I enjoyed Batman v Superman more than Civil War, who is with me?

Are you with me?

It had deep and meaningful references to King Arthur and biblical allusions.

I like how all those claiming Batman v Superman to be smarter then the average superhero movie completely leave this abortion out of the conversation:

Honestly the movie is so confusing for the general public;

There was a nice gentleman next to me (about in his late fifties or maybe early sixties) and after the movie ended he looked at me, shook his head and actually told me: "I have no idea what just happened"

That man will forever define the movie for me lol.

Of course what? I liked a movie that you didn't? A few of my friends are in the same boat, though they have seen the entire MCU and like that decently enough.

You can like whatever you wanna like but it's just hilarious to me that you claim BvS wasn't a "big dumb superhero movie" when it does exactly the same big dumb shit most MCU movies do.

Batman and Superman's arcs are way better than most of what I've seen in the MCU. The cinematography is way better than most of what I've seen in the MCU. The soundtrack was way better than most of what I've seen in the MCU. The acting is way better than most of what I've seen in the MCU. The villain was much better than most of what I've seen in the MCU. I could go on.

I totally get that, but I think if you know some stuff about Batman and Superman it works.

the hell does that have to do with anything

I dunno I have been awake for 24 hours now

Some of the newer ones suck, but even Justice League Doom, Crisis on Infinite Earths, and a fuckton of movies before those were great.

Also Dark Knight and Dark Knight Returns were awesome.

Eh...they were ok considering DCAU did it better. Also when I said DCAU, it refers to Paul Dini/Bruce Timm continuity.

This abortion has likable main character and sympathetic villain, can't say the same about your masterpiece.

What's wrong with it? It was a cool twist on the Doomsday character, and I say that cringing cause lol, that actually fits the other movie's concepts.

You're actually trying to say BvS is some tour de force, though.

I'm trying to claim that I loved the movie and it's up there with some of my favorite comic movies. I'm not even claiming it's the number one or two or anything. I like Watchmen, Batman Begins, and Dark Knight more than it right off the top of my head.

Nah I'd put BvS around the middle if we compared it to the entire mcu

The ones that are definitively better imo: cap 2 (and presumably 3), Iron Man 1 and 3, Guardians, Avengers 1

Everything else is below it imo.

bar Batman Begins I agree, but BB is great and better than TDKR which I also like though.

Thor 1 and 2 are better movies than either of DC universe movies so far by a huge mile.

I don't know how you can honestly say that anything in Batman vs Superman is better than most of MCU unless your delusional. Batman was the only redeeming thing in Batman vs Superman, Superman was completely lame hero who was written very poorly.

For someone who makes some good points most times, you are crazy.

i really liked this movie. And everyone felt relatable and like actual people. Thor had actual character development.

BvS not the other hand....just um no

There was character development in that trash? All I got from it was that Natalie Portman didn't feel like acting and as such the love angle between her and Thor was simply because they were both hot people. And don't get me started on the Thor is worthy cheesy fucking stupid bullshit the rest of the movie pulled. It was a dumpster fire of bad all around.

You sound like the users on Facebook who comment on comicbook.com page.

ok? Never been there.

I totally get that, but if you know some stuff about Batman and Superman it works.
Barely. Still, if you need pre-existing knowledge about a movie before it works you failed as a movie. Especially with all what's going on in BvS. I mean I'm somewhat knowledgable about the DC universe but you have to assume the casual guy or gal who walks into the theater doesn't. It hurt the movie too.

I'd rank BvS the same as I'd rank Thor 2. 6/10. Good not great. Clearly flawed.

I understand that I enjoy those two films FAR more than the majority.

The only MCU film I'd rank BvS above is Hulk.

The best part of this thread is everyone running back into their corners to snicker and snipe at those who disagree with them afterwards. Just enjoy your movies..as good or bad as they are.

And at the end of the day it's still an incoherent mess of a film that does absolutely nothing to elevate superhero movies and will only go down in history as the movie that might have crippled the DCEU from the jump.

I'd put Man of Steel at a mid-tier MCU film in terms of quality.

BvS is down there in Batman & Robin / Elektra tier.

No, before this you were going on about how BvS isn't a 'dumb popcorn movie' like the MCU. Like it was some work of art with deep messages and themes, with something actually to say about society, lmao.

Like, you don't really think that, do you? BvS is a big bombastic CGI-filled destruction-porn-esque extravaganza like all the rest.

According to what I read and saw Doomsday is basically this.

From arguably the worst comic book movie ever. Even worse than Bat-Nipples.

There was a guy who followed dc and even he didn't know that was flash during that bizarre dream sequence.

Batman Begins is the best Nolan Batman movie, though.

in what ways do you think it surpasses The Dark Knight? I respect your opinion, but I really don't understand even though I am a sucker for superhero origin stories.

casual guys are happy as long as the action is good and it's visually pleasing, when I watch movies with people and they don't get something they always blame themselves and not the movie haha.

Even if you reduce it to that the cinematography and soundtrack put it miles above a lot of MCU films. So if they're all CGI extravaganzas, BvS wins in that department too.

I feel like I liked Hulk more than almost anyone else around here, too. Certainly more than Iron Man 2 and Thor. Possibly slightly more than Iron Man 1.
