So glad I didn't buy that multi-tool.

Met an alien at a space station that gave me an 8 slot upgraded multi tool for free :D

So my game will not Save and it keeps freezing and giving me a error its making me not even want to play this game anymore. Has anyone one experience the same issues and is there a fix for it?

My starter planet was heavily inhabited by Vy'Keen and has a lifeless rocky moon covered in mineral deposits, including giant boulder sized slabs of Emerald. Some even take up a mountain side. Got the explorer and trader trophies, 2 million units, and my suit up to 15 slots without leaving the first system. I've also come across some really cool Vy'keen lore and learned 20 or so words of their language so far.

Part of me is ready to venture forth, while another wants to buy a bigger ship to increase my mining output from 500-600k units per run to over a million. Decisions. It could be a while before I make it to a star system this rich and lucrative.

Man, this thread is going fast, I haven't been following it very much today, anything new guys, how's impressions, what's going on, what do you do!? :)

Anyway, finally managed to purchase the game through their website, through the Humble widget, as I understand it I'll be getting the key on friday (release day)? I'm assuming we know nothing about claiming the preorder stuff on PC, I'm just hoping I won't have any bugs or issues by ignoring the preorder starter ship an going through the tutorial goals as usual.

Man, can't believe the game's out and people are already playing it. Can't wait to jump in, three days left.

I'd say go ahead and upgrade since you're in the position to

so you just paid 60 bucks on something and will simply not try again because "fuck it, I won't play again" :|

OK

Who said I paid $60? nice ignorance. We dont use $ over here, and I paid less then that amount anyway. 5 hours was enough for myself to know if I liked the game or not and if I wanted to keep on playing. I will simply put it on ebay and make my money back, simples

I dunno, it just seemed so easy to overlook and is literally just free units. I wasn't sure if there was a tradeoff or anything.

I wish there was a way to batch upload all of your discoveries. Kinda annoying to have to do each thing manually.

Got my first game crash about 20 minutes into the game on ps4. Hope this doesn't become a habit, but from other posts it seems like it will be. My firts planet was a radioactive one, and I decided to kill a sentinel because why not. They went away after running a bit. Got some titanium. Also, the inventory management is going to get old real fast. Why even have different ship and suit inventory when you can transfer them immediately with no drawback. Just an unnecessary menu.

Edit: Also, how do you rename something? It says triangle, but when I hold it down, it doesn't do anything.

This game, it was just everything I wanted and everything I didn't know I wanted.

I started out on a planet teeming with danger, poisonous atmosphere, and high cliffs surrounding my ship. The idea of the game barely giving me any guidance is something I enjoy because the sense of discovery you get when things click is incredible.

I stumbled around the planet attempting to put my ship together, while recharging my shields, and figuring out how to keep the radiation from killing me. I never felt like the game was overwhelming in a sense, but that it was giving me subtle hints here and there to move me along. That moment though, once you break orbit and swing the ship around to look back at the planet is just a awe-inspiring moment and I was really surprised on the feeling it left me with.

I cleared out three systems last night, exploring every planet in each system, some more than others depending on the climate, but it just blows me away on how I find something new or some new type of feature. I think I finally understand and accepted the fact that I will NOT be able to find everything. You will miss a lot of things and that's just the way of this game.

This game is huge, the universe is vast and I love it. For a person that as a child always wanted to go into space and be an explorer, this is a game that was built for me. Thanks Sean, and thank you Hello Games!

Seems a bit ambitious to me. How do they plan to continue funding the game when, according to the Vice interview that came out today, they are massively in debt from making NMS? I know they have a small team and seem to be having good sales, but it seems odd to just say there won't be any paid DLCs. I'd be happy to pay a couple bucks for larger updates.

For those of you who were getting stuck on the hyperdrive thing if you took the pre-order ship:

Right before I quit out last night for the first time, I had bought a new ship from some guy in a space station. That was when the tutorial quest flipped back to the hyperdrive step since I had bailed on my pre-order ship which already had one installed. Upon logging into the game today, I got back into my new ship on the space station and used the L3 star system scanner, and it popped up a beacon on a planet I had not yet visited. Going there pointed me to an outpost on that planet which gave me the hyperdrive recipe. Leaving that planet and using the L3 star scanner again pointed me back to the second planet I had visited, back to an outpost I had already discovered, and the Gek there gave me the Antimatter recipe. So if you are stuck on this part of the tutorial due to the pre-order ship, try leaving the current planet you are on and going into space, and using the star system scanner to see if it finds any signals.

There really wasn't a problem until I bought the new ship. The tutorial quest had gone away and as far as I knew was completed until I switched ships. I could have made the system jump using the pre-order ship, I just happened to buy the new ship in the first system before making the first jump.
Once I made the jump with the preorder ship, I got the quest to refuel its hyperdrive but didn't know the antimatter recipe yet.

Will try to expand my mini guide for new players again tonight and explain this business- just want to make sure, as far as I know, you HAVE to accept the preorder ship at some point no matter what, right?

With base building and freighters on the way I could see them adding a store to sell various cosmetics, upgrades, and quality of life items.

If I have a ship and buy/find a new one, what can I do with my old ship? It seems like I can't sell it or store it or anything. Makes no sense...

well im in the OMFG AMAZING crowd (those people exist here right?)

spent 5 hours last night and its everything i hoped for... and then some... i kept saying "OMG AWESOME" every 5 minutes. 5 hours of exploring, havent even left my starting planet.

10/10

I would feel the same if I didn't get lost in cave for 1.5 hours got ton of great resources found some mythical item that made me understand a language. finally found a way out, took 4 steps in the open air game frozen and lost all my progress.

I know we have a love feast going on here but the crashes are happening a lot and like my situation I lost all that work and resources. they need to add a manual save function.

I'm guessing there is no way around getting the antimatter recipe since you'd need it in the second system. But I don't know if you jumped to second system then sold your ship for a new one if you would then get the recipe for the hyperdrive in the second system or would just need to buy ships that already have one or what. I don't think you can learn how to craft hyperdrives as random tech.

Yeah crash without progress save in this game would make me really pissed :|

Hope they fix the crashes soon.

Sure, here's a video.

At first I was thinking it must've gotten jacked or something. I went chasing after the HUD icon until I found it floating away like that.

Thanks for sharing. You weren't kidding. It's like a kid who let go of his balloon.

True, though "no paid DLC" would seem to contradict the idea of even small stuff like that. I just want them to be financially stable and not get too idealistic with trying to go the Minecraft approach.

How does Minecraft make any money from all their updates. Game sales. Releasing on more platforms. Eventual mobile version when phones and tablets quickly become powerful enough to run it if they're not powerful enough already.

Alright, so it seems like my SE edition from Amazon won't ship until Monday. They already sent me a pre-order code... is it too late to cancel it?

I can't stand what the fuck Amazon is doing here. My most wanted game since it's initial trailer and I can't play it on launch day, let alone launch week? I'm done with Amazon.

Is there some issue with the ship you get with the PS4 preorder? I think I've seen some posts related to it? I don't want to start off with a glitch or a botched ship.

Did Hello play their own game? Who likes to stop every 5 minutes to recharge crap you use constantly? Do they sit at the desks and constantly rearrrange their drawers? They sure like inventory management.

I mean for a game that says "Explore, look at stuff, get immersed" they break that with a barrage of menus. I mean hell nice cosmos sky but no time for that I have to mine with my multi-tool so I can recharge my multi-tool so I can mine for my O2 so I can breathe while I mine for O2.

End Rant

I like so much about this game but declutter the inventory system.

Just finished playing for the last 2 hours. Completely hooked now.

My starting planet was about as lush with life as one could expect. It was a frozen planet but it had trees, plants, & creatures abound. Ships zooming around the skies. The game definitely doesn't hold your hand though.

Even with the increased inventory space, I still keep running out of space. The problem is that I don't know what I should keep just in case and what is very common enough to be found anywhere. Iron & Carbon are definitely not in short supply though.

Definitely see myself playing this game for a long time.

Never realized how much variation in the flags there were until I saw this.

Are those flags there simply to mark the place people began? It would be cool if we could make/place our own.

When did you preorder?

I think that when you upgrade you're stuff, this reduce considerably.

Same thing happened to me except its shipping tomorrow on my end, and I got my pre-order code as well, at this point they already have your money so its too late to cancel. If you are a prime customer tell them that shit is unacceptable and get your free month.

Not a prime customer. At the very least, I expected it to ship today to get here later in the week/by the weekend. But shipping a whole week later and waiting until the end of that week to play it? Nope. Not giving them my pre-order business again.
