.
I absolutely can't wait to see how people here react to DR2. Oh boy

Chapter 5 end:
Nevermind, I just finished Chapter 5 and it was nothing like what I had in mind.
What happened instead though, WHAT THE FUCK.
Going in completely blind. What should I know?
Finished it last night and had some time to think about the whole thing. Ultimately I enjoyed it quite a lot, and was really eager to finish it. I usually got the specifics of the cases wrong, but I largely figured out the cases before the trials started. I feel like that's a good balance of allowing you to piece together who did it, and having to work towards the "how" and "why".
Spoilers for the whole game:
For my mastermind, I pegged Junko from the start as she was the only one who died from breaking the rules. I figured there was some fake-death shenanigans going on there. I ended up being semi-wrong, due to the switcharoo though. The class pictures also made me doubt it, since the common element I saw during the photos was that Celeste looked almost identical in every single photo.
The game asks you to suspend your disbelief a bit with how Junko was able to set all this up in a school that seemed to be on lock-down already, with all the guns, amnesia-machines, explosive bear-mech-command-centres. The only thing I'm not very clear on is the Tragedy stuff. Did the game stay vague on that on purpose, or is this a thing I could have learned in-game, but missed? And how did just that one class survive when the rest of the school was getting affected, like in that one bloody classroom?
If any of that ties into Danganronpa 2, feel free to point it out in spoiler tags, so I'll know not to pry any further.
Much appreciated!words
Much appreciated!
I'm wondering if I should just get the sequel on the Vita now, or just wait until the PC port of the sequel. I may just settle for the latter, as it gives me a small break between the two.
What did you have in mind?
Instructions:
I would say get it on the vita, but seeing how awesome this PC port of DR1 is...hmmm. Only issue is that we don't have a release timescale yet.
Just finished the game. The story is fine aside from some cliche. I'm just not a fan of the control, using keyboard and mouse in this game feel clumsy and chunky and I can't use my controller under MAC for some unknown reasons.
Just finished the 3rd chapter.
I'm kinda disappointed in how apparent each mystery is. The 3rd so far has been by far the worse, and I had figured out the details long before we got to trial. Which is pretty frustrating when you're watching the main character be totally clueless about the case until the last seconds. Here's hoping the next murders are a bit smarter
Just finished it, The bigger story is completely.maze runner
While I enjoyed it and looking forward to DR2 on PC, I'm not so much of a fan of a couple of plot twists that are in certain cases just for a plot twist. Oh and the dating simulator of gacha and giving presents parts..I just don't get the point of it all being there aside from encouraging you to go through all the rooms every time and press on useless things and hope for a coin. Yea I know I can skip it, but the point still stands.
Just finished Chapter 2 and I am really not liking the gameplay in the trials.
Mechanics are explained super obscure and vague and assumes I understand it and it's only through trial and error that I get what I'm meant to be doing. (Still have no idea how Bullet Time Battle works.)
Also in some of the remarks in the Non Stop debate are quite vague or the both allude to the same thing but only one is correct.
Hm, that's quite the opposite to the norm. Danganronpa is the class trials for me and may other players.
Either way uh, if you're having difficulties with DR1's trials being obscure...oh man, are you gonna have issues with Danganronpa 2. DR1 is basically kids play in comparison.

But besides all that I am enjoying it quite a bit so far.
Sakura is best girl.
I beat this a few days ago and I loved it! Definitely a fantastic game and its a bit sad that I missed out on its previous releases, but I'm super glad to have finally played it now after this port.
Although I will say that if anything bothers me, its the main antagonist's motivation. I love.how over the top she is with her fetishizing despair, but in the end it just seems kind of weak. Despair is the reason for everything? Its not a proper motivation in my opinion. Its like those cartoons where a character wants to take over the world just because they want to. Granted, it was well executed here, but it would've been nice if there was more in it for her beyond just despair.
Her motives are explained more in additional entries, Danganronpa Zero being the one that gives the most insight on it.
Vague spoilers about Junko in general:
She's a psychological enigma that is equal parts sadist and masochist taken to the extreme. She kills the people she cares about because it gives her despair and others around her despair as well. Based on what we know now, she has no backstory-related excuse for doing this beyond mental illness. The only thing preventing her from being a complete monster is insanity. IMO, she's a very fascinating Joker-like character.
Do you mean the Free Time stuff? To me that was a nice feature, gives me the chance to experience characters' backstories.
i finished the whole game now. somehow i really liked it but the story wasn´t the best i think. the zero escape games are way better than this. should i get the 2nd game too? is it better than the first one?

Feels like the trial mode is made up of useless gimmick gameplay mechanics
I am currently on chapter 3 now and the storyline isn't as good as I thought and some actions doesn't make sense
?
Is it better to read Danganronpa Zero before playing 2? I'm too afraid to google anything.
Doesn't make much of a difference
It can be read before or after
as long as it's read
Day 1. Loved the first one. Even re-experienced it through the anime, after finishing the game.
1. The victim put the bag and jacket in their locker, you see this in the "wrap up" section when you put together the crime.
2. Don't really recall this, are you sure it was a spoken moment and not him thinking?
3. The original plan was just for Hifumi to leave because nobody was going to be in there at all. When she decides to stay behind, that's why Celeste wants to stay behind too, so she can manipulate the situation. Hina didn't need to use the bathroom, Celeste encourages her to go into it with her.
Also you should spoiler some of the details in your post.

Given that certain characters will always die by certain points in the game, does it make more sense to target them for their stories/skills they give you?
