Uncharted 4 preview thread. New footage/info

I'm with you on this. The new font and the "writing" animation are both really great but something about the drop shadow and thin outline on the text make it look kinda... amateur Photoshop-y. Maybe a little more blur, losing the outline and making the backing darker would have been better imo. It definitely stuck out to me in an otherwise super polished presentation.

Yeah. I imagine they didn't have many options with that font. Over black it looks great, over bright images and with shadows it doesn't look as hot.

I also imagine that a dark font was out of the question.

Disagree, I personally love this fountain pen old pirate map font. The shadow is a must if you go for white against in game background, I don't see how it makes it look amateur either.

you'll see that no one was disagreeing about the font. that and the animation are great. it's more about the harsh shadow and the very thin black outline. softening up the shadow and removing the outline would make it look less like a default photoshop filter.

Some of the newer playthroughs have some interesting bits but man, I know some of us here are much better at controlling Uncharted games based on the multiplayer alone. I've been playing through portions of Uncharted 1, 2, and 3 for a video about the series as a whole (and it's finale with 4) and I have some pretty fun combat recorded that hopefully some of you can relate to in terms of skillset used.

Damn. Promising indeed! For reference, the number of chapters in the others.

Uncharted 1 - 22
Uncharted 2 - 26
Uncharted 3 - 22

Like 2 probably with long chapters? I mean the mere scale of the maps will get you to sink more time into them if you just match chapter count. It's gonna be a meaty campaign no doubt.

You'll know it'll end like this...

The funny thing about this sequence that they previewed is that it's probably the tamest thing in the entire game.

Game is gonna be crazy fam

This has some dialogue I've not heard before. I'm guessing there's a trophy attached to knocking those cairns over and no doubt for finding all the alternative dialogue, similar to TLOU. He also experiments with jumping off the edges to see death animation which I haven't seen either:

Have you heard this one ?

It seems like the players weren't authorized to access the menu or examine treasures during the demo, but this guy did it with this treasure. Nate doesn't comment on the treasures he finds, which is quite unfortunate as it would have had a significant value to the treasure hunt.

I like how Nate chooses the best way to get out of the Jeep here. After all these videos, that's the first time I have seen this fossa. Am I blind ?

Edit : Not a leopard.

Saw a few more and I can retract my statement. Sure, no one went all-out in terms of combat, but some of the playthroughs such as the Playboy one did look at stuff I was curious about, such as driving off a cliff. This isn't making the wait any easier, lol

Time stamp on the leopard please.

The grappling hook (for its sins) also allows you to swing between cover and enjoy the verticality efficiently. Crucially the ‘time to kill’ seems to be much better now. Previous Uncharted enemies were inhuman bullet sponges (or you felt like you were shooting peas) but the fact you can drop a merc with a brutal melee or a few shots improves the whole pace of combat. Plus, now they hit harder too, there’s actually a point to prepping and planning your attack.

Hadn't seen this preview yet, but definitely encouraging.

I'm going to be playing this game forever just to get all the dialogue. A few things strike me about the way this game plays and what we've seen so far. There is clearly a bigger emphasis on stealth this time around so I'm guessing (and sort of hoping) we have access to stealth weapons like crossbows or guns with silencers. I'm also wondering if one of the reasons ND wouldn't allow people to access the menus is because you can upgrade your weapons. Another thing I'm wondering is whether we'll have to face some of the wildlife too.

Oh snap you're right. It does look like a leopard, or at least something similar looking. It's super fast whatever it is.

Been playing Uncharted 3 recently and man, the difference in the graphics is like night and day, kinda funny when not long ago we had so many people complaining that this gen wasn't a true generational jump.
The difference in animation quality is absolutely insane as well.
