Stealth section? :|

If it's the one I'm thinking of it's not too hard if you're patient.

Use Magnesis to see the target you're following.

And make sure to talk to him before going into the building you follow him to once he reaches it.

I been thinking about this, and i don't agree its fair to say the previous 3D Zeldas were not a product of their time.

Wind Waker tried to expand the overworld with a mix of exploration, adventure and linear dungeons with a radicall new artstyle, thats the closest that came to a classic.

But see,A game like BotW could not have been done on Wii or GC. No it would not have been the same, looked as nice or have the same overworld/gameplay complexity, the others were limited by them either focusing on the dungeons or trying to justify the motion controls, yet BoTW is filled with innovation and amazing handcrafting

When i play this game i cant help but think about how many ideas the developers had for Zelda over the years that could not have been realized until now. BotW is a prime example of innovation through graphical advancements.something that Nintendo has been a bit slow as of late, but boy did they finally arrived.

I don't disagree that HD console tech was required to make BotW as good as it is. However, WW could have totally made good on a lot of it.

Imagine WW with the ocean replaced by explorable lands given the same care in design as in BotW, and Link has a climbing mechanic. It wouldn't need to look as good as BotW because of the stylized direction. But if it had the same effort put behind it, we could have totally got a lot of BotW done before. But Nintendo is a very conservative company and, as you say, they were chasing OoT too much to break from it.

Well, it's all noise now. Hopefully the success of BotW will give Nintendo the backbone to radicalize their future work in a good way.

Alright, sooooooooo I need help with the Chaas Qeta "Major Test of Strength" shrine.

During the sequence where the Guardian spins with the laser (causing an updraft) requiring me to do something else other than wail on him? Because I swear it looked like he stopped taking damage outright. Saw on GameFAQs you're supposed to deflect a laser, but the only lasers I get that can be deflected are the multishot ones, but deflecting it doesn't hit him because he's moving too fast.

So, am I missing something obvious, just need to keep at it, or did Nintendo give me a bugged shrine?

If he's spinning you can just wait it out, he stops eventually. The laser you deflect is when it retracts and turns blue.

I use the updraft to get close to it and use a falling attack. Even if it doenst land the AoE stops it. You can also wait it out or use a thunder arrow

You can use the updraft to lift up, and then slam your weapon on him from above...or drop a bomb.

There are some really great shrines in the game.

Shrine spoilers ahead:

-The desert island where you had to survive without any of your equipment was amazing. Really well done and I was on it for like an hour because I kept killing myself when fighting the boss.

- On top of lanaryu mountain was a massive dragon you have to free. Then it just flies to space!

I also beat a dungeon which was interesting. It was good and about what I expected but the lead up to it was way better.

This is really just a great game all around. I only have the map for 3 of the provinces and its just crazy the amount t of stuff they packed into it.

Or shoot it in the eye using the time slow arrow draw while you're in midair

I paid the last Great Fairy her ridiculous asking price and now I have a 78 defense rating with my highest rated armor (I can get it to 88 if I get lucky and find another meteor thing). 101 shrines cleared, most sidequests cleared, all memories found...

Still need to clear the Goron dungeon and beat the game, plus there's a lot of Hyrule Castle I haven't explored yet. I might use a guide for those last shrines, there are only 2 or 3 places on the map where I don't think I've been yet.

Making my way through the
Goron main quest
and man the environment in
Death Mountain
is spectacular.
Ice arrows
are super useful right now too.

I was on the desert headed to
the Yiga clan hideout and then looked up into the mountains to see a giant fucking dragon. I had a loud vocal response to that. Couldn't believe what I was seeing lol

Stasis + is busted, even if certain enemies are only frozen for 2 seconds, that leaves just enough time to get a critical hit for them to fall down

I understand the attack patterns (aside from the laser bit- was confused for a second xD); I think the issue is that my weapons are too weak or something. Literally, it looked like no damage was being taken at this part in the fight, regardless of whether I used arrows or a drop attack. Maybe I'll just
Stasis
and then bomb it to death?

Hmm, I may have to revise my opinion about a certain weapon...

I was out looking for stuff to sell, when one of those flying Guardians decided to get nosy. And then the Master Sword lit up... It takes a certain kind of madness to challenge a helicopter to a swordfight. But then again, the Master Sword is no ordinary blade and it really hates helicopters. So a semi-long fight later and Link was standing in a pile of wreckage, unharmed.

Makes me wonder if I can take on a walking one, too. I never actually tested what they can do in melee range... If they only have the laser, the circle-strafing with the Master Sword might be enough to win.

Oh and a little tip on the Master Sword. Temporary hearts are amazing with it. As long as all your red hearts are full, you can shoot energy disks from it with the R button. It doesn't care about the extra ones.

Chasing OoT? Not really. What they've been chasing is fans expectations, because not doing that blew up in their face with Wind Waker. Except fans expectations keep changing. Twilight Princess was a response to Wind Waker's art Style. That's what fans wanted. Fans are the ones who wanted OoT 2.0. They just deicded that they actually didn't want that when they finally got it. Then Skyward Sword was a response to Twilight Princess's boring open world *and* art style. And this game was a response to Skyward Sword's handholding and linearity. Thankfully, this time it looks like it hit the mark.

Fans are the ones who keep changing what they want, and for some reason Nintendo kept listening rather than just saying fuck it and doing what they wanted like with Wind Waker.

I both agree and disagree. I'm not saying BotW exactly as I'm more talking about the direction. They couldn't have exactly made a game of this scale, sure. But the departure feels like that they themselves got tired of the OOT formula, and moved to something more radical. There's a myriad of reasons for why they didn't go this direction sooner(sticking to what works, chasing after OOT's accolades, hardware gimmicks of the time, Nintendo making it easier in hopes people get to finish the game, etc.) but it could have been done. Not as big or pretty, maybe. But gameplay wise? sure.

On a side note, I liked TP the most out of the three before Wild. Wind Waker just doesn't hold up to me in some aspects aside from art style and charm.

Just finished my 2nd Divine Beast
Goron
. I found it easier than the first one I did
Zora
by a country mile. The map mechanic was really cool, but the puzzles felt so simple. The boss too, was incredibly easy with arrows. Trivialized the whole fight.

Use a guide? You should be writing the guide!

After searching everywhere, I finally found the
Hylian Shield
in Hyrule Castle. I must have looked everywhere except where it was first because I went up and down the place like three times before I got to it.

After that I used the peak of Death Mountain as a point to glide all around Akalla from, didn't find anything major in that region though. Well, other than
Robbie's Lab. But no one was there. :( I wonder if that guy is still alive?

Then I remembered that on my way to Death Mountain the path split between the mountain and Zora's Domain, so I went back to the split and found Sidon. He was like "you can't climb here because it's raining", but I was like "do you realize how much stamina I have" and managed to break away from the main path anyway. Somehow ended up in Zora's Domain before Sidon and had to go back and find him lol.

Zora's Domain is gorgeous just like people have been saying, and the Zora girls are...surprisingly cute. Didn't realize it until I got here but I really appreciate how differentiated every NPC is in this game. There must be 20+ Zoras in the town but every one of them is just different enough to make them feel like their own character, and there are even kids.

About the story there
seeing how people actually remembered Link from 100 years ago blew my mind. And some of them even knew him personally! And all the old guys hate him. Really cool concept that really makes you think "Oh yeah, Link actually died."

Sidon told me to
go kill a Lynel to get shock arrows but conveniently enough I had spent most of the day killing Lynels already (2 in Hyrule Castle, 1 in the Colosseum, 1 in Akkala) so I had more than enough to skip this part.

Infiltrated the Divine Beast and man was it cool. The sequences leading up to the dungeons have all been pretty great so far but I think that one was my favorite. Gonna save the dungeon till tomorrow, it'll be my 3rd.

All you really have to do for the walking ones are just tear each individual limb apart ala The Incredibles style, to my knowledge they don't have any melee attacks

I DID IT! Finished that damn map completely......
No prize for it though :(

Now to get back to the story. The MS has to wait until later due to certain limiting mechanics which is really dumb since you need about
10 hearts or a bit more which is around 32 shrines worth of spirit orbs. I guess I'll have to shrine hunt if I wanna use the MS vs the bosses.

I love how this game rewards exploration. I decided to turn on Pro mode and climb the nearest mountain. Found NPCs at the top, played cupid, took down some moblins and helped out a village in need. Found tons of herbs and meat and stuff I needed on the way as well.

Just get up and go.

It's 13. And remember you can forfeit your stamina vessels in exchange for extra hearts

Surprisingly, part of me kind of miss the beginning when weapons were easy to break and I was switching and throwing broken ones at the face of my enemies very often.
Now I keep being drowned in high durability and high quality weapons and I even had some of those since what feel like forever.

Obviously weapon spoiler pic :
A nice issue to have I suppose.
that spoiler tag isn't working! Thanks for spoling! >:(

Can anyone help me find the
Great Fairy's Fountain
near
Kakariko Village
? I don't want to know the exact location, I just can't recall some of the hints I've heard in game. Something about the nearby shrines or something?

Here's me looking around for it right now, in the middle of a thunderstorm.

Go back to the Shrine in the Village and start poking around there until you find it.

This game is amazing. I'm not far at all. But off the plateau. I just love jumping in and staying for a while. Hell, I just spent 45 minutes picking apples.
