What is the advantage to fixing the elevator and taking shortcuts? Wouldn't you miss out on potential items and additional health from flawlessing bosses?
You got items for unlocking each floor. The items are pretty damn good too.

So the game does have an element of progress to it?
Not only because of that. But yes.
This game is similar. By completing certain objectives (like unlocking shortcuts), new items and guns get added to the item pool meaning you could find those on a subsequent run.Ah thats cool i might buy this then. Was put of by Isaac its a pain feeling like you never get anywhere

Ah shizzle maybe not then lol. I was only attracted because it was made by the Hotline Miami studio. Isaac pissed me off, i think it was more the sheer wierdness of the design that didn't help though.

It's honestly infuriating. I've given up until we get that ps4 patch for more keys. Tired of not being able to unlock a door so I can get the crest to begin with.I should've made a compilation video of how many times I lost thetrying to get to theOld CrestAs it stands now the video could potentially still be long. Fuck.Abbey.

It is tough, mainly because of key rarity. I've done it once. But I haven't tried much. Still mostly working on normal runs. But it should be easier if youignore the armor until you beat the boss, then grab it before you go down to floor two. Since floor two is relatively easy, booking it to the shrine without getting hit should be much easier than trying to flawless the Blobulord.
You can't. He shows up once your "curse" stat gets too low (done by buying stuff from the demon chick or grabbing certain items) and will follow you fooooooooooooorever.
Though I feel this game is much more difficult than Isaac.
Last run I did chests exploded when I shot them (with the default gun), was that because of some item I got in that run or did they patch so you blow them up and cant get anything out of them anymore?
I'm not good enough to get past chamber 3 consistently - heck, I struggle to get past Ammoconda if he's the second chamber boss - and I think I might be giving up. I've realized I spend 50% of my playtime in chamber 1, circle strafing goons with the basic pistol, and that's just not appealing as it used to be after 10 hours of play. I bought the game to play with wacky weaponry and fun passives, and I'm just not good enough to consistently get that experience. It sucks, because I suck, but I don't know if I care enough to really get better.
That's a shame because you will get better if you stick with it. Are you playing with the marine or pilot? Those two, especially the marine, are pretty user friendly.
I find the Hunter to be the best. Her crossbow makes the first two floors a relative breeze because most enemies die in one or two hits, so it becomes more about precise shots and it's satisfying to nail shot after shot to clear a room without being touched.Marine. My problem is that the first floor is so damn boring that I zone out and get hit, then there's my one chunk of armor gone. Then I get to the first boss and again, it's all very routine and mindless that I zone out and get hit, and then I'm down to 2.5 hearts. I know it's my own fault, but if I had some input into the design, I'd make the first chamber more difficult and give players a low tier starting weapon to balance it out. Playing optimally means playing with the pistol, and it just makes the first chamber so tedious and repetitive.

I feel Isaac is much more random in its difficulty, but on average is easier because the items are generally infinite (no ammo).
I don't feel Isaac at its core is easier though. The dodge roll is incredibly OP and trivializes a lot that would make it clearly harder, and you get it every single run for free.
So far I feel the hardest boss in the game is the Pillars, they are the only boss I've yet to beat though I have not gotten past the fifth floor yet. The High Priest is actually not that bad and the wall is a lot easier if you have freezing bullets or weapon.
Treadnaughts still the hardest on ps4
Pillars are ok it just depends on your weapons, with a fightsaber just like dragun its one of the easiest in the game. same with the bsg totally destroys them. They are harder when its just one left as he is relentless, with a fightsaber you just reload every time he slams down and your invincible. Could say the same about all the bosses tbh.
The only difficulty is RNG
That's all it really needs though, in terms of key balance. Giving the players enough keys to open every chests would make them trivial and mess with the meta game. I feel like consistently getting one extra key drop on the first floor is enough. Another option would be to make the chests on floor one unlocked. Hiding the shop behind a keyed door is dumb though. I'd like to see them remove that.

I do think some people are incorrect on their belief and assumptions that passive items aren't as useful in EtG as they are in games like Binding of Isaac. If you get a couple of the bullet upgrades like fat bullets combined with Bullets +1 you are already going to have a much easier time, even if you're using your starter gun. Add something like freezing bullets or the Lich's Trigger Finger and you will be mowing through the first few floors.
I also got two of the speed upgrades in one run and was weaving in and out of the waves of bullets from some of the bosses like the CannonBallrog
Oh they're useful but if you happen to get the right combination of stuff in Isaac you're basically filling the entire screen with bullets and you have unlimited ammo in that.
I agree that his relentless slamming is the hardest part, but in that case just don't kill the third pillar until the fourth is about to die too. It's not that hard to distribute damage across all of them, regardless of the weapon you're using.
Is there a way to take out the last pillar before he regenerates his health and goes into slammy mode? I could have sworn the first time I fought them that I never encountered that tough final part and just killed them all outright, but it hasn't happened since. Maybe if you kill the final two pillars simultaneously with a piercing blow you can avoid it?
For single shot weapons like that and the sniper, I'm wondering if alpha and omega bullets work on them together. They make the first and last shot of your magazine do more damage respectively, so if you have one round in your mag I'm guessing they would each stack onto it and make it absurdly good.

I've tried with bsg and the final part stoll happens. He just gains life back like the 2 giant bulletsdo when you kill their mate.
