Anyone that says the combat is uninspiring is on cheap drugs. This will end up being the most deep combat system in the series by a long margin. Those turn based fanatics are going to suck it hard![]()

Don't buy it now, simple.Good on them, that means that i'll buy it when it'll get fixed at a discounted price - why spend the 70 now ?
"Buy it now, we'll fix it later" - God, i hate this shit so much, we're literally buying unfinished products ffs.
To all those saying that "it runs fine lol" :
I'll have to repeat myself here : people sure like to shit on games like Redfall and the soon to be released Starfield for their "lackluster" performance and 30fps only modes but, it's like people are turning a blind eye for FF16 ? I don't get it lads, this has got to be one of the worst performing AAA games of the past few years but people are OK with it ? Where are our "standards" now ? Shouldn't we (and the devs also) strive for more/better ?
This is a 2023 "AAA" game that manages to fall below the 24 cinematic fps® mark in some scenes for fuck's sake.
Don't buy it now, simple.
I have no intention of buying it until next year.
This kinda fud is unnecessary. We aren't stupid, and I am sure neither are you. Please, look at the very videos you provided.
In quality mode, the game 99% of the time is locked to 30fps. A drop here or there is not the norm. And in performance mode, while its clear that fps sits between 40-60fps, its also clear that the second you get into combat, it locks to 60fps. All that is in the videos you have provided here.
That you even mentioned redfall in relation to this is crazy if you ask me, as that game didn't just have bad performance but it was broken in every imaginable way. Which is why people piss on it. And the Starfeild refernce, understand this, this game at east has a 60fps mode. And further more, people's issue with Starfied wasn't even that it only has a 30fps mode per se...but its because of the PR fud MS is pushing to suggest that that had nothing to do with the hardware and how they have other games that run at 60fp like we were born yesterday.
What you are saying just sounds like hyperbole. But at the end of the day to each their own. I have played games that run an feels like shit, this didn't give me that impression. Then again, maybe I am just less sensitive to fps swings than you are. But if there is one thing, the general consensus is not that the game performs poorly.Phoenix, you're not necessarily wrong and I get what you're saying BUT there's definitely a double standard being played here IMO.
Also, since I wasn't born yesterday, I don't need Digital foundry nor the German guy's dissection videos to tell how a game performs, I trust my own eyes since I've been gaming for almost 40 years now - that and my LG C2's frame counter which goes into spaz-mode with this specific game.
I get nausea with both modes brother, can't put it any simpler than that, the game, again, runs like shite and it's inexcusable for a AAA game.
The devs are "looking into it" which obviously means that they're aknowledging the shortcomings.
This game needed a couple.of.months.more in the oven - like many other games in this "release now, patch later" era we're living in.
Cheers

Everything coming post launch ofc... by the time everyone finishes the game and moves on it will be fixed. God i hate this so much.
Yeah they have been really upfront with everything. No need for bullshit like the clown leadership at xbox. And at least these devs are acknowledging that they need to improve or fix things... if they took a page of MS book, they could have just come and said some shit about it being for creative reasons.
That's part of it, but I also think it's to do with the target age. J-RPGs are still mostly made for 11-15 year olds. And they have this really repetitive over-explaining dialog that never ends because they think children need that to understand what's happening.Thats probably cuz FFXVI was performed in English first by theatre actors (Japanese players get dubbed performances this time). The story was written first in Japanese of course but the actual script is penned for English performance & sensibilities.
BS
PS1 and PS2 generation games had tons of framerate issues. Ever tried to play Shadow of the Colossus on the original PS2?
The no patches era was revered because the games were't buggy and shipped content complete. Not because they didn't have framerate issues.
My SNES Final Fantasy III (VI) cart has major bugs one of which basically just breaks the game if you abuse it.BS

No I replied because you made a statement in relation to it that was 100% wrong.See, this is why you can't have an actual discussion in this forum, people just want to say their piece, being outraged and call out others...
Man, I mentioned the "release now, patch later" modern era and...you take it all the way back to the PS2 era ? What ?
Can you actually read friend ?
Let tell you something that may come as a shock to you :
The "no patch era" was not because the games didn't have bugs but because the internet, believe it or not , wasn't as diffused as it is now on most parts of the world.
Having - at best - a 384K adsl connection 20 years ago guaranteed that the consoles weren't "internet ready/capable" like they are today - emphasis on "like they are today" 'cause I know that you're gonna mention the fact that the Dreamcast and even the PS2 were in fact internet capable and could be brought online if you chose so using the proper hardware/modem (i.e : Windows CE on the DC, FF11 and Resident evil outbreak on the PS2).
Regarding again the "no patch" thing, something tells.me.that you didn't play Metroid Other M on the Wii : a game with a game-breaking bug that prohibited game progression - you know what you had to do ? Send a SD card with a savefile to Nintendo as to have them fix it.
...Not that all this matters since it doesn't have absolutely nothing to do with what I said earlier, I'm just replying to your "BS" as you eloquently put it, basically, you just replied something irrelevant just cause you wanted to say your piece most probably feeling hurt that someone criticized your favourite game franchise, amirite ? Also : you're being factually wrong about what you said.
Shadow of the colossus was, is and will always be one of my favs, guess what though ? The OG game's performance was indeed atrocious, I criticized it then and I can continue to do so now, the remake on the PS4 Pro was glorious due to enhanced fidelity/graphics and rocksteady 60fps, heck, even the PS3 remaster was obviously better than the PS2 version.
Again, it doesn't matter, i started the whole discussion regarding FF16's abysmal performance , you may not agree with it but at least, when replying try to stay on topic and try not to mix your decades 'cause the "unfinished games" shit didn't start 20 years ago.
Stop arguing for the sake of arguing
True, but the perception of it was due to them often being hard to trigger. Especially in relation to PC games at the time. Comparatively you had the high resolution and framerate argument for pc gaming like uou do now but consoles kind of lost that quality control/not buggy perception. My SNES Final Fantasy III (VI) cart has major bugs one of which basically just breaks the game if you abuse it.
No I replied because you made a statement in relation to it that was 100% wrong.
That Framerate heaven never existed on consoles except maybe 16 bit era but even there you have popular games that drop frames.
Unrelated but nice seeing that classic hero sprite!this was the most incredible game ive played in years. I cant believe they could combine the cinematics and gameplay to create this type of experience. Speechless.
Day 1 and will replay the demo. Unbelievable. Just unbelievable! Cant wait to play it in full. Man...
Huh? You found the combat in Hogwarts legacy better than the demo of FF16?Replaying Hogwarts Legacy and oh god how much better the combat system is compared to FFXVI, much more fluid and satisfying.

And the funny bit ? You just can't win with some people, you mention the performance thing in the Starfield thread and you're a "Sony pony lol !", you mention the same thing in a FF16 thread and suddenly you're labeled as an Xbot/fanboy, why ?
There's 2-3 threads about Starfield and the whole 30fps thing and whether it's all PR Bullshit with warriors fighting on either side while when it comes to FF16...people only talk and make jokes about cousin fucking/inbreeding, story bits and "OMG it's SooooOOo GOOoooD !!!11 " - why the double standards ? It's literally a Mugatu " I think i'm taking crazy pills" case, are people not using their friggin' eyes ? Can't they see that the game in performance mode feels like it's still in friggin' Alpha state ? "LOL it runs fine " a couple have mentioned, really ? My migraines due to the heavy fps drops and slide-show molasses-like movement in "quality" mode say otherwise, now, these people are either playing on quality mode on an LCD/LED display, or, they're not practicing what they preach (i.e : fanboyism) 'cause, this shit is friggin' unplayable on a non-LED TV, it's either vomit inducing "Massive fps drops and fluctuations mode" or, "vaseline smeared blurry mode judder-fest".VRR does fuck all also since it frequently drops below the 48fps mark.
This game really needs a 40fps mode aka "proper 30fps for OLED owners" stat, talking about SE games, Forspoken had it, why not this ? They're on different enginrs, i know, still...
Last time I checked... THE GAME WASNT OUT YETYeah I will wait, the performance is getting on my nerves. Good thing about FF games is you dont miss out on anything by waiting, if anything you get more for your money with additional content, and picking it up in a sale will save a few bob. After Star Wars releasing in a messy state i'm fed up of the buy now fix later trend in gaming these days, fuck supporting that shit.
Funny how other games that came out this year got a real slating because of performance, but this gets a free pass? Sounds like bollocks to me
This Japanese CM is very cool
This is some crackhead level hot take shit right here.Replaying Hogwarts Legacy and oh god how much better the combat system is compared to FFXVI, much more fluid and satisfying.
As if a PS5 is the price of a new car or something. I mean if she's that "mad".
THE DEMO ISLast time I checked... THE GAME WASNT OUT YET
Its stunning. Funnily enough I visited a museum yesterday to look at stunning artwork from ages past in awe, so that CM really nailed it for me. Some photos I took yesterday.Well I'm really looking forward to it, my boss gave me the day off from work for it haha. I'm going to go hard in on it which can be pretty rare for me as I tend to bounce around different games for variety.
Thanks for sharing that, it has an almost Biblical feel to the artwork, makes me think of so many Japanese games where we see the intro to a world where the Gods fought and the people suffered except it seems we get to live in that age, or least close to it.

Also:
Nice, that's how I played and personally had no issues. Also, gotta stop and smell the Carcass every now and then. Nice Avy.On my 2nd play through, this time in Graphics mode. So far, I think this is the way it's meant to be played. Everything looks beautiful and the combat feels perfect.
Nice coupled with the demo build being slightly older hopefully 60fps mode is a bit more stable.300MB day one patch to address performance issues.
