Can't believe people haven't figured it out by now. They're disliking her review because she rated ROTTR higher than UC4. Not because Lara is a female.

Even if they can't fathom how someone might prefer RoTR to UC4, she gave it a 0.3 points higher than UC4. A measely zero point three points higher. Talk about splitting hairs.

I think it is bit more complicated than that. I think they are disliking her review because they think she rated ROTR higher than UC4 BECAUSE Lara is a female. I have been avoiding all reviews for spoilers, but I read a comment by her after the "review in progress" saying that she is a feminist so I assume that must have something to do with the outrage.

Still not as good as Rise of the Tomb Raider though!

*runs away*

That was never gonna happen. I assumed it would get a slight bump to a 9. Safe move that should pacify most of the crazies.

Okay, i think i'm at chapter 6 or 7 now. Wow this game really looks fucking amazing. It's a gen ahead on everything else. I play on a HD projector and on a really large screen. It's clean. You can sometimes see some artifacting of the way they apply AA but i wish they could use this for all games on PS4.

I did have some issues with the camera sometimes and the first couple of chapters have a LOT of cutscenes. A lot of unplayable time. But it's very well done ofcourse.

Will play a lot more tonight. I do hope the ratio between gameplay and cutscenes will shift towards gameplay in the coming chapters.

By the way, i do sooo much sight seeing in this game. Wow.. the love and effort that went into this game. If you can't see that or appreciate that then all hope is lost for you.

Bah, not a fan of IGNs review in progress scores for this very reason. So many ways to interpret what they just did.

Just the idea that they might have bumped up the score due to pressure from idiots on the internet does not sit well with me.

Own your fucking score.

Don't worry.

She seemed to really like the MP. Her earlier score was mostly based on the campaign.

But yes, giving a review-in-progress a temporary score is ridiculous.

If she thought the single player was an 8.8 then a bump of .2 for a decent MP mode is not out of line with expectations.

Heh wonder if it's because of pressure and some fear of harassing.

9.0 looks better than 8.8, so some feathers might not be ruffled now.

From the in progress review it sounded like a done deal, only to check if the multiplayer is working properly.

Would be a shame, I'd take a shitty opinion over one made under pressure anyday.
I was it set in stone when its call a review in profess and not the final score?

Ugh this review in progress stuff with a score is so messy.

I believe someone earlier said that IGN does a reevaluation rather then an addition for the score (when taking MP into account).

Regardless, the entire idea not only screams click bait but seems to have been executed here to generate the most amount of clicks.

It's pretty much the easiest way to generate a lot of clicks while leaving yourself the option to bump up the score later to avoid controversy. I just don't like it.

I wonder if they had to pull straws to see who gets to be the fall guy(or girl in this case) if your theory is true. I would not have wanted to be in her shoes the last 6 days if that wasn't my true opinion.

I have to guess what you mean by that post but

Well obviously not, but given that:

"Lucy’s played through the entirety of the single-player campaign (1.5 times) but hasn’t had much luck joining into pre-release multiplayer games. Impressions below are based primarily on the beta. In order to ensure the final experience meets expectations, our review will be labeled as in progress until we’re able to test multiplayer on live servers after launch on May 10 – expect a final score shortly thereafter."

And the fact that the feedback on ign and around the web was awful up to personal harassment, it's not out of the blue to think that she bumped the score because of pressure. Maybe she just really enjoyed the multi much more than in the beta to bump the score, and not to appease the fanboys.

About to reach 95!

Scores doesn't matter anyway, right?
they do in the end lol

After reading through Jim Sterlings review, you can tell that it reads like a 9.5 review except for cliches contained both in the game and on forums. As in, 1 - Nathan murders without remorse and 2 - The game is predictable due to being the 4th entry in a series of similar games. For longtime fans, if you read it, it's a 10/10 because those are nitpicking we've either come to expect or are not bothered by.

It's up to Edge to balance out the IGN score now. Need that 10 or no chance to hit 95.

Never heard of this World of Goo game before now...

I'm satisfied that the 94 (highest ranked game this gen yea?) is secured, learn to be happy with what you got!

I called the 94 MC.

I called IGN changing the score to a 9.0.

I called EDGE giving the game a 10.

I'd say the 10/10 EDGE score is confirmed! :D

If you predicted all of that, stop placing bets in videogames forums, go for the lottery!

And it's still at a solid 94. All we need now is that 10 from EDGE and a few more perfect scores so that Uncharted 4 can reach that awesome 95 and murder every other game this gen.

It's not gonna happen, that 94 is locked for both way, not going to be 93 nor 95 at this point unless there is an unusual circumstance.

Man im only to chapter 7 and omg this game is amazing it gives you the next gen feel thats been missing since the start of this generation. the sound design is unreal. Seriously do yourself a favor and play with headset. I had to stop its currently 5 am here in ohio was only gonna play for a half hour or so it turned into 5 hours thats how you know you got a good one.ill probably limit my play so i can savor it a lil longer.

So if this gets 10 from EDGE this will be the first time (and maybe the only time) IGN scores a game lower than EDGE right?

Wait wtf bioshock infinite scored that high?

Where have I been ?😂

There is a LOT of salt about it on GAF, you can open an LTTP even today and see in a minute countless of "over rated" posts, honestly? I kind of agree with them... wasn't a bad game by any mean, but gameplay was pretty bad, you can't give a game a 94 if the main component- all the shooting parts, is bad.

Personally when I played it I just wanted the shooting to be over so I can go back to exploring with Elizabeth, and enjoying the story bits and dialogues, but there was too much of those annoying shooting parts, so for me it can be more than an 8-8.5.

I doubt it, there's probably numerous examples of IGN scoring a game lower than Edge. Off the top of my head, the latter awarded LittleBigPlanet 3 9/10 while the former gave it 6.8.
