You can do that? That's another thing on my TIL list. I can tell there are going to be lots along the way.

I may actually buy the guide for this game, just to spell some of this stuff out (and a glossary)

Ah, turns out I might be wrong! I thought it was possible though, but I can't double check right now.

You can't transfer upgrades afaik. The new tool usually comes with better upgrades and more slots, if not there's no point in upgrading.

You can't transfer upgrades as far as I know.

Anyone of your PS4 players feeling like you suffer from the FOV, what about the FPS, is it worst in space or when you travel on ground?

Played it a bit more last night and ended up spending a little more time on one planets than I have been and coming across upgrades etc. which was really good.

Also found a crashed ship and it was a little better than my initial one so I decided to swap and ended up losing all the items I had stored on my old ship, in fact it just seemed to disappear (or I somehow lost it even though I parked nearby) which was really annoying since I had all my horidium(sp?) stored in there so I had to go around finding more. Couldn’t even fix my shields and had to carefully fly to the space station in the hopes of buying some more but they didn’t have enough to fix the shield so will have to go back planet side and find some more.

Did have a really fun interaction with an alien I found. It did the usual they speak and you interpret what they are saying and it went something like this "The alien is holding a photo of another alien, its young and strong, its tendrils are big and wide and it looks quite virile' and then gave me the response options so I chose 'I will take your place for you' which pleased the alien. Seemed I had agreed to take on an arranged marriage for the poor alien :)

Another annoying thing is when you have your first interaction with a tech based alien and it sometimes gives you the option to give them an item. If you don’t have it on your suit storage you have to back out and you end up losing standing with that race. I have had a couple of times now they want Thererium9(sp?) and I had some on my ship but couldn’t do anything about it.

Otherwise loving the game so far, just want to keep playing it to explore and upgrade some more.

Does anyone have answers for 1-3 of these guys questions? I'd love to know these too. Especially the atlas pass and multi-tool ones. Can we get more slots on a multi-tool or do we have to buy a new one? Also where do you get new ones from?

1. Non spoilery answer: Keep travelling to new star systems. You'll find out.

Slightly spoilery answer:
A point comes when you'll see an 'anomaly' in space. Visit it.

Spoilery answer:
There are two characters who appear periodically throughout your adventure (probably every 10-20 star systems) on a big metal orb-like ship which the game dubs 'space anomaly'. One of them will give you an Atlas Pass if you hand over lots of animal research/data. The other will give you waypoints to special locations. In each one of these locations is also a multitool upgrade

2. Either find multitool upgrade lockers in buildings on planets or in space stations - or sometimes an alien will ask to look at your multitool. Hand it over for an upgrade offer.

You always have to pay, I think.

I finally got around to playing and spent an hour exploring my first planet. Game seemed interesting until it locked up and crashed erasing all my progress. Gonna have to wait until they patch some bugs before I play seriously.

OP's Limited Edition featureset indicates that the LE was supposed to come with a DYNAMIC theme, yet the theme I have appears static. Scaled back the offer at some point? Providing an actual dynamic theme later down the road? Or does the current theme have some factor that actually registers it as "dynamic"?

Not mad, I quite like the apparently static theme that was included -- it's gorgeous and the music is nice... Would be cool to have something animated, though, maybe that triangular eye floating or maybe even something simpler like the back side of a starship's thrusters lighting up and a small engine startup noise on a delayed loop, with occasional distant starships in the background flying by across the screen?

Oh wells.

If I restart my game (is that possible?) do I get to re-redeem my special bonuses for my fresh explorer?

Sucks to hear. I wonder that even if I can shoot my cannon is nerfed or something. Luckily I've not been attacked by space pirates yet....

Well I have been shooting pirates and they seem to be just as effective as before. So in essence I think the glitch has worked out in my favour. I have some lazer beams as a secondary weapon too but they haven't glitched lol. Weird.

I still haven't left the first planet yet.

Just flying around getting exosuit upgrades.

I think I'm gonna have to bed down on a planet and do that. I've warped a few times but struggling to do much with my puny inventory. Gonna dedicate a few hours to a single planet to get those resources and upgrades sorted.

I tried that to go fetch the materials he wanted, but when I flew back down to the planet I lost him :(

For curiosity sake, I bet most people that are enjoying this game are "old". How old are you space cadets?

31 here.

34 in my second system right now. Im slowly learning not to cling to every rare material I find. Its hard but damn space is tight in that suit.

they took out rotation because playtesters were getting disorientated.

Really?? What the hell? And how would it be disorienting if it isn't disorienting in real life? I mean we have moon and sun, right?

This is pretty lame :|

Edit: I've seen the stars dip under the horizon though! Or am I mixing things up?

does deleting your save and restarting the game also delete all previous discoveries? or are the still remembered in your list of discovered planets?

My first planet is basically tentacle world, Full of Purple tentacle bushes that look like something out of day of the tentacle and I found a Tentacruel pokemon!

Not bad for my first planet

What the FUCK

I put in a fair amount of hours yesterday evening for the very first time.

So far my overall experience is that this is the game that I was waiting for in the 24 years that I have been gaming.

Sure, it has its flaws. The resource gathering can get repetitive. The overall barren worlds with the 'go to ?' points can become a bore. The constant transition in and out of planets can become a nuisance.

Besides all those issues or repetitive patterns the game itself is something that is unique. The smooth transition between galaxies. The fact that you can explore every inch of a planet, destroy the environment, come back after 5 hours and still see it in the exact same destroyable state.

I can completely understand that the lack of direction and polish can sway people towards the path of never touching the game ever again, but I am so goddamn happy that a game I have always dreamed of is sitting in my console.

Am I stuck in a honeymoon phase? Doubtful. I have always realized what this game is about and it hasn't failed me since.

Rotation has definitely been dialed down, although I'm not sure about removed completely.

And the disorientation came from when players flew down from the nearby space station, gathered some resources, then flew back out to the space station only to see that it wasn't there. The planet had been rotating while they were mining, and they had lost track of it. Playtesters kept reporting it as a bug, so Hello Games just toned it down loads.

Increased FOV would've been nice but I'll live. As for the FPS, everything has been rock solid so far, I've only noticed drops whenever I stand really close to something while I'm using the mining laser.

One would think it was the space station travelling in those cases though, right?

Anyone have the game crash on them a bunch yesterday?

I saw Dansgaming, and Swiftor suffer multiple crashes; and then during the hours of 10pm-12am (est) I suffered 4 crashes myself, which saw the PS4 log me off, or reboot.

I live in NYC, and my ISP did have some issues last night (completely went down around 12:30am).. So, I'm wondering how much does this game rely on you being connected to the internet? Did sync issues cause my PS4 to hard lock?

I wonder if the PC version will be crash happy too.

Only really have one complaint with this game so far and that is the pop in.

Yep;

What about structures reappearing? nothing like mining a huge mineral deposit, walk a few feet to see it still there; walk back to the mining spot and watch it disappear right in front of you.

So how are people making money? if your concentrating on it atleast.
How many exosuit inventory slots can you have?
Anyone ever see Gold go on gold star sell?

Don't think I got the scale of this shot very well but this was a pretty bigass cliff and a massive pillar was all gold that also went underground. Took awhile to grind all that down, and naturally it was on a radioactive shithole of a planet.

So far, starting out at least, playing as a pirate presents little change. I'm fighting sentries more boldly, and it's not particularly fun, but at least I'm getting more done. I haven't engaged in ship vs ship combat just yet - I'm still on my starter ship, so I won't be doing that until my next jump or so.

I'd imagine pissing the races off wouldn't matter too much since I still interact with them on a positive basis. It's all about the dosh, and the things that make them happy give me the most return.

The biggest difference is that my cash flow is better. It almost might be more beneficial to play trader, as the only difference would be I wouldn't attack ships unless they had a bounty.

So far, I generally just find an outpost, mine around the area, and port the uncommon contents back over. Also, you can sell those green things for fat stacks.

They could have solved this by allowing players to "set a waypoint to the nearest space station" or something similar.

Bummer that it's been taken out for a reason as petty as that.

lol funny video. what happened afterwards did you kill it or flee the planet?

I wish I'd saved the follow up... After I hightailed into Orbit like a coward, I felt initial relief and then utter shame. So, I returned and the hunt began. I found the Alien Badger again, but kept missing with gun, it chased me into a shelter. I took some deep breaths and then burst from my hiding place and Plasma Launcher'd it into oblivion!

The Sentinel came over and scanned its corpse, although it couldn't tell me, I knew it was glad I'd killed it.
