Just finished my first day playing the game and, wow, for me its so far lived up to the hype in in every way and more! I literally just let my imagination go wild as i went exploring the few planets I visited today. The second one I went too was so full of these amazing caverns that I can't even really describe and give it full justice. So beautiful, so wonderful to explore. I kept going down each one I found just to see what I could find. And the little bit of space battles Ive had were a blast. And to think I just started the game. Amazing experience, simply amazing. Its really turning into the space exploration game Ive waited over 30 years for. Cant wait to play more!

Odd thing happened last night. I bought a spaceship off a Gek at one of the stations and promptly afterwards I get attacked by Space Pirates. Now I notice I can no longer lock on to enemies and basically are firing my weapons into open space. I look up in the top right corner and it shows my cannons are at 0% and the game prompts me to recharge them with yellow minerals. I open up the menu but can't find a way to recharge them.

Is this a glitch or am I just missing something?

Seems to be a bunch of people having this "recharge cannons" glitch where it wont let them.

Anyone else have blueprints that don't show up? I get the "already known" message, but they are nowhere to be found. I just got one for an upgraded warp reactor, but it doesn't show up. I even tried removing my current reactor to see if it appeared but it's just not there. I'm pretty sure it's happened blueprints as well. I'm not sure I can ever build a better warp reactor now!

Depending on the path you've chosen, you may need the Atlas Stones later in the game.
If you chose to follow the Atlas path, you're going to need them. If you chose one of the other two paths, you're fine.
As for the Vortex Cubes; sell away!

Does anyone know if the
other two paths have story content and an end goal like the Atlas path
?
If one of them is just random exploring, I wouldn't count that as a path
.

welp, i thought i dodged the preorder ship glitch, but now i ran into something else
i bought a new ship and it had a warp drive thankfully. a bit later i upgraded the drive to warp drive sigma, still doing fine.
then i suddenly got a task to "build warp drive sigma", even though i already had built and used it.
and just now i found plans for warp drive tau and it said "recipe for warp drive tau already known"...look into my inventory and there´s no warp drive tau to be found.

and it seems this has happened with other stuff as well (find a plan for suit upgrade, says recipe already found, but no upgrade plan in inventory).

what to do now? restart? wait for patch? ...?

Ha, look four posts above yours. I just ran into the same problem.

As beautiful and moody ALL of these planets are in their own way (im talking about ~50 planets that i have discovered) there is one thing that is just a pity. Simply said, if you have explored an Area of a certain size (lets say 1 km x 1 km), you have Seen THE WHOLE PLANET.
I know, the tech behind it and everything "prevent" more variety on a planet but still..leaves a Bad taste in my mouth.

Also where are the giant snakes?? The HUGE animals? Anyone came across any lifeform taller than 5 Meter ??

I ran into a 5-7 meter tall monster that had the body of a t-rex with the head and antlers of a deer.

I didn't dare go anywhere near it. Saw it from mountain top.

I feel like I might be doing something wrong. I'm not finding much, but I am exploring. Nothing Atlas, no passes, nothing. Finding very few things that will help me along the path of words, etc.

Frustrated seeing other people's progress. I haven't jumped into another system yet, so I wonder if that is the problem. I don't know if something unlocks after I do that.

I found a blueprint terminal in a manufacturing facility that always crashes the game when you try to access. :o
Damn, make sure to use the report crash thing and attach screenshot/video if it doesn't hard lock your system. Repro crashes like that will be invaluable to them in make things more stable.

I am officially a millionaire in NMS.

I made the mistake of commenting in the review thread. How fucking dumb I am.

Nobody is interested in having an actual discussion on the game's merits or short-comings. It's really frustrating. I think I'll have to treat NMS threads like I do David Cage threads. Not worth engaging in discussion with those people.

Any positive impressions on the game are dismissed as you lapping up the sweet nectar of Sean "The New Molyneux" Murray's "promises." Maddening. I thought maybe I'd leave my impressions for people to read, but people don't want to read positive impressions (even when I included a few paragraphs of my own personal negatives). They want shitshow 24/7. The game is overhyped hot garbage. There's no reasoning with people like that. It's a shame, because legit discussion could be had about the games shortcomings and successes, and that'd be beneficial largely due to the fact that Hello Games is actively improving and building on the game, so constructive criticism is pretty valuable.

Anyway that's the last I'll say about that thread. It's disappointing and embarrassing. The internet sure does love its meltdown threads...

On another note, it is a boring fucking day at work. I wish I was at home playing more NMS. I really want to wrap up this moon and move on to my next star system, but I can't bring myself to leave with those 5 undiscovered animals on my checklist...

Can you hide in your ship from Sentinels? (never tried that) Can you attack from your ship? Id decimate the entire race on that planet then loot the entire thing lol.
You can hide in the ship, but they still attack while you're on the ground. Didn't try attacking back, since they'd have to be right in front to be shot and once you're off the ground, you're immediately out of their range anyway.

It's definitely helping my Sentinel kill stat, that's for sure.

You can hide within the outposts, so that kind of makes easy to avoid Sentinels.

you should go to other systems

I am loving the game but there are definitely criticisms to be made.

Unfortunately for a lot of people they are already down the rabbit hole of a scandal that barely exists in the first place.

I'd be shocked if over 50% of those people have played the game.

No seriously does anyone have a hyperdrive past sigma (300ly jumps)

I do, 450 or so regularly atm. No clue what its called, but I found it in a crashed ship and switched to that ship solely because of the drive.

Er, yeah, that's one problem. Did you interact with the beacon at your starting ship to get the initial choice? What else have you done so far?

I dunno what path you're on but I think a generally solid rule of thumb for this game is going to be, "if you want to advance, keep jumping toward the center."

Question I just though about: I assume PC and PS4 players share the same universe? Like I'll be able to find PC player's discoveries and vice versa? It'd be weird if they were segregated in any way.

Late-game questions:
Has anyone gone to the next galaxy yet? From what I've read and heard, seems like you need to travel through multiple galaxies to reach the center of the universe. Has anyone gone that route, or are they stopping at Euclid?

i think this guy posted in the wrong thread too
The later hours got better for me because I understood what I was supposed to be doing much better and everything started flowing much better. I could hold my own against a large group of pirates, protecting fleets of frieghters. I could tough out the extreme storms on crazy weather planets. I was customizing my ship and weapons like crazy and noticing a huge change in the games pace.

I could go towards the center if I want with the ability to make farther jumps after upgrading my warp drive. I keep on finding better and better ships and multi tools. The combination of weapon upgrades in both your ship and multi tool is actually a lot of fun to mess around with.

The inventory system was pissing me off at first but once I figured it out it actually became fun to mess around with. Lining up your upgrades with matching upgrades gives them an extra boost and actually takes some work to get a unique multi tool or ship thats totally personal.

I can go from atlas station to atlas station and get rewards and continue on that path ignoring the center all together. Or I can head for the center. Or I can just go try to find nice planet to snap screenshots at.

Im over 30 hours in and can easily see putting in at least 100 hours into this.

Some people like to play loot based games and get all exited when they get a new gun or a rare hat. I get the same sort of satisfaction I suppose, when I discover a new ship thats better than my old one and I have to put in time fix it up. It can actually be quite challenging if you find one you really like on a hostile and barren planet. There is a definite sense of reward after completing something like that.

Plus there is the sense of discovery and yes, for me at least, I still am in awe every once in a while after seeing like 40 or more planets. I still run into one every so often that is just so wildly different from the rest.

Sometimes finding a paradise like planet and just walking around looking at stuff is a nice break from the grind.

Spending hours mining and collecting rare items and trading to get lots of money to purchase new weapons and ships is also a satisfying payoff IMO, and a totally different way of reaching those same goals. So is taking out starships and collecting the loot they drop to make monies. Or you can mix it up and do a bit of all of it. It just takes a long time.

So yeah, its not a perfect game and it has flaws for sure. Sometimes planets can be samey (which I just leave right away), it can be glitchy as fuck sometimes, the crashing is frustrating. The begining was really slow moving. The fade in or pop in can be distracting. The monoliths are disappointing. Caves seem pointless to me outside of escaping the weather. Maybe I will find a goody in a cave one of these days.

So far I dont really know what the relationship between the races is or what their purpose is beyond, trader race, tech race and warrior race. It would be nice if that was a little more fleshed out but I do enjoy reading the bits of lore they sqeeze in there. Their civilizations could also be a lot more unique to one another visually.

All in all I think its a fantastic game and it has its hooks in me. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I'm a huge space nerd and I feel a geeky satisfation every time I'm entering the atmosphere of a new planet or having to pulse drive for 4 minutes to reach a planet thats on the outskirts of the system.

Looking up at what we would call a skybox in other games and being able to actually jump in my ship and go there just isnt getting old for me.

Great base game here IMO and if the updates and added features bring enough to the table then I will most likely be in it for the long haul. Already got my $60 worth. GG HG.

I also dont have a PC right now so games of the like are not available to me although I am dying to give a lit of them a try.

Tldr: I liked the game a lot even though it is flawed.

What are the three paths people mention? Also, I just came across the Atlas a second time in my third system, but only have the option to spurn it's help. Is this cause I rejected it at the beginning of the game?

I don't want to miss story stuff.

I'm guessing yeah it's because you rejected it
