Looks like pre-release hype is in full swing with events taking place all over the world - this one in LA.

I'll just pretend I'm Max here. :sneaky:

Oh ok. That's strange that Ramuh might be locked unless you bought and played Integrade/Intermission. He's a pretty basic and iconic summon.

I think it will actually be pretty difficult to get to see just the summons we get in this game.

Part 2 will have significantly more summons in it than Part 1, and even ones that weren't in the original FF7 (in addition to those which were), so I don't think it'll be too big a deal. Each character can only have 1 summon - so 3 per party, and given summons can only be used in certain fights, and double that down with the larger sized summons which need select locations as well, it actually becomes difficult to even use all the summons from Part 1 - I've seen streamers miss using some entirely or use them and not get to see their finishing attacks.

Plus, Intergrade was great, no reason not to play that first. I'd argue it was better than the original, albeit much shorter.

Yeah I played through Remake a few times when it came out. Absolutely loved it. But I never got around to Intergrade. But I might as well at this point.

I just finished the Yuffie episode and it was great apart from the dumb Dirge of Cerberus shit at the end.
The fight with Nero was fun and when you finish the Intermission you unlock super boss with Weiss also really fun.

My thoughts as well. They can't help themselves.

It's part of the Compilation universe for better or worse. I personally don't mind the incorporation of DoC elements in new material under the express rules that it's polished, well written (most important part) and well performed. What better opportunity to incorporate elements from those projects than the Remake Trilogy? Full budget and Sony support and a bunch of attentive customers, if I spent time toiling (whilst most probably intoxicated) on these characters that got shoved into a janky AA TPS PS2 game and I had a chance to maybe redeem some of these elements (in a meta sense)

Like, as an island, the Nero and Deepground stuff is bizarre. There was no indication nor mention of the organization even in tertiary NPC chatter throughout the game. If that was that and was left alone, I'd be wtfing. My big theory however, is that Square is gonna pull special DLC storylines for their two optional characters in OG VII. Yuffie got Intermission already, which establishes Deepground for the first time in Remake. It makes enough sense to think they'd then follow up on the Deepground stuff in a Vincent DLC episode alongside Rebirth, using (and functionally attempting a redemption arc in the same move) the established DoC characters.

replaying ff7 remake to catch up for rebirth. There's a lot of crap-to-mid stuff in this, including textures, corridor map, low-geometry garbage everywhere, horrible-looking NPCs, Sam's beard etc

But the soundtrack is GOAT. Incredible work. Like 80% of the game's budget seemingly went into crafting it.

I really don't think FF7 R is good game but I'm still hyped for this ..I realize a lot of people loved it but whenever I play I'm always at odds with so many aspects of the games design ...mostly the dialogue, voice acting, and level design ...my love for the original though means I can't think rationally about my hopes for changes in Rebirth ..which is foolish as the general design for the game will be similar to 7R.

I think I just don't gel anymore with modern Square ..tho Octopath is really well ..15, 7R and 16 though? The style of game is so different than old Square and I think objectively worse.

It looks alright but why ain't this game on unreal engine 5 .it doesn't look very impressive
What would be the point? Current gen games are barely using the UE5 feature set, unless they have the graphics of Fortnite.

Considering what seems to be a very big game with a lot of unique assets, large environments, cutting edge cinematography etc... whilst providing a lengthy experience, I think the graphics look top notch and as good as they could be factoring the 4-5 year dev cycle.

I believe they started working on Rebirth in late 2019/early 2020. UE5 still had/has a few quirks that could/will slow down development . I believe it would be feasible for the next title to use UE5 if they wanted. What they're doing now looks pretty good.

I know the environments can seem a little lack luster in comparison to the ultra photorealistic tech demos we've seen in UE5.

Where Rebirth makes up the difference is in the rendering budget allocated to the characters of the game which greatly enhances the story telling element imo. That combat tho 😍

Thanks. I prefer lengthy jrpgs like Xenoblade Chronicles and Persona, so sue me. 20 hours isn't going to be much of an epic adventure, and I'm sure it's going to feel rushed. Certainly not worth my $60.
More like $80 after taxes here in US and yep, I am in the same boat.

Plus Infinite Wealth just came out and seems great and P3 will be releasing in a week.

Official soundtrack page, no sample tracks or release date, but I've heard it early April from other sites. NA/EU links at the bottom of the page but doesn't seem to be on their yet.

7 CDs and 7CDs and bonus.

I'm ready for another 100+ tracks of this goodness.

Replaying remake to prepare myself, still can't believe how good the visuals are. There's the dodgy texture here and there, but the overall visual quality and aesthetics put most recent releases to shame.

I actually wanted do this as well but with both Granblue Relink and Persona 3 Reload coming out in Feb 1&2, there no way I can do that.

I would be lucky I can even finish at least one of them before Rebirth gets released.

I would say normal NPC quality in FFVIIRemake is really bad.....I hope they do better job in Rebirth

And I'd say XVI average NPC (not main NPC) is even worse.

I do wonder if some of the people complaining about the visuals are using a PS4? It definitely is improved on PS5, textures too, the launch state from what I see from streamers was pretty poor, but when I played it on PS5 at a smooth 60fps the entire game, was perfect for me. Runs like a generation better than XVI does.

They actually made an open world game that looks like this using the unreal engine. I wonder how it will run but still I'm impressed. Can't wait

Man, I remember them looking a lot worse than that, I guess not. Still, they're as freaking stiff as a board in dialogs and I dunno if maybe there's just a few bad ones that stuck out for me, but those look ok, still something is weird about them.

Almost in all JRPG the NPC is lower quality than main characters but in FFVII Remake are especially badly made, it like something out of Bethesda games.

Yeah, in my head they were looking more like that, but then a tier below. But they look well modeled, it's just they're animated poorly. The more realistic they make them, the more you expect from the animations. I think FFVII's more cartoony look just sits better with me, and the game as a whole.

JRPGs have a huge cast of characters, especially FF7 with 9 main characters and then all the villains, sub characters, NPCs, bosses, summons, enemy designs and other creatures. When you think about it it's a crazy amount of models compared to a lot of games. When you factor it all in and consider its 3rd party and not bankrolled completely by a platform holder I would never except Horizon level models in this, even though it would be nice. That said I agree they can do a better job than they did in part 1, perhaps around FF16 level for the NPCs.

I don't think so….

Yup 16 is much much better. My expectation for Rebirth is any NPCs you talk to as part of the main story or sidequests will be improved and they'll reuse these awful models for just the ones standing around that you don't interact with except for hearing dialog.

The OG FFVII is one of my favorite games of all time...and I just finished Crisis Core Reunion for the first time. This was easily the worst written and most cringe game I have ever played in my entire life. Why were people praising this game so much? I'm even trying to be modest here.....

Please tell me these cancerous characters like Genesis and Angeal arent going to infect Rebirth.

Even Zack was insufferable with his over the top shohen personality. It's like he was written by a 5 year old. I am so disappointed....like they fucked up the Nibelheim scene by injecting Japanese backstreet boy Genesis in there for no reason. Everything about the story reeks of cringe anime and forced fan service.

I feel more skeptical about Rebirth now....
