Charlie Kirk assassinated at Utah campus event

Just to make sure I have this:
The evil FCC stepped in at the instructions of the president personally, and said to ban Jimmy or else, no other possible way the banning could have happened, no other mechanism.

And ABC here just tells the FCC to go fuck themselves and the FCC throws their hands up like aw shucks they got us

Because both things can't, and wouldn't, be correct. Evil government overstepping agencies trying to destroy the bill of rights don't just let things happen.

So can we admit that the first scenario for the banning likely wasn't correct? And it was exactly what the broadcaster company said right at the start, and for good reason.
Are you expecting people to admit they were wrong as to why Jimmy was suspended? Because those people will never admit it. To them, both conflicting truths are in fact true.

Businesses yes, but they have a board of directors, they have talent acquisition people etc and aren't reliant on personallity.
No, organisations too, like Greenpeace or the Red Cross. If Turning point has an enough robust structure and can get help from talented people then it can survive and thrive even with Kirk's passing. Considering how galvanizing the experience has been, I can't see them having any problem with acquiring talent or funds. The coming years will determine whether it fizzles out or becomes an institution though.

no. a politician usually tries to lie in a way that makes most people believe them. he targets idiots, which is also what scammers do.
the "Nigerian prince" kinda scams seem absolutely hilarious to normal people, and that's exactly the goal. the scammers want the absolute numbnuts that fall for the dumbest shit.
scams that look like obvious scams to normal people are designed to filter out normal people, leaving only the dumbest of the dumb behind.

hence shit like this:

just imagine the IQ of people who fall for this... but he is deliberately catering to that crowd for his own gain. Trump coin, the trump phone... he's selling a low quality brand to idiots.

I don't think your post makes any sense. People believe what they are inclined to believe, doesn't make them idiots, they just view things differently.

Obama promised when he passed Obama Care that "if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor", people believe that. He lied. Were they dumb?

Bernie 2015 said "The millionaires and the billionaires", after he became a millionaire himself during that time he's started to leave out the millionaires part altogether. And people still believe (even here) that he's honest.

Pleased that Kimmel is coming back. It seems kind of wild that the US of all countries has an issue with free speech, but then I suppose we all go a little crazy sometimes.
Nobody has an issue with free speech. That is just trying to score political points. There was issue with the misinformation he said about the shooter being maga. It wasn't that he said something it was that he blatantly lied.

Freedom of speech not freedom from consequence. That is what the left said when they were canceling people.

😭 remember when the Clinton administration gave us free trade, welfare reform, "don't ask don't tell", and a balanced budget? The fuck happened to this party?

Also the biggest scandal of the decade was Clinton lying about getting a blowjob from his intern. Seems so quaint by today's standards.
America approaches sex very differently than violence. No one would've cared if Clinton shot a guy in the Oval Office. As a society we are accepting of shooting loads, not blowing loads.....

... I'll see myself out.

I was a senior in high school at the time and I specifically remember everyone not giving a fuck and finding it hilarious 🤣
Yeah it was hilarious, everyone had their own Clinton impressions. The late night shows got so much material from that.

Nowadays this kind of story would barely survive a 24 hour news cycle.

so like 250x Jimmy Kimmel's audience on an average night?

I have no idea who the heads of Greenpeace or Red Cross are. They don't rely on charismatic leaders but I see where you're coming from. I don't know anything about Erika other than she was in pageants and involved in some capacity with Romanian childrens charity

It has to be way more than that. Charlie Kirk's official channel has 7.5 million views and had about 500k live viewers during the stream...but the Live Now on Fox channel's stream had even more live viewers. They took their stream down for whatever reason so I don't know how many total views it had.

Add to that, virtually every news channel was streaming it - plus every single right leaning political pundit was streaming it on their official youtube and/or rumble channels. Also many people watch streams on twitter/X now, which has only been a thing for about a year now.

It's gotta be way, way more than 20 million....like exponentially more. Turning Point is saying they believe 100 million.

Why? I don't live in the US. Our President is married to a woman 30 older that groomed him, the ex president was caught on a scooter (not even a motorcycle) going to visit his mistress, the one 30 years before had a child out of wedlock. Compared to what you guys have we are living a dream.

Seems like a failure. ABC got shot at, Disney stocks drops, nobody cares about "We Are Jimmy Kimmel" movement, the left cancels D+.

What a load of hogwash.

No one made Jimmy a 'victim', both left and right were more talking about FCC's perceived over-reach and ABC's curtailing actions.

Fair enough, there's probably 2, 3 articles like that. I disagree with that article for the most part.

Most of the internet, political figures and commentators on both sides of the aisle, were primarily focused on Carr's scathing commentary and statements like how he'd revoke ABC's license if they didn't do something about Kimmel and threatening other channels similarly.

etc etc

I'm with you, no one even knew about TPUSA until 2 weeks ago. CK was a podcaster first, he was known for his YouTube channel. TPUSA was just the LLC to get donor funds officially with some tax benefits, not like some Red Cross style organization

A bit of a hot take. I think the fcc chaired played his hand to much. He didn't do anything he didn't call abc or remove him but he should have just said we will investigate. Then abc made a business decision to pull Kimmel off air after the affiliates did. He will have decent ratings tomorrow due to controversy and social engagement. But after a week or two ratings will drop to their previous levels.

Plenty of people knew about Turning Point before two weeks ago.

Agreed, he didn't need to go on the podcast and say that, but likely it had no real effect and was going to happen anyway, both of the broadcasters seemed genuinely annoyed. Speaking of ratings, all of this needs to be compared against the ratings the show got, that's just the reality. If he got millions of views the show would have kept going with a slap on the wrist. At 120k or whatever he is getting well...

His ratings won't be good if people can't see the show

"Regardless of ABC's plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform."

"Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue."

For Kimmel's return night. Instead of him, Trump should step out instead and host the show for the nights. It be legendary
