Destiny looks pretty darn good...actually better than i thought it would. Couple of questions Nick....
1. Is there a photo mode implemented?
2. How's the performance at 8k, which GPU's are you using?
3. Do you recommend pre-ordering the game based on what you experienced so far?
Few Mafia III pic's @ native 8k this time. Got a hell of a deal on Dell's 8k monitor, but my God this thing is tiny compared to my 75" Z9D, also it's a small heater lol.
There's no photo mode, not in the Beta anyway but whether they put one in the final game is anyone's guess. I've only touched the solo mode and it doesn't really feel any different from Destiny 1 so far. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I'll try the PvP tomorrow and see how that differs. I'd hold off from pre-ordering for now if you've played Destiny 1 and are expecting some major changes because it doesn't look like there's a whole lot different. Looks amazing though..
Hah, don't even ask. I'm on one 980Ti and just for the sake of screenshots I turned it up to 8k but it's not playable for me by any means. The in-game FPS counter was giving me an average of 20-30 fps at 8k so performance looks great if you're aiming for 4k on a single top of the line card..you should have no problem hitting 30-40 fps with your SLI set up @8k.
Hmmmm. Those models kinda look like shit up close. Doesn't really seem all that impressive so far, really. Maybe it looks better in motion.
The game looks in these shots like a 'we have to meet the 60fps mark' game tho. Nothing wrong with that (it's a requirement for them, so no compromises in that area!), but not comparable with a 30fps single player game. They compromised clearly in geometry and material shader usage. They could have hidden that with more grain perhaps.[shot]
This guy looks pretty good.

Always funny to read "This game is really well optimized!" coming from people who have no clue how game engines and GPUs even work.![]()
*Every* game studio (well, except Bethesda, as they don't know what they're doing) optimizes the crap out of their games, and every game has a 'budget', related to the target FPS they want to achieve, and within that budget they have to compromise either this or that, but to compromise they have to. The trick is to make it look like they didn't compromise at all yet still make the target fps, so 'stay in budget'.

I think some look like they don't know what they're doing (except Bethesda, they really don't know what they're doing) because they picked the options poorly (e.g. you can have it either cheap, fast or reliable, pick 2) and get burned down by it, which is a shame, but alas, that's the world we live inI know nothing about optimization but it seems to me some developers are better at it than others and that's evident in not only PC exclusives but some of the console to PC ports and vice versa. I don't know if there is such a thing as "lazy developers" either which get's thrown around a lot because as you've pointed out compromises have to made and whether or not those please everyone at the end of the day is always going to be controversial. Then there are those that just have to get it out of the door because of *cough* EA *cough*
It can add more detail and light scattering. Almost done with downloading the open beta, hopefully cheat engine can attach so I can poke around abitThere is a film grain option in the game menu but I turned it off so I have no idea if it looks better with or without it. Worth checking out though!

Destiny 2 looks great tho, and maybe not 100% great in still images, but in motion it looks great. We're a weird bunch who try to look at still images of games and sadly not with enough to make a difference (yet).

(edit) Cheat engine can be attached and used. NiceIt hotsamples too btw. Also nice.
If the game looks good in motion, and your screenshots only make the game look worse, or don't do the game justice, why screenshot it to begin with? There are many reasons to take screenshots of games, of course, and none is inherently better than the other, but I'd like to think that it's a nice goal to aim for shots that make a game shine, or show it in a new light. (Freaking hard to pull off, though.)
the shots I've posted took me a whole freaking day to edit
Well, that'll be hard, as I can't attach a debugger, sadlyIt really does look better in motion, screens don't do it justice. I took a bunch of shots of the area in the final stage of the single player demo but haven't stitched them together yet but it's enough to make your jaw drop. Also, credit to Bungie for including a lot of in-game options. If you get the CT working can I have please..thanks![]()
u wot m8?
What is there to edit that takes a whole day?
Well, that'll be hard, as I can't attach a debugger, sadlyI found some cameras but to find what writes to it (and with that figure out what the real camera is) I need to attach the CE debugger, but that doesn't work
So no camera tools for this game, I'm afraid.
It does look OK, but I'm still at the first fire stairs of the demo![]()

Lol. I mean taking into account the amount of shots I took and then either stitched and/or cropped HUD and blended logo with the background. Takes time when you're an amateur at these sort of things..whole day meaning about 7-8 hours when I should have been at work![]()
Hmmmm. Fair enough.
Is there really no way to toggle the HUD? I played through the beta a bit but never really looked for that option.
Quite like this.Doom

I've really enjoyed your recent run of screenshots from these two games. Those DOF settings you found sound like they might be worth checking out.
Yes, that super sampling control is very useful. If I remember correctly the number "0" (on the top row) holsters the weapon in that game....holster the weapon when playing with kb/m...
