Depends on how you think Count Dooku portrayed himself to his troops and how close Jack Black was, versus what he WANTS folks to think. I'm guessing the Mando writers have a jaded cynicism towards ANY government system in Star Wars, be it Republic, Empire, OR New Republic, so it's pretty understandable they would cast the Separatists in a pseudo-favorable light when it is plot convenient. So Dooku was probably the face of the Separatist movement, anyone who couldn't get ahead in the Republic due to class, lack of contacts, or just being born on the wrong planet probably saw a lot of "good" in that movement that did carry over to the Empire. The Galaxy's Edge guys (not the Disney experience, but the alt-Star Wars book series) did a great job of showing why the Republic, away from the POV of it's favored children, the Jedi, had a lot of flaws that allowed the Empire to flourish in the first place, no Sith treachery needed. Andor does this as well.

See, I don't see Jack Black as the buffoon, that was Lizzo. Black was an opportunistic pioneer who worked his way to the top of the food chain by being a trophy husband, all he has to do is climb on top of Lizzo every few weeks and he probably has a droid for that as well. He has a sly cunning, as evidenced by his way of manipulating Bo with the hollow offer of Mandalorian legitimacy. My guess is he was embezzling stacks of gold pressed latinum or credits or whatever the fuck Star Wars uses for hard currency out of that place and had his escape all planned out.

Ok, I don't think he was a buffoon at his real job of being a manipulator. Just at being a leader in his supposed job. But it didn't matter, you are right he had things figured out and was no doubt embezzling hoards of money.

Well that's disappointing. I've been trying to remain optimistic about this season but Disney's need to shove in these dumb novelty appearances really kills my motivation to keep watching.
 
The next episode reveals Moff Gideon is working for Thrawn. Peleon shows up, Hux's father is the one trying to clone Palpatine.

This whole season feels like the writers of Boba Fett are getting revenge for the 2 Mando episodes in Boba. And of course, here too, Mando is suddenly the supporting character.
 
I don't hate this season as many seem to do, visually it's still impressive, even if there is a clear drop in quality from the first 2 seasons.

But now, after this cum-stained fucking episode, with Jack Black and Lizzo as celebrity cameos, I had enough.

The entire story this season has seemed almost pointless til now, I feel like I am watching nothing of substance, but after this absurd celebrity cameo nonsense, that familiar Disney exploitative feeling creeps in, it's tainted now.
 
The importance of the story with The Darksaber to the Mandalorians is an astute representation of accessing the realm of ideas to build a culture and civilization.
 
Mandalorians were cooler before Lucas introduced the Darksaber and yet again tied everything in this shallow universe to the Jedi. The whole concept of a Mandalorian Jedi and Mandalorians considering a Jedi weapon sacred is lame as hell. They should be wiping Jedi off the face of the universe in these:

Hopefully in the series finale they throw the Darksaber and Grogu into a volcano. Then they bunker down in Mandalore space, sit out the entire events of the sequel trilogy, and emerge to wage war against Rey's New Jedi Order.
 
Episode 6 felt like the "Revenge of Bobba Fett's Writers". It was that bad. Not a single redeeming quality IMO.

I've got no behind scenes knowledge or insight, but it feels like the entire IP is in a giant tug of war between people who love Star Wars cannon and people who want to change the world. At this point I don't care who wins. I just want one side to prevail and the other to be fired so we know what to expect before starting a season, movie, etc. I'm happy to stay watching if they get serious again, but not going to cry if it's time to turn the page.

Every time I have reason for excitement, we get: a pathetic tear down of Luke while some purple haired grandmother talks crap about pilots; a merciless bounty hunter turned mob boss who won't hurt people and deputizes kids on rainbow colored mopeds; and now a complete pivot from a story about the TITLE character to a secondary character, starring Jack Black, and following some of the laziest writing possible in prior episodes this season.

Did you hear the one about Mandalorians who let some flying dinosaur eat their kids because their jet packs have fuel limits?

Wait, what do you mean that wasn't a joke?

Edit - Obi Wan did live up to my expectations though. I loved that show. Give us Season 2 already.

The problem IMO is Kathleen Kennedy, she ruins everything in Star Wars she touches.

Dave Filoni and John Favreau should be put 100% in charge of Star Wars at Disney.
 
I haven't seen the new season of Mandalorian but I loved the first and second season. Probably one of the best things Disney has done with Star Wars.

I wonder when Vic Fontaine will appear in an episode?

I would agree, the first two seasons are really good, and I usually hate Disney stuff.

In the third season though, every episode is like an episode of McGyver, it's self-contained with very few overarching stories, and when you start to wonder why it's not built like the first two seasons, then suddenly Jack Black and Lizzo pop up, and Lizzo can't act, she's only in the show because she is fat and famous.

Then it dawns on you, Disney is out to destroy Star Wars, they are shredding this universe bit for bit and are vomiting out content to fill up Disney+.
 
It seems I am one of the few people in the world enjoying this season and loved the Jack Black episode. They're even doing the Jean-Claude Van Damme splits over top this and taking a dump on it over at Reddit - a sub that typically finds joy in every episode somehow.

Ah well. At least I'm getting my money's worth out of my Disney+ sub :messenger_tears_of_joy:
 
I really like this season. There's some interesting big picture stuff that seems to be getting overlooked, and I kind of like it that way. I find myself wondering how can these threads can be overlooked. Maybe the next gen will appreciate showing not telling more. No matter, I like the feeling. That cyborg really kicked it off well for me after the setup in the prev ep with Bo Katan. Before her isolated world was destroyed and reforged by the Armorer after a visit to Mandalore...
 
Another good episode. Grogu in the droid was pretty great. Had me laughing out loud a couple times, and it was interesting how they used him in certain scenes. I'm loving the whole apocalyptic atmosphere of Mandalore and watching this team of bad ass, futuristic, space warriors navigating their way through it.

I loved the atmosphere of the city when that Imperial spy chick was walking through. Oh and the scene where they were talking about Thrawn is very revealing in what direction they are talking the show, and even the whole franchise. I have a feeling that Thrawn is going to play a major role and this is just the beginning. I read the Thrawn trilogy back in the day and he was a fantastic character. I'm really looking forward to finally see him on the big screen.

No idea how they are going to end this season but I can't wait for the conclusion next week.

Damn, reading the comments here I feel like I'm in the minority but the last three episodes have been great and I'm really enjoying this season so far. The start of the season was a bit slow but it's picked up.

Filoni's movie that wraps up the shows is the New Republic vs Thrawn's armada.

The shots from behind as she walked the cityscape reminded me of the original Blade Runner, that's a good thing. A darker and more mature tone like that is where Star Wars peaks for me.

When she talks or fights etc she is solid, when she non-verbally reacts it's bad. They really need to edit/write/direct better to stop repeating that sort of thing. Time for some fresh air.

This mfer tho... one of my favorites from this season for sure. Him pulling out the gatling and just mowing down fools was so much fun to watch.

Wow the latest episode was insane. Gideon! Beskar jetpack troopers! What an OH SHIT moment when you see they already have a garrison on the planet JFC
 
With a little time for the episode to settle, Gideon REALLY stole the show. I can't stop thinking about his scenes both at the start and end of the ep. He is the ultimate bad guy.

The notes of his music theme are timed perfectly during his monologue at the end. What a motherfucker. Best villain since Jafar
