Pretty surprised Portugal is not on the list. Some heavy drinkers here. I used to be one myself. And i would never imagine Sweden or Austria on a list like this.

But you have those boat trips, it's crazy to see, I guess marine lobby is keeping alcohol in Czech (cough) on mainland. But let's be honest, availability of hard liquor in manner which we do it, is not a good solution. When gas pumps are loaded with 40%+ Alcohol drinks in here...

Yup not too long ago many politicians in France said Putin was to be admired for his strength, defense of national interests, opposition to foreign influence etc. It was a common stance with far-right politicians (one of them even said "we need a French Putin"), but also far-left who are against most things coming from US or EU.
Since the Ukraine war they had to backpedal and claim they never said they supported Putin (Marine Le Pen, the current challenger for presidency, is even said to have frantically destroyed all photos taken with Putin for her campaign), but most of them lost a lot of credibility in the past weeks.

I hadn't seen any price jumps that people were talking about until yesterday…all the sudden every grade seems to be up almost $1/gallon. I remember in 2008 having to start a new transaction on gas pumps because they'd max out at $100. Wonder if that's still a thing, probably will find out this week….

It's going to be different in oil rich country like USA and my country which has almost zero oil available on it's land. But still, it seems like it's jumping no matter where, but we are should expect 2.5 EUR/liter within 2 week I read. Sadly I don't really have a money available now to buy some nice electric car. Since driving Audi A6 2018 gives you comfort which is hard to let go...

To be fair to the left of the Labour Party in the UK they are sometimes too quick to use the Russian excuses and blame the west for everything, but they are also consistently anti-war and have been against Putin's wars when the mainstream were looking the other way and shaking his hand. Not sure if that is the smartest policy, though, as Putin wouldn't back down like just that because he saw a handful of old social democrats in parkas protesting in London like they were still students.

That's the subtle worry from many analysts I've seen too come day 30-60. Putin won't back down because he's a psychotic narcissist who can't admit failure and much like Hitler in the end he'd rather see Moscow burn than surrender. He's backed into a corner and so he may use something like a tactical nuke to get Ukraine to submit…sadly a small megaton tactical nuclear bomb in Kyiv might be the one assassination attempt on Zelinsky that would succeed. It had already jumped that high but on the way to work earlier today gas prices are up another $0.30 so within a week there's been an over $1.40 raise in prices.
