Genshin Impact |OT| 5.0 (Natlan) - Everything Changed When the Fire Nation Arrived

I'm not a super fan or anything, but I hope he gets a cool kit.

Also they should probably update his character model. They've come a long way since 1.0, and his model is one of the worst in the game for a non-standard NPCs. Compared to modern characters he looks like he got his outfit at Spirit Halloween. (maybe only US residents will get this reference?)
The top of the hood of the mascot is a duck. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

My dumbass here thinking oooh this weapon banner is a win/win for me but ended up loosing to Amos' Bow again.
Sad Oh No GIF by BrownSugarApp

Jesus fucking Christ.
Wait was there like no soft pity even or it just no guarantee, as in always 50/50?
No pity whatsoever on the weapon banner as far as getting the banner weapon. It still had the soft/hard pity to get any 5* (I think) but nothing to help you get the actual banner weapon.

There's a dude that spent $2000 trying to get staff of homa. The skyward staff troll he got at 8:06 was priceless.

Edit: it may have only been 3 claymores for me (went through my old screenshots so based on that). It was also the 2nd banner where the claymore was a banner weapon so I essentially lost 3 37.5% chances in a row)

Finally, we're getting artifact loadouts. Unsure if he means 2 saved sets per character or what.

*edit*

Bit more clarity, still confusing though.

Looks like Skirk gets a unique gacha wish animation too. Not gonna post it for those that wanna see it first hand.

Oh shit just did 2 single wishes and got Navia's axe. That's 9 wishes after losing to Amos' Bow.
Wtf it's the same thing that happened last time, lost to Amos' Bow then got the Mavuika's weapon in 12 more wishes.

Alright Hoyo if I loose to Amos' again I won't complain about it... Or is it because I complained that it worked out🤔

I always wanted Navias weapon too, damn. How much does it help her? I currently have her on WGS as it's my only 5* claymore

It's not significantly better. But it's damn sexy, and I was sick of having to wait for Serpent Spine's buff to ramp up, it gets really annoying having to wait those 20 seconds in abyss and combat events every time you retry.

Well, I went all-in on trying to unfuck my artifacts for my whole account. I had some really bad sets on a lot of characters, and most were only level 1 or level 8. This caused me to re-evaluate my teams as a whole, and now my entire account is (temporarily) pretty fucked up. I spent a few hours tonight rebuilding my teams and then making sure everyone at least had the right artifact sets equipped, even if the pieces suck as far as main stat/whatever. It's a bit of an extra self-imposed pain for me, because I don't use the same character on any 2 teams. I don't have to do it, but it's just a personal limitation I set because I spent so much time and resources rolling and building so many characters, I'd hate to use the same 10 over and over again exclusively.

With the advent of Skirk coming up next patch, I finally concede my attempt to make DPS Shenhe work, since she's going to be a great support for Skirk, but I'm not exactly happy about it. It's really frustrating how HoYo goes out of their way to make sure certain characters don't work in certain team setups, and then you see completely useless characters that you can't even fit in when you want to, like Xinyan, Amber, Ningguang, etc.

Anyways, I have 8 teams put together now, none of which really matter since I will immediately go back to Mavuika's team when anything more challenging than overworld is involved. I'm hoping Skirk's team of Skirk/Shenhe/Yelan/Escoffier will be another overpowered team, so I can just bank on those two for Abyss outside of disadvantage bosses and elemental immunity fuckery.

The worst team I created that performs the best is Chlorinde/Nahida/Sara/Yaoyao, followed by Wriothesley/Lynette/Ganyu/Qiqi. Yea, that's right. That's the kind of scuffed teams I'm playing the game with. The same game that you guys are playing.

I'm trying to fit Varesa into some sort of team, but it's tough because her best teams all have characters I use elsewhere, so I'm giving a shot with Varesa/Fischl/Xiangling/Chevreuse, but I dunno, feels really weak to me. I have never been able to make an Overcharge team work well. At least with Varesa as the main DPS, it doesn't matter if you hit enemies all over the place.

Damn, the kind of thing reviewing/cleaning up artifacts does to a man.

So I saved enough rolls to guarantee Raiden Shogun, but I don't have enough for her sig weapon as well, and I was wondering if any of these 2 options are viable on her.

The first one is this BP weapon I've gotten recently.

Ye2IbaX.png

The other option is this 5* polearm I've literally just gotten from the standard banner.

VrOAgdg.png

My plan is to run her as a sub-DPS, and to replace my C0 Fischl in the main team I'm running with Mavuika, Furina and Noelle.

I also have C2 Charlotte, which I'm slowly building up to replace my C0 Noelle as she's way better at healing than her. So once I get Raiden the team will be her, Charlotte, Furina and Mavuika. Any advice is appreciated.

There's a F2P polearm you can get by doing the fishing objectives in Inazuma called The Catch, it's still the best F2P option for her, even over the 5* Jade spear. Also, if you've rolled a weapon banner and ended up with a Wavebreaker's Fin, that's another decent 4* option.

Welp, I just checked the link you gave me and that fishing quest looks pretty involved and time consuming, so I guess I better start it sooner rather than later. :lollipop_pensive:

Oh and I haven't rolled on any of the weapon banners so far, so basically the only decent polearms I have are the 2 ones I've mentioned, the rest are crafted ones (Dragonspine Spear) and I think I have a couple of 4* ones from random drops in character banners as well, but they're all mid and not worth mentioning.

All that being said, ty for the advice. Appreciate it!

Decided to complete both Escoffier's quest for the extra materials, as well as the interlude quest in Mondstadt to unlock the new weekly boss. Escoffier's quest was okay, but nothing too special. I kind of hate the Mondstadt one, featuring an annoying plot with frustrating writing, and a feeling of them rushing the story to resolve a lot of loose threads. It doesn't help that the plot revolves entirely around several limited time events that most players probably haven't experienced.

They also showed a stylized picture of Varka and it doesn't fit the image in my head at all. Guess that was to be expected though.

Well, I went all-in on trying to unfuck my artifacts for my whole account.
That's gonna be a big undertaking. Your account must be very unique due to your self-imposed limitations. I assume it'll take a long time before your artifact situation improves. Keep updating in this thread please. I'm interested in any progress.

The Fjords polearm would be good in hyperbloom teams, but that's not what you're running right now. Jade spear is a fine option but more suited to on-field DPSing. Like Pejo Pejo mentioned, the Catch is the best allround F2P weapon for her and it can be had for free by fishing (a lot). If you don't want to do that, the event polearm (Tamayuratei no Ohanashi) from two updates ago is a good alternative if you have it.

Thanks for the help! I missed out on some of the events from Jan - Feb, so I don't have Tamayuratei no Ohanashi, unfortunately. :lollipop_pensive: I'll go with The Catch since both of you said it's the best F2P option for Raiden when playing her as a sub-DPS in my current team.

Spent almost 3h yesterday and caught 1/3 of the fishes needed for The Catch and its refinements. Should take me about a week and a bit to get the rest.

Also, the process is tedious enough so I'm not gonna bother with trying to join rando worlds to farm more fishing spots. I'm just going to wait for the pools to refresh in my world, and that will be that.

Do you have Thoma? His passive world trait gives you a 20% chance to catch 2x fish in Inazuma. I don't think you have to level him, and apparently as I'm reading, you don't even need to have him in the party, just in your account.

But yea, it's kinda a pain. You missed the Inazuma event way back in the day where the key reward was a fishing rod that makes it a lot faster, but there's still the Inazuma region fishing rod at the vendor. Not sure if it'd be faster to fish for the rod or just skip it and go straight for the weapon, but if you want to max refine it (and you should, at least eventually), there's a lot of fishing in your future.

I actually double checked towards the end of my fishing session yesterday because it was getting a bit ridiculous, and saw that this dude has the fishing talent you mentioned and unfortunately I don't have him. To be fair though, it would have taken me 2h instead of almost 3h if I didn't have to find and mark the fishing spots, and also get some additional mats to craft more bait. Now the next time the fishing pools refresh it should take me considerably less time to farm them.

I missed a lot, even the more recent events back in Jan and Feb, partly due to my fault because I didn't want to spoil myself with getting to the new zones ahead of time (I was still in Liyue), but now I'm just using the early access thingy and jumping straight to the events even if don't have all the main quests done to access them.

Anyways, I did get the rod upgrade from the Inazuma vendor halfway through the fishing session of yesterday, and it improved things a little bit. The only annoying issue is that I have to be careful to not scare the fish away. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Edit: About the refinements, yeah, I plan to get all of them, so I miscalculated the time there a bit (i.e. It should take me 2 weeks instead of 1 week). Anyways, I'll have it to R5 just in time for Raiden's banner though, so there's that at least. I'll probably become a pro fisherman by the time I'm done with it, lol.

Oh, and keep in mind that I'm way behind anyone who's a frequent poster in this OT since I originally played Genshin back when it released on PC, and got to like AR 20 before dropping it. Then I played 2-3 more AR levels on PS5 back in early 2021, and that was it until December of last year when I decided to give it another try, and this time I enjoyed it enough to not drop it.

They've GOT to be planning a rerun of at least the lore relevant events someday, or maybe a shop for the one-time event rewards. I have no idea why they haven't done it yet, both HSR and ZZZ get past events in the "permanent" tab if they're story related and you just miss the limited time rewards for those. Genshin needs to do the same thing, honestly.

Yea that rod should help you quite a bit, at least from the time to catch each fish from the time you hook it. I emptied out every available region's shops, so I've done a lot of fishing myself. The worst part is that it's not exactly something you can AFK. I always make sure to mute the game before I start and put some music on in the background, or Paimon will drive you insane.

Yea no worries. You're (maybe unknowingly) enjoying a lot of QoL updates that happened since that time, so it won't be so bad. I actually am pretty far behind in a lot of world quests myself. I have only done maybe 1/3 of the Fontaine content and maybe half of Natlan. I always keep up on the Archon/character quests, but the world quests are something that I like to enjoy slowly, since they're the best content in the game, IMO. Bad part is, they're usually quite long, and I barely have time to keep up on my dailies lately, so they just sit there in the quest log for now.

I think there was an item in the Fontaine fish shop that made it easier to catch fish you've caught a lot of too.
Yea, the Fishing Line Stabilizer helped me a lot and works in every region. At first it does nothing but as you catch more of a type of fish it makes it faster to catch that fish type.

Speaking of fishing, they never ended up giving us a fishing weapon for Natlan. Seen some people suggest that they're reducing F2P options to force players to pull signature weapons instead, but Natlan has been pretty good overall with its craftable and event weapons so that seems unlikely to me.

I played some more today and finished Escoffier's story quest a few hours ago, and I agree with Icymanipulator Icymanipulator about her having like 3 roles into 1. Her overall design also won me over, so I decided to pull for her.

To my surprise the usual bad rng that I have in all hoyo games avoided me this time around, so this officially makes Escoffier the first 50/50 I won in this game (yay for that!). I'm also on track to have enough pulls to guarantee Raiden when her banner drops later this month so overall I'm very pleased with how rolling this banner went.

Here's a quick look at the new Abyss/endgame mode coming next patch. At the very least, doesn't look to be time intensive like Imaginarium.

Damn, HoYo hitting the emergency button with banners for the next patch:

Holy shit, that's a lot of meta/favorites in one patch. Maximum FOMO.

Do any of you guys know if you can quit after getting a missing star in abyss, or if you have to finish the whole run?

I missed 1 star in floor 11 this time because I forgot to bring a way to deal with that Natlan robot with the phlogiston pillars. I'm debating how much effort it would be to do it again, for 100 primos.

So like if I beat floor 11-2 with full stars, can I just exit and get the rewards, or do I have to do floor 11-3 again too?

More crazy Teapot mains being ridiculous. The one where they glitched a bunch of benches into the sky so the shadows would create art of Sigewinne is like 400 IQ stuff.

Pretty sure it awards the stars immediately after the chamber is completed, so you wouldn't have to do the entire floor.
I worded it wrong, but it ended up working that way anyways. The robot thing I lost a star on was on 12-2, not 11-2, and I did 12-1 and 12-2 again, and quit right after and got the missing rewards, so it works as you said.

Weird that it also doubles as an artifact domain and I sure hope those 100 mora reward for the hardest difficulties are just a placeholder.
I wonder how often this will reset, one month seems long for this.

There was no fishin in Natlan 5.0 so I think they forgot to add fishing all together in that region.

They're playing a different game than I am...

For the new weekly, does anyone know how to reliably stop the insta-kill attacks? I'm applying frozen but they still do their thing... Need to dust off barb for the extra revive...

Maybe some of that stuff is placeholder, but I don't mind a somewhat passive artifact gain either. Better than my thousandth Wandering Troupe piece.

Yea I saw this one come later. I'd rather this one be true honestly since I want more Citlali constellations.

I haven't done it yet, but apparently the key is quickly applying Frozen like Escoffier's material boss.

Leaks are saying Mare Jivari is going to be a separate map like Chasm/Enka. I think those are some of the best maps in the game, so I'm hyped. I realllly hope they have some deadly mechanics there.

Also Skirk official drip marketing:

Rode one of the giant sneks in Natlan into the ground on my side account, and it clipped me into the wall. Was able to put a portable waypoint in there above the abyss. No hidden map under that part though...

So apparently after Skirk in 6.0 we're going to get some meta crazy character. I hope the name is a placeholder/CN localized name and Nod-Krai isn't a 3rd Liyue. Regardless, the suggestion is to not overspend on Skirk. I'm still rolling her and likely her weapon regardless, but food for thought.:

Bros....

I finally have been getting decent matching artifact sets for my characters after recently upending my account, only to just hit the Mora wall...

I had just shy of a billion Mora before starting this process, now I'm down to 40k....

Never in my whole planning of this process expect to run out of Mora. God dammit why do they make this so painful.

A billion Mora??? Are you exaggerating there?

I'm down to 100k after leveling Escoffier but I rarely have more than 3 million Mora saved. There is always stuff to spend it on, character levels, talent levels, weapons, and artifacts...I've never been able to save much.

I thought after reaching AR60 things would be different but nothing's changed, the Mora bottleneck is remains. And man I hate using resin on mora leylines it feels like such a waste.

Gonna be hard to convince people not to pull/splurge on a highly anticipated character for the sake of some random nobody.

Time to hit the artifact routes and destroy all those greys and greens for mora. Heck, there used to be a time where I fed the dog in Inazuma 10 times a day for mora... Fortunately we're getting a ley line overflow event this update, so you'll have an opportunity to get some cash that way.

I leveled up countless artifacts to +16 or +20 over the past week, never took a look at how much Mora I was using/had available because I thought I was stacked. I did mess up on the estimation, I was at 100 million mora, not a billion. Quite a big discrepancy, but still I didn't expect to be in the poor house after a week of casual artifact leveling and farming.

Why the fuck with so many progress gates already built in, does an artifact take 270,000 Mora to level from 1-20?

Gonna be hard to convince people not to pull/splurge on a highly anticipated character for the sake of some random nobody.
Some guy in the comments of that post said that Weixing refers to the fact that the characters are going to be all relevant to the main story, and it's not referencing a specific character. So in other words, every character in 6.0 onwards will be immediately relevant in the story in a big way. No more Emilies and Escoffiers and Chioris etc. Don't know why they feel that will drive user pull habits, but whatever. Leakers have been wrong about Xbalanque, Capitano, Ping, etc, so I'm not putting much stock into it.

I checked, and I have 478 resin moons sitting there for a rainy day, but for me it's just a pain in the ass that I have to take time away from whatever I was working on to go fuck around at leylines for an hour just to be able to continue my artifact stuff. The Mora gate is there out of spite and annoyance, it feels like.
