I don't know why, but I'm like 800x better at splatting foes with the Aerospray than with other rapid-fire weapons. I don't really like it that much but I've pretty much been forced to use it since it works so well :O

Sorry folks, I guess that makes me part of the problem!
It's because as long as you are close you just need to point in their general direction :p

This game gives me cod 4 syndrome straight up

Setting goals for myself to reach and seeing the progress bar makes me want to keep playing

You need a shell from splatfest

I wouldn't mind if these score screens gave me enough time to read them

salmon run is awful for this

Thanks, I guess I'll wait for the next splatfest then. Since I really liked some of the clothes I have with only 1 slot.

They open up as you get higher lvl

right now you should be shopping on Splatnet. I got a hat and shoes that have max slots and I'm level 10.

+ what Haines said

Thanks, I just installed the splatnet app like 1 hour ago since it wasnt ready in Latin america (or my phone just couldn't install it until now) but I already wasted my gold on the low lvl clothes lol.

I'm trying to save now for some 4slotted shoes :)

Aerospray has been great ever since. The MG version now is just much better than before because hurling curling bombs non-stop scares opponents from getting close lol.

No one in my salmon runs know how to kill the boss with the bomb on its head. Jesus three of them were pooled together while I was busy killing the sting Ray bosses that everyone ignores.

So infuriating...

They need to make it so that you can just shoot Flyfishes. It's hard enough getting to them with all the missile spam and adds, but you have to wait for them to open the launchers, throw a bomb that you might not have ink for or miss, then do it again for the other box. It's the main killer of my Salmon Run runs.

Fuck them. At least brolly bombers you can missile back in their stupid faces

Move out then move back in the room if your teammates are scrubs :p

The key to Salmon Run is knowing what to kill with the given weapons, and of course communication.

I had to solo the bomb boss with a paint roller... Or was it paintbrush? A close-range weapon nonetheless, and I'm new to the game! Oh, The joy of PUG.

If youre talking about the recent salmon run that ended then yeah its a real problem with the weapons youre given.

3 short range weapons makes steelheads impossible to hit.

Duelies do great vs everything but honestly the gatling gunner/charger is the one that should be killing those

I mean im sure the dualies are excellent at lower levels but once you get high enough youre gonna want the range.

It also really depends on who has what weapon. The guy who gets the splatling is who should be taking out steelheads.

Actually, duallies can easily reach it, and vertical flick of the roller can do some damage, though not as effective. Paintbrush is the only one that can't beat it 1v1 unless the user is on a high ground while the enemy is below.

Aerospray is fantastic, and I've gotten so many kills with the curling-bomb launcher.
I played against you in a turf battle earlier. Your team beat me. I just go by Byron on Splatoon. It was a good match, I assume you are the female Inkling with the student outfit and hair barette.

I really want to be good at not-roller but everything else feels like it takes twice the effort to be productive.

And tenta missiles make me want to break stuff, especially when people use them literally 5 seconds into a match.

How are they doing that?

The steps I took to make this kind of image was to take a picture, make it 320x120 in Photoshop, then play around with the brightness / contrast before saving as a 2 color gif with dithering. It'll basically give you the pixel blueprint to then go row by row. It's tedious though - it can take a few hours to finish. Mistakes aren't a big deal at least, since it'll look fine even if you have a few.

This took about 2-3 hours with a couple distractions in the middle.

I've taken to just avoiding them if I've hit the quota until the time runs out. Bombs are hard to aim and I can only do 1 at a time, it's infuriating

That moment when you're like, "Last game of the night" and then SplatGAF starts showing up in your room. And then it's like, "Okay, I guess I'll play for another HOUR AND A HALF."

...This game is too addicting.

Guys I don't get it. How do I get good? Been 3rd or 4th on my team. Do I paint the world or shot people?? what is better? Aiming is hard with both motion and analog controls

I posted last night but didn't get an answer ; is there any kinda math/analysis behind boosts, i.e. swim speed? Like how much does it improve your base swim speed? 20%? And how do the sub-abilities stack with a main swim speed ability? Been looking at Squidboards but can't find much on it.

Also - Salmon Run blows today. Heavy Splatling is just absolute shit. Super hard to kill the head-balloon things.
Toad and Crash posted some useful information about gear earlier. I don't think we have definitive graphs for Splatoon 2 yet but the scaling should be functionality similar.

They are all listed in the manual. Press - while in the Salmon Run area.

Yes. I don't have a Splatoon 2 chart yet, but here is the Splatoon 1 chart.

Ability_Overview_Chart.png
Yes, sub abilities have less power than a main ability. The techincal rundown is that a main ability is worth "10 points" towards the ability improvement scale, and sub abilities are worth "3 points". Thus, 3 subs of the same ability total to 9; slightly less than a main's 10.

Crash331 posted a link to the Splatoon 1 charts to give you an idea of how abilities scale with diminishing returns; it's likely not exactly the same in Splatoon 2 so don't use it as 100% gospel.

I'm currently playing through the campaign and really appreciating how I'm getting a chance to try out the various weapon types in a non-competitive environment. The ability to use all weapons in single-player and not need amiibo is a great improvement over the first game. I hope the DLC weapons get added to the campaign as they get added to multiplayer, but I'm doubting that will happen.

My other takeaway from the campaign is that the soundtrack is awesome. I really wish Nintendo regularly sold their soundtracks outside of Japan. I think I'll send them an email just to make my opinion heard.

Is it possible to use anything besides the default weapon (Splattershot, Jr.?) in multiplayer before you hit level 4?

It's because as long as you are close you just need to point in their general direction :p

It tru :'(

Guess I ought to be more disciplined and start using something that requires a little more finesse, if I'm to stand a chance at something other than Turf War.

But damn son, that Aerospray sure can LAY DOWN that ink. I'm almost always first on my team, just because it puts that shit down THICK.

Anyone have any tips for the charger? I can't seem to do well with it.

Use them on Moray Towers lol. I used to main E-liter in the first game, it certainly is very hard to have any success with. I guess for starter, pay attention to the flankers, and don't poke around when your teammates are dead, stay behind cover and act as a beacon letting them super jump to you. This way you can contribute a little even if you are not doing much killing.

Flyfishes are the bane of my salmon runs.

Better yet let you pick the weapons for salmon runs. Charger and rollers are worthless there imo

I think the reason the aerospray feels bad is because the maps are smaller, so you're forced to fight more and it can't fight well. If left alone it can obviously dominate the map, but anyone who is halfway decent will just push you.

I never had problems fighting. You just have to be sneaky since you will lose in a straight fire fight most of the time.

You're kidding? For real? Thats lame.

Can we just lobby up?

Its such a bizarre experience with only 2 maps rotating at once. Its like Nintendo heard about online but never actually designed it.

One person can join a game and then everyone can try to rush and join that one too, but you'll probably miss it and have to wait for the next game. Then, it'll just be random if you're put on the same team or not, and it changes teams every game. If you are three or more people it seems impossible to ever be on the same team. I play with two friends and we have never been on one team. Always 2v1.

----

The SR boss that shoots rocket artillery might be the worst. It causes so much havoc and it requires you to be standing right in front of it trying to aim your ONE AND ONLY ONE bomb at it, AND it requires TWO.

There's multiple ways to be on the same team with a friend:

- You can join their lobby through the friend option, though this doesn't guarantee you'll be on the same team each time.

-You can create a private lobby with only friends and choose what the teams are.

- You can do League battles where you play with friends against strangers, but you and your friends have to reach B- rank to take part in this.

I feel like the problem is a lot of bosses are invincible to forward ink fire making splatlings and chargers worthless
