Aaron Greenberg: Temper your expectations

Yeah agreed last year was one of their best.

This year should be good. Gears, Fable and new Forza are bankers?

I predict a no show for Perfect Dark
What we need is actual gameplay for games that have been cooking for far too long. Specifically Fable.

A new Killer Instinct or Banjo (Toys for bob) would be outstanding but I'm not expecting anything.

Semantics. The consensuses was Xbox had a great show last year. That's what he's referring to.
Great and burning down the house, isn't semantics and is very different.

We haven't had a "burning down the house" Showcase since Sony 2016, that was the last time either of the 3 really blew us away.

Last year was fine, so was the year before, but MS has in the past had shows that burnt down the house for sure way back in the past.

First truth I read from Greenberg: they actually burned down the house and the brand last year, turning it into a sort of new Sega. I'm amazed this guy still has his job.

Fable, what's it been 7 years?

The leaks looks decent enough, time to blow my tiny brain.

Personally I expect Fable in January direct. They've already shown it twice. Next time they will shoot at Playground on location and give the release date like they did with IJ.

You're free to have your opinions bud.

MCC on ps5 and switch 2 is gonna be a trip

I can't imagine this will be the case before the 25th anniversary.

I'm expecting we'll see the following games at the showcase:

Persona 4 Remake (coming to GamePass)
Splinter Cell Remake
Gears of War Reloaded
Outer Worlds 2
FF7 Remake (Coming to GamePass)
Gears E-Day

Maybe small clips of Fable, Perfect Dark.

Has there ever been a marketing or PR guy this incompetent in gaming?

Even if you have shit, it's your job to make it look like ice cream.
Phil, Matt and Aaron are the epitome of assholes who have failed upwards.

A competent company would have fired these clowns long ago.

The fact that they dedicated a whole time-slot to Outer Worlds 2 was enough to tell you not to expect anything.
Yeah I know what you are saying but what else would get it?

COD doesn't need it, Fable is next year. State of decay seems to be miles off.

OW2 does seem like a significant step up from the first one.

Fable. I'm expecting a significant chunk of gameplay. Surely?

not even Bloodborne 2 would make SGF better than Sony SoP, that show was 2 hours slop.
I'm trying to power through the show as I type this and it's honestly remarkable how much gacha and soulslike slop is in SGF.

No RE trailer is worth this amount of bullshit. Pacing matters for shows too.

I can't believe that guy is still one of the og from the first gen that still works for MS.... While the company lost so much talent....this guy still has a job ....

Realistic expectations:

- Japanese block (P4R, FFVIIR, FF16, wild card if they announce Trails franchise on Xbox)
- First party trailers and gameplay for some of them (Fable, Gears E-Day, Clockwork Revolution, Gears Reloaded, Double Fine's next, Toys for Bob's Xbox partnership game)
- Third party block with some games announced for GamePass

Pie in the Sky aka I want it:

- Backwards compatibility returns with new crop of added or enhanced games

The incompetent Greenberg is a joke, but I get the feeling it's the typical double-entendre warning. I think they have a good show and just want to prevent people from getting their hopes up for impossible things and then being disappointed even with a very good showcase.

The fact that Phil Spencer (missing in action for months) and Nadella himself are raising the hype means there will be interesting things and news... Good or bad for whom? I don't know anymore 😅

I wanna see:

- Some kind of fallout project even if it's UE5 remake of fallout 3. Retarded to have such a popular show coming back this year and no game besides a mid MMO
- MCC on Switch 2
- State of Decay 3. Underrated series IMO.
- More Ninja Gaiden 4

Having a dedicated hour of Outer Worlds 2 is not encouraging. First game stinks.

It's odd, Aaron is saying temper expectations, Phil is saying there's gonna be surprises.

I fucking hope so! Never in my worthless life I would have thought I would root for a xbox showcase, so they better bring in the heat, especially after two shitshows happening back 2 back these last days.

There is expectations because they seem to deliver the best showcases the last couple of years.

Disagree. Its just that the the competition isn't doing great presentations either(if you disconsider Nintendo though). Its just doing less worse imo.
And this not to say there weren't great ones on Xbox though, I can give them that. I don't remember the last time I ever found State of Play "good", perhaps the one where they revealed Ronin and Stellar Blade but thats about it.

Sooooo.. they're not gonna show Gears or Perfect Dark again are they?
I really hope we see Perfect Dark. I think that's the most promising game they have in development.

I'd put money on E-Day being there. Oct/Nov launch date if we're lucky.

I feel like we're due for a new Forza Horizon. It's been years since FH5 and Forza Motorsport was a colossal dud.
