I said this in the other thread but if this Jungle Book feels "too actiony", I wouldn't be surprised when the WB one features full out animal warfare.

The only thing I'm not feeling about Disney's Jungle Book is the voice acting. It's really uneven. I imagine performance-wise the Andy Serkis version will be superior, but this will be the better one overall.

Give Andy Serkins the benefit of the doubt; he was involved in Planet of the Apes.

I think he could do great.

Edit: Origins or the Disney one?

Disney one. I hate this necrophilia trend of theirs, when they not only stopped producing 2D animations, but are digging up the corpses of classics and mutilating them with live action adaptations.

I'm sure it will make a killing though. :(

Iñárritu was attatched to direct the WB Jungle Book at one point. I would imagine that he's glad to have dropped out to do The Revenant instead.

But it has Bill Murray.

And because of Revenant there's no Hardy in Suicide Squad.
OMG! Inarritu was secretly Disney' plant all along! ;)

BvS at 2.9 millions on its 2nd Wedesday is down by how much compared to its first Wednesday? And how does it compare with Deadpool, F7, Man of Steel in terms of 1st-to-2nd-Wednesday's drop?

Actually ended at 2.84 million Wednesday. Deadpool did 3.8 million with a 56% drop from it's first Wednesday. BvS did 8.1 million so it will be dropping 65% I think?

its first wen was 8.1 mil. deadpool went from 8.6 to 3.7, f7 went from 9.1 to 2.9, mos went from 9 to 4.1, and to throw it in here zoo went from 3.7 to 4.6

Deadpool is definitely out-grossing this domestically

This was known since last weekend.

BvS is currently $20M ahead of Spider-man 3. It was $27M ahead as of last Thursday. Weekday numbers have been slightly in Spider-man 3's favour, and Spider-man 3 had a third weekend of $29M (which would require BvS to have a 43% drop this weekend to match).

The gap between the two films will likely drop to $15M after the weekend. BvS misses $350M if the gap shrinks to $13.5M.

How is Deadpool so popular? The movie is rated R and Deadpool is not a that well known compared to Batman or Superman. I don't think many of us predicted that Deadpool would pull in so much moolas.

Deadpool is incredibly popular among the nerd community. Like, I'd probably put Deadpool as the #1 cosplay at comic cons I attend. And the movie embraced its R rating....that means something.

But yes, there's no excuse for the first Deadpool movie to ever outgross the first ever Superman and Batman team up movie.

Never really read much of deadpool but I thought the movie was fantastic. BvS not so much

BvS is looking at a $65mil second week, best case scenario. Probably closer to $63.5-64mil.

Deadpool: $73mil || $356mil current
Spider-Man 3: $71mil || $336mil final
Iron Man 2: $65mil || $312mil final
Iron Man: $64mil || $318mil final
Guardians of the Galaxy: $63mil || $333mil final
Man of Steel: $59mil || $291mil final
Winter Soldier: $57mil || $259mil final

It's on its third weekend, it's gonna be < $30M

Weekend or week? The former is almost a certainty, but the latter will be close I think. If BvS has SM3's 49.1% 3rd week drop, it will come up with $32mil. But BvS's drops have been steeper than SM3's so far. A sub-$30mil 3rd week is possible. And crazy. It'll be entering next weekend with barely more than $300mil. That could be anywhere from 84% (Iron Man 3) to 89% (Man of Steel) of its final domestic gross. $350mil really is in jeopardy.

Edit: Oh, did you think I meant a $65mil 3rd weekend? I was looking at its 2nd week, which ends with today's gross. It's currently at $61.4mil Fri-Wed.

That makes me laugh. What is this mad world we've entered where Deadpool is more popular than Superman and Batman.

Even better, the Deadpool film had to be SO good, it had to overwrite and wash away the bad memories of the LAST time he was on-screen, portrayed by the exact same actor.
deadpool-wolverine-movie1-600x375.jpg

R-rated, cult character, spin-off of the reviled X-men Origins: Wolverine film, given a minuscule budget, starring a guy with a huge chain of box office bombs, first-time director, no 3D ticket prices.... beating Batman and Superman at the domestic box office.

Truly, completely insane.

Well, the Superman film also needed to be SO good, it had to overwrite and wash away the bad memories of the LAST time he was on-screen, portrayed by the exact same actor.

Could you imagine saying this three months ago? I remember people being convinced that the movie would fail and even saying it could do decent or even be anything but a bad movie was met with criticism.

Nope, I figured BvS would clear a billion and Deadpool would do maybe $300 million worldwide. Just insane

After Fox OKing the Deadpool in XMen Origins, Fox track record in general, the R rating andDPs low awareness among the mainstream it was a safe bet that Deadpool would fail.

It was basically impossible for the movie to fail unless it was a Brothers Grimsby level bomb. Fox was extremely cautious, like most people here, about the movie and that's why it ended up with a budget of only 50m.
