Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

10 hours in, just got to the second island. I'm loving the game, definitely want to take my time with this one.

I tried to toy a bit with the Festival Plaza, but man is it utterly confusing. Should I stay away from it until the postgame or should I bother mastering it now? Seems pretty overwhelming.

Festival Plaza is where GTS and Wonder Trade are, so you should look into it if you want to trade.

See an Abra and I'm like...

He's gonna teleport, lets just throw this pokeball.

Doesn't catch and he teleports.

Some things never change regardless of generation

So I just met Team Skull and holy shit, I think they are my favourite dumb bad guy team

Agreed. I am in love with Grunts A & B. They have so much personality and are absolutely huge dumb dorks.

Later on you get the chance to ask them "...who are you again?" I enjoyed their reactions.

Kind of asked this before, but does anyone know why my stalls are closed in Festival Plaza? I haven't participated in any of them at all today, and they keep telling me to "come again tomorrow."

WIth how hand-holdy the game can be, I'm kinda surprised at a change they made, and also annoyed as hell.

Memory serves, it used to be if you didn't want a pokemon to learn a new move it gained while leveling up, you got a prompt asking basically "are you sure?" Not anymore. Click not interested (or whatever the option is) and its just a straight "Ok, move not learned."

Because I slipped slightly while playing, my rowlet did not learn Razor Leaf. And then I looked up where the move relearner is, figuring if it wasn't too bad I could deal with it. Apparently its right before the endgame?! Ugh.

Now I gotta reset and do the whole trial again.

In XY at least, pokemon with increased affection to you gain an experience boost, that may be it.

I've noticed this as well, and was literally just thinking in my head how easily someone could accidentally miss out on a move. And yes, the move relearner is way too fuckin' far off. Alolan Marowak's signature move, Shadow Bone, is learned a level BEFORE it evolves into a Marowak. Meaning you can't even have the friggin' move on it until late game. It's a damn good thing Flame Charge is available as a TM, because then I'd just be carrying around a cooler looking Cubone. GAH.

At least it learns Hex and Will-O-Wisp. ...BEFORE IT EVOLVES. What even.

Alright, Pre-Elite 4 round-up:

Khan (Incineroar)
Anncore (Dhelmise)
Bearneace (Bewear)
Holo (Ninetales)
Olimar (Wishiwashi)
Lubbin (Vikavolt)

Y'all are nuts, this game ain't hard. You must be using trash mons like Yungoos and the Toucan or something.

It's hard when you intentionally avoid using your highest level Pokemon. I'm sure every fight would be a joke if I used my Mudsdale but I want my Pokemon to level evenly.

Totem Wishiwashi with no grass Pokemon aside from a low level Steenee was rough.

Two steps forward, one step back, Game Freak.

Like, the move thing I mentioned just leaves me baffled. Why remove the confirmation prompt? Poeple like me get screwed over. I was just lying in bed playing and the game slipped slightly in my hand and then whoop, no Razor Leaf. I'm sure it doesn't matter overly much in the long run for Rowlet but it still annoyed the hell out of me.

And yeah that move releaner is also equally baffling, especially when the move deleter himself shows up in what, the first city? Why even have him so early if you then put the relearner separately at the freaking end of the game?

And I'm still po'ed about apparently charjabug only able to evolve at a specific place on the fourth island. I wanted vikavolt while playing up damn it.

My Pokemon are all the same level, which is slightly lower than the bosses on average. Usually one Pokemon ends up higher leveled by the end but still.

I used steenee too! The one you trade for 😁

Yeah, the Marowak situation is like your Charjabug situation. I hate having things held off soooo late into the game. I love having my team with a decent moveset at least someone earlier than that. But unfortunately, I'm having to use pretty lame moves on my Marowak because it just can't get anything else until later.

And what baffles me is that the move deleter/relearner were in the same location in X/Y. Wh-why go back?

Alright let me stop ranting, I'm actually mad now, lolol.

Can the Wild Charge TM be found in the game, TM93? Don't particularly want to leave my Pikachu as is until level 50...

Also, when can I start buying adrenaline orbs in the shops? I wanna try some chaining but it seems like a chore otherwise.

Even with Dartrix it was actually tougher than I expected. Had
Soak
of all moves, which is an actually pretty genius counter for an AI.

Dewpider kicks ass. Along with it's abilty, it's almost criminal that you get the Scald TM and Waterium Z together so early. Plus mine is about to evolve, so she and Mudbray are about to destroy the next trial.

I dunno about that, but along the journey, you can get both Volt Tackle and it's Z-Move Crystal.

The move deleter is now useless, that's why. There's no HMs to delete so you can just replace any move.

The move reminder is much better now and can allow Pokemon to learn any move that it gets at any level, not just certain moves. That's why it's at the end of the game now.

What level was it? Mine had just evolved and was doing crap damage to the boss.

I just finished the first island. I'm loving it so far, but am I finally at the point where the game will stop holding my hand? At first I thought that point would be after Hau'oli City, but it lasted the entire island.

Slightly disappointing that the first time I actually felt some sense of exploration was finding Seaward Cave. It was a location no one ever mentioned and no one conveniently funneled me to. Even the entrance for it wasn't anything special, just a literal hole in the wall. There wasn't much in there, but I enjoyed the feeling of not knowing what was in store.

It also doesn't help that Kukui, Lillie, and Hau seem to be there at almost every little checkpoint. Mind you I actually like these characters, but it lessens any surprise to running into them when you've already seen then a dozen times.

Minor nitpicks: HP bar moves slow as fuck. Trainers need to have more than 2 Pokemon from now on, or at least be similar to the Red Card Ace Trainer. Other than all this though, game is pretty great.

Torracat beat that 4th Trial with super ease.

I love that the Munchlax that Mystery Gift gives comes with Hold Back. Gotta use that instead of False Swipe I guess.

I forget lol, but I was getting some nice mileage out of Z-splash and Razor Leaf. Basically destroyed both at the same time. Pikachu just soaked up attacks to Static big Washington first.
