Zelda for Wii U reveal @ Nintendo Treehouse: Live by Reggie, June 14 6PMCEST

This. To compensate their idiotic E3 move, this might equal their ,,overview"-trailers before a game's release, which spoil way too much content and surprises.
Yup, skyward sword's reveal showed wayyy to much for my liking.
If the game is going to be huge, i don't think they can actually show too much. Unless the event is like two hours or so. If they just show some of the game world, some combat, a quest or two, some new features.....it should be fine.

They're going to have a trailer and a day's worth of demo and footage. My guess is we'll get Intro + overworld exploration + first dungeon (or an 'easier' version of it) + boss fight (the latter 3 being demo choices). Puzzle solutions, item reveals, and an entire boss fight all revealed - not really what I want to see. I play zelda to figure out puzzle solutions, boss fights, and to guess what item i'm going to get based on perceived puzzle solutions. Always exciting to have the whole dungeon 'click' once you get the item, something that will be spoiled the more items I know about.

I really wonder what this new Zelda game offers which no game ever before had.
Tbh I think the Open World Genre needs some new inputs so I'm hypef to see how the Zelda team handles the challenges of the genre. If they will have enough content for the game without the boring fetch quest...

Prediction: The stone tablet looking thing Link has attached to his belt will be a time stone. Allowing line to manipulate time like slowing it down and such. Similar in some ways to the time crystals mechanic from Skyward Sword but being a mobile thing that is always with you. It will also tie into these technological creatures that are waking up all over Hyrule.

Pretty excited for this, never paid much attention to the Treehouse streams, always just watched the directs and then caught up with the interesting stuff from Treehouse here on Gaf. I'm sure treehouse will kind of take the place of the digital event in some way, they have to show Pokemon Sun and Moon at the very least so I'm sure their streams won't always be Zelda.

Yeah I've been thinking this game is a prequel of Skyward Sword. All that tech...it just screams Old Lanayru Province.

Bring on the reveal in a month!

My guess is that this Game predates Skyward Sword in the Timeline. As in the Desert Region with the Time shift stones you'd see a Glimpse of the Desert in the past which was a more technologically advanced kingdom than anything seen before. Given the Nature of Link's new Bow and Arrow, and this technologically leading Sheikah symbol. Perhaps the Sheikah, in their prime, were actually a group of cyber ninjas. That fought using Beam sabers and laser disks.

Superficially, I think it is most likely to connect with Skyward Sword. But Aonuma hinted connection with Twilight Princess instead.

Famitsu: And finally, please leave a message to the readers who are looking forward to this game.

Sano: We’ve finished a game where both people who have played [the original] 10 years ago and people who are getting this for the first time can enjoy Hyrule in another new form, so please feel free to play it.

Aonuma: While making the latest title for The Legend of Zelda, when I look at this remake, I feel like this is the origin point of the new title we’re making right now. After playing this game you may have some “Oh I see!” moments when playing the [upcoming] new game, so I’ll be glad if you play Twilight Princess HD while waiting in anticipation for the latest title of Legend of Zelda.

Famitsu: So I heard that the save data for this game that’s saved in the Wolf Link amiibo has some connections to the [upcoming] newest Legend of Zelda…

Aonuma: It’s not the save data itself, but “Part of the data saved in the Wolf Link amiibo can be brought over and used in the new title too”. For some people, when they play the new title, they might feel the urge to play Twilight Princess HD one more time.

I think the most disappointing thing about this is the apparent lack of Pokemon Sun/Moon news.

I mean Pokemon Sun/Moon will sell just fine on name alone, but considering it is Nintendo's only real hope of salvaging this fall you'd think they'd spend at least a little bit of time putting the spotlight on it at E3.

Could just be gameplay ideas, moreso than where it takes place in the timeline. Maybe an evolution of TP's overworld or something.

Could also be related to the 'impossible' mural.

Rito don't exist in the TP timeline, as far as we know, especially since zora still exist in the game. In WW rito evolved from the zora (for some dumb reason).

You can be right. I hope it fits before/after Skyward Sword though as Lanayru session is my favorite part among all Zelda games I have played. I really dig a Zelda game with sci-fi influence.

Despite being disappointed as hell by their e3 plans (Seriously, I've never been so bummed hearing about a company's E3 plans in my life). Zelda is still one of my most anticipated games ever so I really can't wait to see more of it. They better deliver too if they think this one game is enough to sustain an entire E3.

Zelda Skyrim it is.

Thought that was the general consensus after last E3 and the clip that was shown at the Game Awards that year. They were using all the right buzz words and the world certainly looked like it had the Elder Scroll scope.

What I think people should possibly be annoyed by is that we're likely going to see that the Wii U version is done or so close to done they could release it this Fall. That it's being held back to give the NX version the push and spotlight.

However I'm not convinced the NX version will look significantly better mainly because of the art style and direction they're using. Even looking rough in the footage they did show at the Game Awards it looked pretty and graphics are the last thing Nintendo typically works on with a game. I think the WiI U version will look beautiful. Not beautiful for a Wii U game or anything like that. Just beautiful. Full stop. I'm thinking NX might look very similar visually but might have better draw distance, frame rate (60 instead of 30FPS), etc. Things like that. Partly also because it wasn't designed as a NX game. The Wii version of Twilight Princess was only marginally improved over the GameCube version. The big difference was the Wii mote controls.

Edit:

I'm really hoping they release one of the demos so everyone at home can play it. They have done this before. Either make it playable for a few days or weeks on the eShop and have it auto delete or just let people keep the demo so they play it over and over again to build up their excitement for the full thing.

I see Aonuma is continuing the trend that the myths and legends surrounding the beginnings of Hyrule is likely connected to some extremely highly advanced civilization. At this point, I fully expect the Three Goddesses to be some Ancient Aliens thing.

Oh yeah, it's highly likely connected to the advanced ancient civilization that existed pre-Skyward Sword.

"Something never seen before!"
Probably another slowmo cool looking something nobody cares about.

What if its just playable tech demos of link running around the field on Epona? No subtitle, no story trailer... just that.

Surely Nintendo is not that stupid though.

Have Nintendo confirmed this? Maybe they only record bits of footage, are we actually getting a day's worth of footage?

If that;s the case, yeah that's way too much. That;s why a normal Nintendo Direct would have been better or you know...a E3 event with NX revealing, about 10 to 20 minutes of Zelda and other games. But yeah, not gonna happen.

I'm disappointed about Nintendo's weird decision for E3 this year, however, the words used to describe the game are hyping me up a bit.

Nintendo has the biggest balls. Seriously.

They have to be really, really, really fucking confident if this is all they're showing this E3. I mean they could have easily padded it with a few of their other upcoming games but didn't so I'm curious.

Oh yeah, it's highly likely connected to the advanced ancient civilization that existed pre-Skyward Sword.

Said civilization (The Shiekah) still exists in some of the games, they are just nearly extinct. Impa from OoT and Impaz from TP are part of the same race. It would be interesting to finally get a game that gives them a large focus but after SS I've given up hope on that.

No, that's my prediction, but Treehouse is doing a full day of Zelda, so I'm sure they'll play through allllll of the demo and maybe show off 'cool bits' from the demo.

The Wind waker, Twilight princess, skyward sword, AND a link between worlds demos all had different segments, usually including a dungeon AND a boss. I have no reason expect their ONLY SHOWFLOOR DEMO to not include dungeon+boss AND some other mechanic being showed off - like exploring a segment of the open world.

Please release playable demo on eshop thanks

Unless there's some christmas miracle in june, I really doubt it.

Zelda event is sounding awesome but still, they won't even have 3DS demos at least? Something on Sun and Moon, demos for DQ 7&8, anything?
No other demos. Zelda is the only playable game. And while other announcements haven't been explicitly ruled out, the way everything's been worded makes it very unlikely. So probably just Zelda.
