I enjoyed Batman v Superman more than Civil War, who is with me?

Are you with me?

Now, now we're on to something. I used to watch old Hong Kong martial arts movies back in the day and they were all subtitled. It made it very difficult to assess whether these people could act or not. Thankfully, I wasn't watching for the acting- so I enjoyed them for what they were.
Constantly watching dubbed movies sets the bar real low.

Thank you.

that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

loving the poll, is this a bad time to say I really like Thor: The Dark World, I guess the first one is better, but yeah I love that shit.

CW is the better made movie, but I had more fun watching BvS. I was hoping the action in CW wouldn't feel a flat a other MCU movies but it did. When superheroes fight I want them to seem super and just like a bunch of people fighting. The fight scenes were cool they just didn't feel like these were powerful comics come to life. BP and Spider-man were the exceptions because they were just fun to watch anyway.

I haven't seen Civil War, but knowing how I feel about the MCU movies I bet I wouldn't like it. So far Deadpool is probably the only one of those that I would say was actually good. And I kinda liked BvS. Stay strong op!

Deadpool isn't a part of MCU.

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
It's a perfectly valid comparison. Two movies within months centered on two heroes getting into a physical and idealogical conflict.

One does it exceptionally well, and the other is a trainwreck.

I'd say the conflict presented in the movie is ironic since these two movies are basically aligning "fans" in #teammarvel and #teamdc which isn't really helping anyone. This isn't the time to take a side but rather to leave the fight. We don't have to be invested in it. We can let the studio exes duke it out.

I can never understand people who enjoy Batman v Superman. That movie was an endurancetest and I was glad it actually ended.

the action was top notch, I'll probably cry next time I see Nolan's Batman fighting.

Will drop pants for Sony.
I mean, ignoring every other metric, Civil War has the benefit of not having Jesse Eisenberg's nails-on-chalkboard acting in it, so it's got it beat right there.
This too. it would have been nice if Lex was the worse thing about Batman v Superman but the whole movie is just bad. Makes me wonder how Synder can get this so wrong when Batman and Superman have been teaming up for a long time in comics and cartoons.

Yep. My favourite film of the year so far flawed as it may be. There are so many literary allusions and symbolism in the film we haven't even discovered yet. Will be looked upon in future as a unique film in genre.

Those people don't go out in public telling people their negative opinion on getting pissed in the face by their SO is wrong.

Usually.

Nevertheless, it's a valid opinion. 9% of people gave CW a thumbs down on RT, 28% gave BvS a thumbs up, it's certainly possible for these populations to overlap although they would be a small minority.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that

Definitely on a different page with you on that one. Thor: Dark World has put me to sleep multiple times. I've actually never finished it.

Just curious, are there are any superhero or action films you haven't liked? You mentioned your opinion on Sucker Punch changed with time.

I'm gonna re-watch Winter Soldier now, then rewatch Civil War, it has been a while since I have seen Winter Soldier, going to see Civil War was impulsive with a friend. I'm pretty sure I'll like it even more then and it may beat BvS, but damn that movie was so entertaining.

I did this and I liked WS a lot better. After some time thinking about it I think its because outside of Iron Man, Captain, Spider-man, and BP everyone else is boring. They just drag the movie down for me.

It's weird with Snyder movies, one time I kind of enjoyed Sucker Punch, the other time I absolutely hated it.

Yeah I'm really not all that picky when it comes to acting skills, especially in superhero movies, I watch Flash and Arrow, I have seen some shit.

They're really beautiful movies. It is a shame everything else isn't as solid. His Dawn of the Dead remake was great for zombie film.

Ah yes, literary allusions and symbolism, the two pillars of good film making.

I agree with this only because OP said they enjoyed it more, not that BvS was the better film. Because the argument can be made that objectively BvS is a worse film than Civil War simply based on editing alone.

I feel like you're constantly pushing this narrative because you think if you say it enough, it'll come true.

I really really enjoyed BvS but Civil War was better. Which had a lot to do with time spent with the characters. There's just been way more MCU movies that have fleshed these characters out so the conflict mattered more than it did in BvS.

Just saw Civil War and loved it, but my brother enjoyed Batman vs. Superman much more. He says Batman vs Superman is more artistic, and Civil War is too talky. I really think he only enjoyed Batman vs Superman so much because he was on shrooms. God knows what movie he saw. I fucking loved Man of Steel, but really came away mixed with BvS.

I'm not saying it's an invalid opinion, an opinion is an opinion and ifsomeone actually liked or enjoyed BvS, good for them. Still doesn't mean I understand it. It was a bad film 30 minutes in. It started out great, focussed, Wayne sees the destruction from MoS, great starting point for a movie, great spark to ignite conflict, I don't remember anyone ever doing something similar. But after that, the movie goes all over the place, heaping comic panel upon comic panel that Snyder googled and figured he wanted that in his movie, regardless if it makes sense storywise. Kinda like when you were a kid, playing with your action figures, you went from action setpiece to setpiece, just because they were cool. And then your mom yelled dinner's ready and you need to wrap things up, so Snyder brought in Doomsday, the trinity is formed out of thin air and BOOM end of movie.

There's a good story buried underneath all this mess, I just hope it come to light once the Extended Director's Final Unrated Cut is released. As the movie was released in theatres, it's objectively not a good movie, nor is it's story well-told.

Is your mom's name Martha?

WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!
I don't care if that horse has beaten to death, it deserves it and then some.

OP: I will respectfully disagree and I will try to keep this as short and to the point as why: Batman v Superman had one or two moments that could be called genuinely good in it (Wonder Woman's first appearance and maybe the Joe Chill/MYPARENTSAREDEAD91939 retelling). The airport scene alone in Civil War moves from one great moment to the next, building up from one step to the next where it all culminates in one of the most twisted and brilliant in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's perhaps the most comic book-ish scene i've seen in a movie, the action playing out like you're reading from panel to panel with your imagination filling in the character's motions between each one, perfectly capturing that sense of motion and thrills as your turn the page to find out what happens next.

That's just one amazing scene among so many others, and it's not even the best one in the film.

I grew up watching dc cartoons and the way they fucked up bvs was spectacular. Like it takes talent to screw up that badly. Even Civil war had better trailers then bvs. bvs basically spoiled everything with the doomsday trailer. Civil war managed to give you an idea what their movie was about without spoiling the important plot points or overall film.

Ehm no? Said it many times in other threads from BvS that movie made me depressed as hell..Civil War washed everything away what was bad about BvS.

I remember when I posted in the Rotten Tomatoes thread for BvS right after I walked out the theater. I said "The Accused with Jodie Foster was more upbeat than this." And I stand by that.
