Here what I'm expecting (Sony published games) for next year if Horizon get delayed.

March: Horizon and MLB 17
May: Detroit and Matterfall
June: Wild
August: Dreams
September: Dead Don't Ride
October: God of War 4

I can see GOW4 releasing in May while Detroit early October though.

I should have qualified my post with I mean't 100% Sony's internal/owned WWS games!

Anyway I checked GOW and the first two games were revealed/announced 1 year and 1 year, 3 months from release and GOW3 had a prolonged 2+ year build up.

There's not enough hype for Deep Down in this thread. Which is a no-no because there's a good reason to believe it'll resurface this year.

Here's the most recent stuff we have on it:

◘ December 25, 2014: Four New Screenshots

◘ February 19, 2015: Yoshinori Ono Suggests Overhaul

Yoshinori Ono said:
“It might be a while ahead, but we hope to show you something truly different from what was shown previously. In fact, since we announced it, the framework behind it has grown much larger to the point that what we had before may well have been a dud."

◘ March 20, 2015: Teruki Miyashita on Concept and Long Term Approach

Teruki Miyashita said:
“We’re still facing a ton of challenges. For starters, there’s the whole process of developing games for the newest next-generation consoles. Every solution we came up with seemed to create more problems than it solved, so it has really been one step forward, two steps back the whole way. On top of all that, we had to tune up the servers for the online management aspects. We had a really hard time trying to develop a game that combined all the elements.

“We are putting our shoulder to the wheel with the development of Deep Down. We’d really like to create more opportunities for people to come into contact with the game. We just ask for a bit more patience from our users.”

◘ March 30, 2016: PlayStation 4 NEO Showcase Rumor

Finally, from GAF comes a Bish-checked rumor that suggests both Deep Down and God of War IV will be showcase titles launching with PlayStation 4 NEO.

I'm wondering if Capcom is sticking to the free-to-play route it originally intended or if it's reshaping Deep Down to be a retail title. What they've shown before looked great, but there didn't seem to be much variation that I remember outside of the dungeons being procedurally generated. I wonder what they've been cooking up.

Holy crap I can't believe E3 is less than 2 weeks away.... time flew by.... well time probably disappeared for me when UC4 hit for a while but that's OK :D

+ Legend of Dragoon

That would be my personal " holy trinity "

with a Colony Wars reboot being right up there as well.

I'd also love to see

make a return as well
You sir are a genius.

God damn we are so triple A JRPG starved until stuff like Star Ocean and Dragon Quest hit. Legend of Dragoon would just be unreal. Never going to happen though.

Is is not allowed to talk about Deep Down without showing off a GIF

yeah i loved what they showed of the game so far. Especially those spell effects. Loved the way they combo'ed together. The flames from the dragon mixing with the tornado spell causing a fiery tornado. Great stuff.
Makes me realize how long it has been since we've seen anything from this game. What was the last thing? The Mimic photo?

So good. Yeah, those screenshots I posted were the last we saw of the game.

Yeah. They have plenty of great PS2 stuff still left that could use the cool emu enhancement treatment before they move to PS1/PSP games.

Edit: Unless ofcourse they run out of stuff they are able to work on, in which case I wouldn't mind them looking at Sony PS1/PSP stuff so that they don't waste time not working on anything while waiting for some other first/third party games to be available since third parties seem to be slow to get on board.

With the speed in which the PS2 remasters are being pumped out it'll be a long, long while before Sony would consider going down the PlayStation/PSP well, and that's without taking into account the aforementioned additional cost and associated developmental difficulty. That said, it'd be awesome to see some original PlayStation titles re-emerge if even solely as an accompaniment to something bigger and more relevant.

I mean, in an ideal world Sony would leverage its IP muscle and create VR experiences forged around the likes of Colony Wars (not sure if it's even in the catalogue after Psygnosis' disbandment) and G-Police; some easy-to-translate-into-VR titles that hold an existing bit of nostalgic weight. It could be a shrewd move to get more on-the-fence fans to adopt early on if they're presented with a re-imagining of something they remember fondly.

I got my tickets on Tuesday and I'm looking forward to seeing what's there.

I want...

1. At least one more reason to care about my Vita in 2017.
2. Bioshock Collection that supports PS VR.
3. A release date for The Last Guardian.

And that's all I'm really hyped about.

Crash, Sucker Punch Spidey, DQXI 2017 western release announcement trailer, new FFVIIR and KH3 gameplay trailers (with KH getting a 2017 release window) would be the E3 of Dreams 2.0 for me.

You didn't need to go to so much trouble! It does show that it would be very unusual for one of their big AAA games to get revealed less than a year from release, though.

I hope it doesn't mean the game isn't coming in March but I wouldn't be surprised.

There's no way Dreams is that far out. They play the game on stream most weeks, and one of the devs hinted they have a release date penciled in.

I'm still looking forward to Deep Down. I like to think that the reason they're so quiet about this project is that they're revamping it from the ground up.

And personally, if they're going to take inspiration from Dark Souls, I hope they at least go down the Nioh path and improve on the genre. Just like how Nioh incorporated some Ninja Gaiden style and feels, maybe Capcom can do the same for Deep Down- incorporate some DMC into it XD

I really liked what we saw of the dungeon crawling aspects and of combat so far from Deep Down, so I hope the changes aren't too drastic.

Yeah I'm still very excited about this. It seems like the project has gotten even more ambitious.

I hope they turn it into a Dragon's Dogma sequel...

Doubt it. It will still be a dungeon crawler.

Im more curious about what happened; the project was canned for a while; or to be more specific, the engine. But could be that canned meant 'on the backburner' in this case. I wonder if the IP still lives, or the engine still lives, or both.

I don't mind either option.

I know Ono is attached to this project, but I really really hope somehow in secret Itsuno gets placed in the Director's chair. Whether it's to revamp it as a Dogma sequel or just improve the combat of the OG version, I'll rest easier knowing it's him.

I hope VR announcements don't consume too much of the conference.

Same, I hated VR talk at last e3 and psx.

But anyway, this is my very first e3 as gaf poster, I'm more excited then I probably should be about that lol but I am. FUCK!!! I can't wait for everything to start.

After completing U4 last night my gaming hype is on another level, I just wanna play more great games like it and I just know Sony's show will display awesome things to come for this year and beyond.

They're launching new hardware this year, of course they're gonna dedicate a considerable portion of the conference to it.

I'm really lowering my hype right now.

I can't see Sony, or any company topping last year's press conference. Final Fantasy VII, Shenmue 3, and the Last Guardian were all confirmed to be real. When was the last time three "legendary" franchises were all resurrected on one stage?

The other thing:
I know the idea of bringing back old IPs sounds great in a forum post; but I just don't see it being one that moves the needle or does any thing for any one outside of the most faithful. This is what kinda gets me when people are calling this year's Sony E3 Dreams 2.0.

I think this year's E3 will be more in line with Sony's 2014 press conference, or Sony's 2008 press conference. They'll have a solid mix of third party, and just enough first party to reinforce their commitment to exclusive content. That's it.

I hope I'm wrong though.

I'm in the same boat actually. I'll take whatever game is made with Itsuno at the help. Man is a genius.

They didn't dedicate much time to VR last year at E3, so I'm hoping they won't this year either (unless there's a Jumping Flash in the works!), but who knows. We're close to its launch now, so it may well take up a good chunk of time. I just hope the VR showing at PSX last year taught Sony a few lessons.

What are you expecting/anticipating first party wise?

No need for me to have "megatons" on the same level of last year just to prove they can keep going with that (even if they have enough titles to do it), i very much prefer meaty showings of already announced games and good pacing.

Funny enough, I went back and watched Sony's 2008 show recently and thought it was pretty solid; especially when you adjust your mentality to that point in time.

- Resistance 2 demo, LittleBigPlanet demo,
- Early PSN Title push with Wipeout HD, Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty and Siren: Blood Curse
- New look at Infamous
- MAG (Which seemed incredible at the time) and God of War III announced

And that was just the first party front. I quite liked it! If this year's conference is similar, I will be 100% satisfied. Good thing is, a 2008-esque show is pretty much the floor for this year's conference considering bare-minimum we will see already announced games like Horizon and The Last Guardian and are all but guaranteed a couple of AAA first party announcements (Let's go Bend and God of War!!).

If they were to bring back MAG then they'd need to clean up the gameplay. I loved the game, but the gunplay kind of sucked.

I don't need Sony to top last year. I don't hold anyone, even Sony, to last year's standards.

Not this year, not next year, not ever.

If anyone can do it again, cool, but if 2015 is the alpha and omega of "Dreams", then it's fine too.

What I want are :
- a consistent quantity of new first-party announcements/reveals that is satisfactory to my gaming preference (3-4 per conference, anymore is unrealistic)
- very strong updates of already-revealed titles to make me (more) excited for said games
- Strategic execution of 3rd-party stuff (exclusive or non-exclusive) that is beneficial to the IP and its audience (such as Yakuza localisation or giving Shenmue a big reveal stage)

Yea, anyone who is thinking or expects Sony to top 2015 wants to be dissapointed.

I'm sure there will be personal megatons that might make the year better for an individual (heyo Dragons Dogma 2), but Sony 2015 is gonna be king until the surprise HL3 announcement at Nintendo's TGS conference.

Pretty much this.

Expectations are and always were too high for E3 conferences even before last year.
