I don't see the word "exclusive" in that statement. In fact both "first" and "best" indicates that games WILL be coming to other platforms, if "second" and "in lesser quality".

If you go by their literal words they are already admitting the games will be multiplat.

But Xbox stans:

If it was your way around they would come out and say it. These games will be releasing on PS5, whether it's at a later date or not. Eventually they will.

I think MS will take the Bethesda catalog and make it exclusive, they could even do something crazy and make it exclusive to Gamepass and that would be a way to drive subscriptions.

You're not going to be playing elder Scrolls exclusively on gamepass ... A Game you can play for years with fan made mods think of how much that will cost you all in all over the years ? ... It'll be on steam as well as the Xbox store .

Also MS would not be happy just having gamepass on every console. If you owned a business, would you want 2 other companies to control the percentage of take you have?
Say MS goes the route of gamepass on PS5 and switch, assuming they even let them (doubtful) and they take 80%. In 2025, after Xbox has died (since it has no exclusives at all), Sony and Nintendo suddenly say they want 60% of the take. What then?

Far preferable and potentially much more profitable to control their own console. Anything else could be a complete disaster.

Also keep in mind for those saying MS message was convoluted, they were restricted on what they could really say before the acquisition completed. Come Thursday (assuming we have the Xbox thing), things will likely clear up.

Hope this means they can revive Fallout...only IPs good at this moment are Doom and Elders Scrolls. Arkane did some good games but they are not big.

So if they do not bring back Fallout to its glory days....not interested.

Apple and Microsoft work together in one partnership and compete against each other verticals. Same with Amazon and Netflix.

I do wonder what they can even clarify at this point. It's premature to come out and say TeS and Fallout are exclusive moving forward, because their next iterations are years and years out. Same for Indiana Jones.

If they do an event surely it would be to announce their back catalogue on Game Pass, those Xbox rated collections (Dishonored & Prey: The Arkane Collection / Wolfenstein Alt History Collection) possibly the status of Starfield and Wolf 3.

We will know once they announce games. However, you have to admit, exclusivity is all everyone talks about. That can't be in their best interest. If Phil thought people were annoying when they asked for Switch ports, wait for the press when they don't clarify.

Congrats Microsoft! I'm waiting for the new Wolfenstein and curious what Starfield will be. I do hope that some of these big franchises stay multiplatform, although i never really played these games on console. The fanbase for these games are more on PC then console.

This needs to stop being said. You don't have to buy a company with cash. There are many ways. And Sony in fact does have the money to make big purchases. They don't need to use cash though.

Size to make the deal profitable? Do you know how big the PS brand is? Maybe you should check sales.

Sony's business model of making a big multiplatform publisher exclusive to 1 device is not sustainable. The economics doesn't work, the reason it works for Xbox is because Xbox is on Console, PC and Cloud gaming. Those are the facts.

Sony is currently behind in Cloud and PC.
