It's not. Something must have really broken, maybe related to the servers being absolute shit.

Yeah. They're not there.

Did you start pre-patch or something? They can't disappear, it's just maths they have to still be there. Anyway I'm sorry I couldn't find the answer. Maybe they'll add an easier way to revisit old system in a patch.

I've run from every space battle I've gotten close too but I expect I'll get slaughtered the first time I have to deal with it. On the priority list of things to invest in right now ship defenses/weaponry just seems so low compared to exosuit/multi tool upgrades.
not for me, way at the top of my list :)
I know we're "supposed to" move on and keep exploring, but I so feel the game is open ended enough to do whatever you want. That said, I'd love a way to easily locate a system you've already discovered without a lot of guesswork on the Galactic map.
Yeah I agree. It's easy to get back once you've placed a waypoint, but it's not easy to locate them the first time for that purpose.

For the exosuit, another way you can upgrade is, once you get an Atlaspass, theres always a door on a spacestation that leads to a room with an exosuit upgrade.

For upgrades, it really matters on your ship/exosuit. And if you have bunch of say, mining updates, they can all be in a line as long as one of the upgrades is touching the base of it(ie for mining upgrades, as long as one is touching the mining beam module). What this does is increase their output. Its not necessary but it helps

Yea, have a v1 currently, found a couple that way (v2/3 appear later in the game i take it?)

*Just landed on a snowy planet and it's fecking covered with pods! :D*

So, with upgrades as long as there's a chain of command to the item being added to you get the bonus?

Well that is interesting. I just bought my first ship. Right after I bought it I realized I had three unused warp cells in my hyperdrive that I didn't (I am not sure if you can) transfer over to my new ship. I was like, fuck that, so I reloaded a previous save. The new ship came along with the save reversion, but all of my money and supplies were restored to the previous save state. I think I just got a free ship.

Edit: I love the look of the new ship too. Only 3 more slots than my DLC ship, but it looks better and didn't cost much.

I took a page from your book and answered a distress beacon by attacking the cargo ships. Hah! I managed to get 3 containers open before my phase beams locked on to a pirate that flew in front of me, thus causing me to be attacked by the ship turrets, pirates and sentinels.

Even though I died, I got a ton of titanium from those containers. Good money, too.

Yeah, I figured it was time to go SLI since PC gaming was becoming bigger, yet here my card is just idling along doing nothing most of the time.

However its glorious when its fully supported.

My CPU however is pretty decent. One of them i7 5k series.

IM SO HYPED.
I mean, imagine this game with ultra textures and 4k at 60fps.

it's not a matter of want, it's a matter of NEED

Yeah saves are weird. I died after forgetting to pause when I went out for awhile and decided to just reload my last 'save' when I got back but my grave was still there after reloading.... kind of spooky.

I want to say you get an upgraded atlas pass when you choose
"aid in my exploration" when talking to Nada
at a space anomaly.

And yeah, having a chain of upgrades(as long as they are adjacent to a like-upgrade will give you a bonus to that upgrade.

Man...I miss an old multitool I had, I could fire the mining beam for straight 30 seconds..I shouldve taken a picture of its set up.

Is there any upgrades for your suit that helps you against the cold? The planet I am is getting annoying with it's -70 and more every night.

Exact same thing happened to me, except it turned out just to be a cosmetic glitch, where I had the function of my original ship with the skin of the new one.

Soon after, I recalled my ship back to a spot and I realised I was flying my old ship again.

Yeah phase beam is the way to go for ship-to-ship combat but I switched to the photon cannon to be able to just target the freighter and not get any aggro from the pirates. The turrets did start going after me but they can be destroyed as well if you see where they are.

Also in my current ship situation I need to nope out while it's still just a 1-star from the sentinels.

When you say you made money even though you died, you died in the battle, went back to get your stuff and it was over? So then you just went to sell unperturbed?

Yeah, that seems to be a glitch with the memory thats loaded. When you directly load a save in your current playthrough, it "remembers" the new ship.

Its like a soft reset from the days of Genesis...yknow..that Xmen game..where you had to reset after that fat spider boss...

Yeah, I wish they just kept a path log somewhere that listed each system you discovered in the order you discovered them, so you could get back to any system you went to. Though I am guessing it might be a thing where there's a lot of risk there in terms of how large such a log might eventually get. Maybe even just always keeping your starting star system as a permanent waypoint would be good enough, so players could always see exactly how far they have come, and could warp back there anytime (and you'd just have to figure out what route you took from there to wherever else on your own).

2 things that I really hope they can add to the game is a way to trace back your steps on the galaxy map and some sort of compass or map when you're on a planet.

Press Display and there is a log of the systems and planets you have visited in order.

NOooooooooo. You guys are right. Just visual glitch. God damn it. I liked that ship.

Sorry - to be specific I'm talking about the galaxy map. I suppose though you're right in that they're already keeping that data somewhere, so maybe they should just add a button on that screen to take you to that system on the galaxy map.

So I just saw a planet with an innocent looking undiscovered name, figured, hey, this sounds like a nice place!

NOPE. Sandstorms and searing heat during the day, freezing cold and snowstorms at night, and the place is fucking riddled with neigh-immortal beetles that look like a baboon's arse and chase you around biting. Noped the fuck out, I hardly knew ye', Stormarsea.

Exactly. I hope there's nothing limiting their ability to do that, it seems like it should be possible, based on the "find nearby discoveries" thing if nothing else.

Not only that but pressing start gives you a list of all your discoveries anyhow. Hopefully its not too hard to add a "add waypoint to planet/system" to that, which will show up on your map.

I had a bug where I took off in my ship from a planet, and whent right out to the orbit of the planet.. :)
Happened to me a few times too - nothing a patch can't fix though - really hoping they patch in the Temporal Anti-Aliasing in the next update, among other miniscule things; aside from that still having a blast

Started the game yesterday.

The first word to come to mind is haunting. I felt alone and it actually scared me. As I collected resources, I found myself in a huge cave which worked out well since it shielded me from the radiation.

Then it became a horror game. These fucking spindly bug-spider things started attacking me in random areas of the cave, making creepy skittering hissing noises. I had gotten so deep into the cave, I had no fucking clue where the hell I was or how to escape. (it didn't help I was still learning the mechanics and at a loss on how to refill my depleting life-support, mining gun, and health). It goes without saying that trying to outrun these nightmare fuel spiders in a dark cave while I was slowly dying, and knowing fuck-all about which way I was going was terrifying. I was desperate to see daylight and wandered around for what felt like 40 minutes. I finally made it out and was so happy to see my ship.

The ordeal provided me with the resources necessary to repair it and I was off. If I wasn't already, the second word to describe this game came to mind; overwhelming. I was at a loss for the scale of this game. After breaking through the atmosphere and looking at where I'd just come from, the scale was utterly staggering. It was almost frightening the amount of freedom I had.

I'd been on a media blackout for this game since the first two trailers and gameplay demos, so I really didn't know much going in. Is everyone's starter planet the same? Same creatures? Or do we all start on different areas?

The tutorial UI isn't very good and makes picking up the mechanics and gameplay systems rather difficult. It's a lot to take in at once. That said, I'm excited to continue even if I'm not sure what lies ahead. Time to build the hyperdrive I guess?

This sounds awesome. Enough to make me want to purchase the game.

No, started yesterday. What I'm thinking is that perhaps the names actually aren't procedurally generated, but rather randomly generated. And because there were severe network issues yesterday (I wasn't connected most of the time) my discoveries weren't synced and the names were lost and regenerated. Or something. Because if they are there they shouldn't be this hard to find. I've checked every nearby star (not just the ones connected by lines) several times over, and there's just nothing.

Right now I don't even feel like continuing, because I don't want a broken universe/save.

Not only that but pressing start gives you a list of all your discoveries anyhow. Hopefully its not too hard to add a "add waypoint to planet/system" to that, which will show up on your map.
That's what he means. Just make it so that if you hold X over the system discovery on the discoveries page, it takes your cursor to that system on the galactic map.
What's this placing a waypoint??
On the galactic map, select any system (other than your current one, which is kind of annoying) and hit square, it will place a waypoint that makes it easy to spot and you can also use the new path option "path to waypoint."

So I'm at the
last Atlas interface and I only have 7 stones. Is it worth it to hunt down 3? Is it even possible? What are my other options?

Watching some higher level streams makes me so jealous of how much inventory space there is but finally getting a better understanding of upgrade positioning.

When you say you made money even though you died, you died in the battle, went back to get your stuff and it was over? So then you just went to sell unperturbed?

When I died, the battle was still going on, but it reset my standing with both factions, so they weren't going after me anymore. I got my stuff and left ASAP.

you basically get
nothing for it. you "birth a star that another traveler will awake on" which MIGHT mean you are creating a new planet as a spawn point for players. but you can't name that planet, see that planet or ever find it so it might as well be nothing

Ok I think big towers of ore (like the pic I posted before) are glitched. Game can't keep how much did you mine it so everytime you go back it half respawns full.

You can actually dupe your ship inventory if you reload after getting killed in your ship. When you do it you'll be restored and your grave will still be there with a duplicate of all of your ship cargo.

I wonder if that style of hit and run remains viable, or if eventually your faction standing means they'd just be shooting you on sight even if no attack is going on otherwise. I'm sure I'll find out eventually.

jesus, i just had this weird moment, where i was looking at the star map, deciding where to jump next (i'm one system away from my 'home' system) and i had this weird feeling that i woulnd't ever see my "home planet" anymore.

i'm legit sad right now, because i know i have to move forward in this journey, and there is really no point looking back... still ... :( :(

Lameeee. Looks like I'm continuing on to the core then.

Found a planet with caves littered with the sentinel "cubes" and nabbing them doesn't alert them. Got about 1.5m in about an hour of grinding. So how do you create a waypoint or somesuch for a particular system/planet? Def want to be able to come back to this system again.

Yeah, apparently you can't backtrack. I wish I had known that.

Has anyone found any system they've already been to on the galactic map? I simply can't. Logically the last one I visited would be within one jump on the galactic map, but it's not. It doesn't seem to exist. This may sound silly to some, but this is the biggest disappointment of the game for me so far.

Really? What the fuck. So the systems are just a random collection of stars with no actually coherence in location and such? That really sucks.
8I9Xpskh.jpg

This is my friend last night back tracking to his starter System. IT IS possible so please don't have people think it isn't. You may not be able to find yours because of some server issue? I don't know, but you can definitely backtrack.

Edit: I will say that it took him about 45 minutes of searching. It seems that once your warped forwards you skip a few systems instead of just 1.
