First Look at The Witcher 4 Tech Demo

They literally lied then.

Lighting, facial expression, camera angle, hood. It looks identical to me.

Looks like something a 13 year old would make in a character creator with white hair and racoon eyes.

Lol pigs running towards the apples that fell of the basket "dynamically" are peter molyneux level of scripted gameplay bullshit

I have no doubts it's gonna be amazing, but will it look like this on base consoles at 60fps? Isn't UE5 known for framerate issues and what not? We'll see.

The wait is gonna be hell though.
No
Reminder... ac shadows looks like that without shitty UE5. no lod changes visible here at all.
Voxel trees sound like a waste of resources. video looks low res (but it's not even ps5 pro footage)

It's last chance for ue5 to impress me. It needs to look AT LEAST better than ac shadows on pro

Come on it looks better than AC shadows.

Man, I can't believe they fixed the face. We, gaf, should take full credit for that. Our inquisitorious on youtube simply followed our lead. The world is healing.

And they say feedback is not important...

And there are even some gaffers saying was nothing wrong with her face.

Bro, I want to believe but I'm definitely keeping my expectations in check. A game looking like this, with so many characters at one point too and at 60fps on base consoles? Nah.

But if they do achieve it, let's fucking go.

We've just been hit over the head for the entire generation with phoned in cross gen lazy dev bullshit.

GTA6 already let us know what PS5 is capable of. I'm pushing my chips all-in on believe.

Between this, GTA6, and Intergalactic, the heavy hitters are finally coming out to close the PS5 gen. Incredibly backloaded gen but it feels good to be in this phase of it

No

Come on it looks better than AC shadows.
well the tech demo trailer does but it's low res at that.
Until the game comes out it's hard to claim that. Of course the preview looks better but it's not running on my ps5 pro.
I will be there to compare when it comes out!

We know how UE5 games look on ps5 and even on pro. It might be a blurry low res mess

Look at the tech details part after the demo presentation (in the gameawards live stream), the dude explains the nanite tree stuff and you can see that it looks alot better than AC Shadows, especially close up.

I don't see Naughty Dog catching up to Unreal 5 this gen. Unreal 5 is a beast, despite everyone trashing it for some reason. That said, nothing about the Witcher is particularly impressive to me personally. I already have seen how good the engine looks in Avowed and Hellblade 2. Witcher looks like environments have the same type of hyper detailed photogrammetry stuff. Characters don't look great, and the color saturation is ridiculously overblown. Will look good, but best ever? No chance. I still think Ciri looks weird personally. Like a half cartoon. It's a weird hybrid art style. Maybe it'll grown on me.

You don't know Naughty Dog, do you?....

If.they improve combat and keep the good secondary missions and dialogs this game Will be epic.

Also hope it gets darker fantasy ambient than W3.

No, the PC version will have more features to enhance everything, like I doubt it will be a native 4k at 60 FPS on console even with the PS5 pro plus on PC you can use mods to further improve things.

I have a 4080, I haven't seen a game in years that was really that big of a difference. It's more like making us feel better because of diminishing returns. Crysis 1(maybe 2) were the last PC games I played where I felt like it was a massive leap. Now its just 300% zoom lenses on digital foundry to explain what we're supposed to be seeing.

I can't wait for this game. But I don't really give a fuck about footage this far out. Means nothing to me until the game is much, much closer.

Colour me very surprised

I was convinced the opening cinematic must be running on a high-end pc, then noticed the guy holding a PS5 controller and just thought it must be connected to a pc, then they said running on a standard PS5.....at 60.....No way.

The game looks gorgeous and highly detailed.

Epic have made HUGE optimisation and performance strides since the Matrix demo.

A new whitcher game which I will buy. But it strange without Gerald. Am I the only one that like the graphics, colors, weather effects of the witcher 3 than what is shown of the whitcher 4?

Since when is Unreal 5 even the standard when we got stuff like Decima engine that actually runs well everywhere unlike Unreal 5?
From Killzone Shadowfall (that gave us the first "this is next gen" feeling for the PS4 back then) to Forbidden West and Death Stranding 2...

And Naughty Dog? Their last 3 game releases were Uncharted 4, Lost Legacy and The Last Of Us 2. I feel like they haven't failed a single game release since they are with Playstation almost 0 years ago...i feel like they deserve at least the benefit of the doubt lol.

Where the hell are the games is the bigger question? I thought the ps3 was lackluster on the first part of the generation, ps5 is somehow worse.

Decima we saw a cross gen game that looked great, and DS2 looks good but still similar to the PS4 one in a lot of ways. Naughty Dog, I saw the trailer for Intergalactic and I don't think any of the facial animation looks on par with what I've seen with Unreal 5. Looks similar to their PS4 stuff. The girl with the eye patch talking in that trailer looks PS4 tier. I mean, that's fine. Most studios still haven't caught up to their PS4 output this gen. But I haven't seen anything yet that changes my mind at all. It all looks good but I think Unreal 5 is in the lead right now, and the lead will just keep growing.

Looks freaking fantastic. Though given CDPR's track record, a tech demo on standard PS5 would mean I would expect that fidelity and performance in the final game only on a Pro (or a PS6). But given it's all in unreal, I don't expect massive downgrades.

CD Projekt Red has confirmed to VGC that what was shown at the State of Unreal presentation today was a tech demo set in The Witcher 4 world, "but not The Witcher 4 itself".

I mean, what does it mean tbh, that this portion they showed us is not actually in the game and was created to show us the engine? Then what was about this city tease at the end that was supposed to excite us?

It basically means it was created using assets from Witcher 4 to showcase the tech of the game. So they just created something to showcase the game, UE5, nanite foliage...etc but the place we saw isn't in the game itself

It's a "vertical slice". AKA enjoy what's being shown but maybe best not to expect the same level of quality in the final game.

But it will be like that cause they used assets from the game??

It should look considerably better cause this is running on base PS5 with a 60fps target. The assets and effects will / should be much higher quality for whenever the game releases for modern hardware of that time.

Its impressive even just on base Ps5. I always believe that base Ps5 is a good and capable system. Its just that some developers are lazy to harness is capability.
