Thats the most unrealistic part of the game to me and this game features dragons and goblins/human friendships.

If I was Clive, I would've put a ring on it by month 1 of year 1 and then have her bang out like 3 kids by year 5. Just to make sure that smokeshow of a woman didnt change her mind and go with that dreamboat Dion who might be gay but would probably make her cum just looking at him.

Seriously, how do you resist this cutie pie for 5 long years. Are we sure Clive is not gay as well?

F0KlKzxWAAILHIE
There is a moment when they are inside a volcano or some shit and clive ask: are you ok? and she says "yes, i'm just hot".

Clive not saying "yes you are" was the biggest let down in the human history.

FFXVI has trash sidequests.
FFVIIR has trash sidequests.
FFXV has trash sidequests.
FFXIII is trash by itself. Combat is good even if runs itself.
FFXII has a lot of mindless things to do.
FFX has trash content like lets jump 100 lightnig bolts, it ll be fun.

In the last two decades only, every FF released had mindless shit and trash content, if this is not common knowledge for u i dont know what is and for someone that likes to complaing about dialogue like u do i think its really odd when u say that u like the cringiests FF ever made, dialogue in 13 is the worst of the entire franchise.
I'm not gonna sit here and defend everything about XIII though. I like the game, a lot, and I completely understand that the game has issues and I agree with the majority of complaints that people have. I like the battle system, the visuals, and the OST is one of my all-time favorites. I don't care if people trash it because they are right in many ways and there's no point in trying to defend argue against valid complaints that people have.

Some kind of official agreement in place whereby FFXVI fans need to trash every other game they can think of, especially other FF games, when defending XVI?
not trashing on other games, someone said "because FFXVI has trash content every other game now has it" "its not common knowlodge" i m just stating the obvious here, trash content is part of what FF is since X, saying that its "not commom knowlodge" is just being dishonest and i agree FFXVI has one of the worst sidequest in the entire franchise.

Found this regarding the ending

I'll copy and paste what I wrote in the spoiler thread. I didn't discover all of this, but this is basically the more popular theory going around the internet right now, and it makes the most sense.

Reasons why Clive took on Joshua's name and wrote "Final Fantasy"
  • It's not the first time Clive took on another person's name.
  • Harpocrates gives Clive a quill, asking him to put down the sword and take up the pen once he defeats Ultima. This scene is intentionally before the final battle.
  • "The only Fantasy here is yours. And we shall be it's Final witness!" Nobody except Clive and Ultima were there to witness that line. The name of the book is "Final Fantasy."
  • Clive is the narrator of the story. He narrates the beginning and the ending of the game. "And thus did our Journey end." The Platinum trophy is called "The Chronicler" with the subtext "And thus did our Journey end."
  • Clive is right handed. His left hand turned to stone. The curse seemingly stops there.
  • Metia doesn't fade because Clive "dies". It fades because Clive destroyed all magic in the world. This also explains why Jill can't sense him anymore and assumes he's dead.
  • There's a scene where Jill explains how when the dawn breaks, she knows he'll return to her. This scene is also intentionally before the final battle.
  • Part of Clive's character arc is learning how to save himself. This is directly called out multiple times by other characters, including Jill.
  • The End Credits song spells out Clive returning to Jill.
I was searching for something,
Moongazing,
Frightened of the storm
When you appeared to me.
I was so glad
It was you.

I have no doubt
This flame will never go out,
Just like nothing
Ever happened.

The song literally plays right after Jill's smiles at the sunset and fades to credits.

Symbolism has always been an important part of Final Fantasy's storytelling throughout it's history. All of this is deliberate. Clive Alive.

I'll take it. Convincing enough.

Agreed, that's a very elegant conclusion.

Not quite. It is more people who trash xvi and gloried the past game like a typical Asican. If they claim XVI is inferior to the past game, then the past game need to examiated to determine if it is superior.

Well to be fair if he wanted to score points with her, it definitely wasn't a good time to say that considering why they were there in the first place.

It was a joke, clive is really not the guy to say such things, i'm not really sure if being hot to point out something beauty is even a thing in their world:lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Played with japanese voices for full weeb cred— is the ending song in japanese in all languages? Was prett gud.

edit: another random, unrelated question: what's that big crystal structure you can see to the northwest of the Sanbreque coastline, in the northern territories? Drake's eye? But that was destroyed before the game. I was sure we were going to go there at some point, but it's never a thing.

Checking once more if anyone's got answers to these!

Personally, I really liked the game, and am enjoying NG+. But this is a game with a ton of big flaws that are very easy to point out. Still, the combat, story, visuals, and music are all really good, both by FF standards and general videogame standards, so on the whole I'm happy with it.

I am in same boat, I like the game; it is not perfect. However, it does grind on my gear if people claim this is the worst final fantasy ever and point out the fault that are in the past games as well.

Jill - I'm hot.
Clive - I'm thirsty.

Roll Credits.

But why use that to defend XVI? Learn to just laugh at the dumb shit in the game and appreciate the quality stuff. I've given lots of praise for various things in XVI. The Isles area I'm at right now, it's effing awesome. Visuals are stunning, atmosphere is on point. Many of the environments are absolutely stunning when it comes to visuals. The battle system is damn fun during boss fights (not the QTE stuff, that shit is lame). I've pointed out that some of the side quests give you good rewards.

The game is dozens upon dozens of hours of absolute slog and terrible looking NPCs with some of the worst dialogue I've seen in years. Voice acting is awful too for the most part. It's constantly shoving it in the players face and I just can't take it serious. You say you think this is the first FF game people have played. I'm over there thinking, "is this the FIRST game you've ever played???" 🤣

That stuff doesn't need to be defended, it's right there in the game. I could post clips of it all day cause it's essentially the entire game.

If you think the dialogue and voice acting is bad in this game, what would you consider to be better and why?

Sorry, but in my estimation these aspects are exceptionally good for a Japanese developed title.

Yep. When the game is 25% GOTY caliber while the rest is 5/10 mmo quality filler, cant we at least be allowed to criticize its shitty parts?

I actually think the first two hours of this game are the finest first 2 two hours in any game since MGS3 Snake Eater. Hell, i was kinda blown away by how it kept the intensity of the action filled prologue all the way up to the second time skip. But then over the last 20 hours or so, the game has grinded to a halt, and even skipping side quests is not going to fix the pacing issues since actual story quests are a slog. honestly, if they had left the mid quest and the desert town quests as side quests, i would not be bitching about any of this. side quests are typically trash in every game other than maybe the mass effect series where you get to punch whoever pisses you off. My issue is them inserting what were clearly side quests into the main campaign.

"For a Japanese developed title." So know you want to throw the entire Japanese gaming industry under the bus 🤣.

Kinda sarcasm but kind of not. Seriously, some of you make me scratch my head with how badly you want to defend this game and the stuff you're willing to say. What's wrong with recognizing that something is kinda shit but you still enjoy it?

I love the Welcome to Raccoon City movie but while watching in the theater, I was amazed that the thing was even released to the public. Not everything you like needs to be defended as something special. Sometimes a turd is a turd and it's alright if you still enjoy it!

I can get behind a lot of the criticisms of the game, except for voice acting. The voice work in this game is very well acted and directed. You're free to your opinion but do not act surprised if Ben Starr and/or Ralph Ineson get nominated for Best Performance, especially Ben. That dude gave 110%

Truth be told I think the last time I felt so gaslit by a game's quality was Cyberpunk 2077. The trailers to FFXVI looked incredible, and the Demo is some of the finest two hours of a Final Fantasy I ever experienced. But that Prologue is absolutely not indicative of the rest of the game's quality.

The Prologue is a consistent 10/10
The rest of the game jumps from 5/10 to 10/10, back down to 5/10, and back up to 10/10, and over and over again.

Yea, Cid is great. I haven't really commented because, you know...but yea, great stuff there all day.

I think Ben Starr is fine but I take issue with the script for him. It's fine at times but considering how long the game is, it just doesn't work for me the bulk of the time but I don't blame him at all, he's an actor, he has to work with what he's given.

So basically you have no answer.

And yes, country of origin matters because you need to factor in cultural norms and differences.

I'm not gonna play your stupid bait game so you can go "huuur duur, you like THAT but think XVI is bad 😅"

I asked a simple question to get a feel for what you personally find appealing and valuable. There was no "trick", just a simple request for something to indicate where your tastes lie!

That you jumped straight into hyper-defensive mode says more about you than me pal. :D

First 2 hours have barely any gameplay, cmon son:lollipop_grinning_sweat:

(edit ok since you are comparing with mgs3 i can understand, both have barely any gameplay in the first 2 hours)

Final Fantasy 7R is the only game where I feel full weeb. Jesse and Tifa, man, like I am in love with those characters. I know some don't like it but holy smokes, they are just so effing charming and HAWT.
I used to be against weebo culture until I saw Tifa in the remake. Then she showed up in the carriage dressed in a Geisha outfit, and I was like this is not good for my health.

Just finished the game. My heart is broken into a thousand Mothercrystal pieces. 😞

Alright. From that list I'd surmise you like campy dialogue, naturalism isn't a big deal for you.

Heavy rain tries to be "serious" but mainly skates by coming across like a dubbed version of an old Italian giallo flick.

Not trying to be judgemental about you or your tastes, but it seems to me the most enjoyment I can imagine being drawn from the dialogue and performances in the games you list as being somewhat ironic in nature? More "fun" than good?

thats the problem, i m defending nothing, u said that was NOT common knowlodge that FF games had trash tier content and i m just calling ur lie, cause for the last 2 decades every FF game had it.

FFXVI is a very flawed game, horrible sidequest and pacing issues, there less RPG mechanics then any other FF, but the game still a FF game, like XIII still being a FF game ( despite being considered by many to be the worst game in the franchise ).

A lot of people here are calling out FFXVI for its flaws and that's ok, now to say that this isn't an issue that has plagued every FF since X is just a lie.

Every page u link a video of a dialogue of FFXVI ( using other games to shit on 16 ), but cringe dialogue and third tier animation for sidequest aren't anything new in a FF game and guess what, FF17 ll 100% have this same issues and its OK, cause that shit sadly is in the franchise DNA.

I wouldn't go that far, IMO X was still in good graces as far as that goes. Yes, it had some dumb things like dodge a bajillion lightning bolts - but there were some cool things as well as variety. Chocobo races in Calm Lands (which I didn't like but hey), Blitzball (an entire mini game sport including leveling for each character within the game, I do rather like Blitzball), Monster Arena/Catching Monsters (this was pretty cool reason to revisit areas as well as optional bosses related to this, I like the idea of it), as well as side optional dungeon. I think X was the beginning of the slide for a few reasons (tunnel style map, forgoing the illusion of being even mildly non linear), but I don't think I'd say X side content is trash. That's just my opinion, but I feel like XVI would have benefited from having more things like this going on.

agree, FFX started the trash tier content imo, like dodge lightning, temples puzzles, locking endgame itens on blitzball, Chocobo in Calm is just infuriating, but its clearly has its highs like Monster Arena, Dark Aeons, secret Aeons, secret areas to acess once u get the airship, like i said, every FF has it low lows and high highs, my problem is that saying that this isn't common knowledge is just a lie.

Different people value different things. Did I rinse you for that "mostly a joke" list? No I didn't.

Because, believe it or not, I asked the question in good faith.

16 ranges from mediocre to mind-blowingly awesome. It's a very inconsistent game. Most people will take the highs and a vocal minority will go for the lows.

Most of the complains levied against this game can be levied at pretty much every other RPG. Especially FF game. Easy easy combat except for boss battles. Basic af side quests. Inconsistent visuals. Etc.

I find it hilarious that anyone is trying to compare this to the FF13 and 15, both which have far worse battle systems and quests.
13 is consistently medicore, and has absolutely no side content or any depth in the battles until grand pulse. It's just a giant linear tutorial for most of the game.
While 15 is even more inconsistent than 16. Having worse highs and even worse lows. Same with FF7R.

Anyway. Just did the titan boss fight and that may have been one of the best boss battles I've ever experienced. Absolutely amazing 🤩

Last comment from me to you; I haven't rinsed anyone for enjoying XVI. I've made it clear that I am genuinely happy that they are and I give *thumbs up* to plenty of posts where people talk about what they enjoyed in it. All I've done is try to have a few laughs at the games expense and call out disingenuous arguments from people that seemingly can't defend the game on its own merits and need to toss out personal insults and trash the entire franchise, etc.

What I like is irrelevant to what is in XVI. The issues in XVI are effing plain as day and literally span dozens of hours. We're talking like 50+ hours of shit in a 80+ hour game. These issues are 100% worth throwing in people's faces when they white knight some truly awful elements in a AAA PS5 exclusive and try throw all kinds of things under the bus.

I've explained myself multiple times in this thread and have also pointed out things I really enjoy in the game. Go read my post history if it's that important but this tit for tat is truly a waste of time for both of us.

I said GOOD DAY Sir!

Funny how you say FF XIII has no depth in battles then praise the Asura's Wrath boss fight. lol.
Thats because FFXIII doesn't have any depth OR any spectacle. While 16 has more of both.

13 should've added some asuras wrath boss fights because the idolons in that game were completely pointless.

What was relevant and specific was your claim about the dialog and voice acting being "worst in years".

A statement that was unsupportable in my view, so I gave you the opportunity to justify it, before I simply called bullshit.

You really want to pull snippets of interstitial dialogue as proof?
None of the clips you posted were particularly bad, especially in the context of a long game with such an extensive cast they were all fine.

Still calling bullshit, disingenuous bullshit, on your position.

But that's wrong. Because FFXIII has CGI cutscenes and XVI doesn't, so that makes XIII better.

tumblr_mg0xk7F3Od1rgysyfo1_500.gif

It has CG of l'Cie kicking Fal'cie in the peepee ya see?

I'm right at the end of the game. Game is good, but ffs the sidequests are soul destroying. I've just started skipping all the cutscenes for them entireley now

Uh, if you care about the main story definitely don't do that.
I still get the jist of what's going on. I usually 100% these types of games but this one I feel like its just dragging on and on. Its definately not the best FF, but its better than most of the modern shite that comes out thesedays though.

I feel you, 80% of sidequests are just shit, the bad sidequests design ll burn out everyone and by the end of the game thats when the good shit happens we dont care anymore.

Ok that's fine, not trying to tell you how to play. I'm just telling you you are absolutely going to miss out on important context for the ending if you skip cutscenes for two particular sidequests.
