Can’t recommend Samsung products. Their products are garbage just like their phones and all my home appliances.

you sound like an Apple fanboy who us salty that Samsung phones are better than iPhones lol
I still use a Galaxy S7 from 4 years ago and it works almost like new, even the battery is almost perfect still.
so either a Samsung fridge killed your mother or something, or what you're saying is just fanboy bashing
Grow up? Their products are trash. My 4000 dollar Samsung fridge barely makes ice, but it has a nice LCD screen.

Their ice makers constantly fuck up. We manually fix and replace through ordering replacement parts, same with the washer dryer combo. We do all the repairs ourselves!
It's not just Samsung. New refrigerators look great but are junk compared to how they used to be built, like everything else I guess. Since I moved I've had two fridges, from two different brands, and the fucking ice makers are what always breaks first. I also have one from when I was a kid that still works like brand new.Yo, yeah wtf. My twin door 3 layer samsung fridge and the ice maker freezes up constantly. About to get a new fridge as it’s about 4yo already and this issue is ridiculous. But is there a fix?
I suspect it’s related to the ice making component being inside the fridge instead of the freezer. Warmer air gets in and shit melts / freezes in a viscous circle. Just a theory.Turns out the benchmark is just shit based on DF's latest video, I wouldn't worry about it, Op.

He needs update firmwareAhhh that favorite line damn near every company uses.
And their near bulletproof SSDs?Grow up? Their products are trash. My 4000 dollar Samsung fridge barely makes ice, but it has a nice LCD screen.
And their near bulletproof SSDs?
Which arent build by the same factory that builds their frikken fridges?
You are sounding dumber by the second.
PS. In reference to your sentence. You should have used “aren’t built” instead of “aren’t build”.
Go in a PC Shop and tell them to update the firmware for you. Should not take longer than two minutes.well I have the 980 pro and am waiting on a heatsink to arrive before I install it and now I'm slightly concerned. Its my fist ssd and looking at the label it appears to have been manufactured August 2021 so Im hoping the firmware fix is on it. No way for me to tell since my pc doesnt have a m.2 slot on it.

Or ask a friend with a PC to do It for you.
People these days.![]()
You can buy an external enclosure and hook it up through USB.You really need a PC motherboard with two M.2 connectors. My PC has got only one M.2 connector and it's already in use. In my case a simple firmware update is a real hassle. I could put the 980 Pro in my PC, install Windows on it and run the firmware updater, or I could try to boot Linux from a USB drive and update the firmware using this guide (https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/upgrade-update-samsung-ssd-firmware/)
In my case it's going to take quite a bit longer than two minutes to update the firmware.
No you cannot update this drives firmware via usb. Also no, you don’t need to update firmware on the drive. The PS5 won’t report it as faster outside of random inaccuracies in the benchmark. You can buy an external enclosure and hook it up through USB.

Maybe you should read the comment properly. I said how fast It can be If he goes into a PC Shop/ repair Shop. You really need a PC motherboard with two M.2 connectors. Implying a Postscript would require P.S not PS.
The benchmark comes up as soon as you install and format it, it hasn't been used. The benchmark comes up within seconds so probably not as accurate as others. The Samsung benchmark software takes a couple of minutes in my pcMaybe it's overheating in ps5 and throtling speed? If i remember correctly Samsung drives run pretty hot.
Drives overheat and throttle most of the time in the writing process and Not while reading data.Maybe it's overheating in ps5 and throtling speed? If i remember correctly Samsung drives run pretty hot.

I’m in the same boat as youwell I have the 980 pro and am waiting on a heatsink to arrive before I install it and now I'm slightly concerned. The firmware came out in April, if your device was made in July or August, it probably has the latest firmware update on it. Also, I've read that updating the firmware doesn't improve speeds and you get different speeds each time you test it. The test is very short too, so it's hard to get an accurate number. Sony should include a benchmarking tool in the settings app where you can see how your drive is actually performing.I’m in the same boat as you
That’s what I read also. Needs an update to be able to go full speed.Did you install latest firmware for the 980 Pro?
The PS5 requires thiswill state it again... any SSD is a huge upgrade over an old HDD.
old ssd 600mb/s is fucking fast.. so is 2500 so is 3000
stop wasting your money on marketing numbers ffs
it's what they say in no fucking way does it actually need this muppetThe PS5 requires this
5,500MB/s or faster is recommended.
So maybe you should understand before you comment![]()

Sorry I struck a nerve. However, they have a quality control issue.
Some games will require that SSD. You are comparing cross gen games not using the new system and trust on the CPU to load and decompress contentThe first step is to stop believing the PS5 actually requires an SSD that reads at 5+ GB/s when PC games have had equivalent load times for years even on SATA III based SSDs.
What do you mean? Why does the benchmark have consistently higher numbers on other drives? Is it a controller issue?are you basing your speeds on the ps5 internal benchmark? if so, dont, its horribly broken as proven by digital foundries latest video
yes it does, even a 3200mb/s ssd reads as 5200 in the ps5 benchmarkWhat do you mean? Why does the benchmark have consistently higher numbers on other drives? Is it a controller issue?
There needs to be a better benchmark for these drives on PS5. Can't really use games at the moment because nothing even comes close to hitting the drive hard enough to show a difference.yes it does, even a 3200mb/s ssd reads as 5200 in the ps5 benchmark
I'm not sure if it has been mentioned, yet in this thread, but buying a PCie nvme adapter card for a desktop PC is relatively inexpensive - about a 1/10 of the cheapest nvme gen4 drive £10-20 tops - and can allow a drive to be firmware updated. You really need a PC motherboard with two M.2 connectors. My PC has got only one M.2 connector and it's already in use. In my case a simple firmware update is a real hassle. yes, cause ps5 fanboys keep moving the goal posts, R&C was meant to show the POWA OF TEH SSD, but digital foundary proved otherwise, so now its BUBUBUt CROSS GEN BRUH.There needs to be a better benchmark for these drives on PS5. Can't really use games at the moment because nothing even comes close to hitting the drive hard enough to show a difference.
In saying that, the drive is still 60% faster then the competition so whether it could be done there is still up in the air.yes, cause ps5 fanboys keep moving the goal posts, R&C was meant to show the POWA OF TEH SSD, but digital foundary proved otherwise, so now its BUBUBUt CROSS GEN BRUH.
Its just an ssd, first party devs might eventually make use of it somehow but for 95% of games, its just an ssd
Well R&C has the heaviest use of the SSD so far and it’s the only game out right now that makes the SSD it’s key feature, so I see where people would think it’s using it’s full bandwidth.yes, cause ps5 fanboys keep moving the goal posts, R&C was meant to show the POWA OF TEH SSD, but digital foundary proved otherwise, so now its BUBUBUt CROSS GEN BRUH.

Nor would the game perform the same on the PC on that drive with all the extraction layers that bottleneck the platform at the moment. It's all about that I/O and people finally came to terms with that in the other thread. In saying that, the drive is still 60% faster then the competition so whether it could be done there is still up in the air.
