I don't understand the hate for PS5, I completed InFAMOUS Second Son on it and it was great
I wont lie I thought the mention of beating some old 3rd party game was funny. In the end though I get his point and overall agree. If I was someone who had a Series X and wasn't online I would be having a blast with all the games coming out right now.
Technically I was with the Dreamcast. I loved that machine and had no idea that Sega was dying or even that Sega left the console business.

Someone else already mentioned the Ambassador program, but it's also more direct than that too. A good example is when Florian Mueller was outed here during the ABK acquisition. Before that happened, he was always pro-Xbox but in the most obnoxious and fanboyish way too.
A shill is someone who receives payment or goods, right? We don't really have any good examples for Sony or Nintendo, but we do for MS. As well, they have a history of astroturfing and FUD. It's fine when it's subtle, but it isn't with their gaming division anymore. That's what people don't like and it just creates a feeling of distrust for the brand.

Worked overtime during the abk acquisition like there life depended on it, going as far as to attack regulators who didn't want the deal go through, even suggesting repurcussionsfor countries that didn't allow the deal through.
All of them empowered by Microsoft execs of course.

Otoh, it could be echo chamber effects. Many of the dedicated Xbox guys I know live mostly in Xbox-centric circles, protected from the "hate" (i.e., information that might upset them). They live in a bubble, and so they're surprised by the negativity in more general forums.

some of the executive keep throwing empty promise, 'rallied' together with fans before U-Turn their statement, playing a good guy online PR narrative against competitor despite wether it is right or wrong before gonna do another U-turn over it, contradict their statement and action against their own products and most importantly just tons of talk with no visible action or results. experts or developers voice get brushed out. rather than speak out what or when neccessary, lot of fans just evangelize it. some of those who speak out get branded as 'haters'. we can see where they end up today. then fast foward someone asked why 'everyone' dislike Xbox lol.

Competition is a good thing for consumers, which is why - even though I personally tend to favor Sony consoles - I hope that MS stays in the console market. I don't think anybody wants to see Sony start acting like they did in the early PS3 years, which is likely to happen if MS isn't around to keep them at least somewhat in check.

I use to be a big Xbox fan. It was my primary console through the 360 days right up through the One X. However, when Microsoft made it apparent it intended to shit all over its fan base I jumped ship. I sold my Series X and will never again support Xbox Hardware. For me the hate is more because I was dumb enough to support it all those years, even though the "wait until next year" phase beginning about 2018. Shame on me. As cliche as it sounds, Microsoft cares more about corporate profits than anything else. It will not hesitate to cut off one of its own limbs to increase short term profits. The writing has been on the wall for several years, but the most recent price hikes of GamePass should be enough to convince even the dumbest person of how foolish it would be to support any form of Xbox hardware.

Really sad how both Sony and Microsoft both finally put out awesome hardware with few compromises and collectively shit the bed when it came to actual games. Microsoft just screwed up a bit worse and has been signaling that they don't even care about consoles for a few years now, making people skeptical of their comittment, especially considering their track record in other business sectors.

Hardware is fine. Except if you own a Series S, that's a bit crap, or if you bought the X360 in the first year's with no Wifi, no HDD and the Red Ring if Death.
Aside of that, fact it's always been an also ran. In PS2 generation it was fine but missed many games or got them years later,. In PS360 Gen it started out strong with a year advantage but the latter half of the generation was iterations of Forza/Gears/Halo and Kinect crap, and then things got real bad with Xbox One, more expensive and less powerful than PS4, sub-HD ports of so many games, less games, no exclusives, redundant because day one on PC, and at the end of generation the GP. This last service has been divisive, with it MS tried to disrupt the market and destroy the value of the Premium market where PlayStation and Nintendo reign to change it for a Netflix of videogames, it's users like it (with tricks they have been able to have it fir spare change for years) but many others saw a serious threat to the industry and disliked it and the corporation and hardware that was pushing it.
Here in Europe I don't think people hate it, simply ignore it and don't have too much interest on it, it's a Obscure and niche machine most people forgot exists. The Series consoles are great. Controller is fantastic. Game Pass can still be an option for those who would use it regularly. Now, you have the option to a handheld that has multiple store fronts.

The handheld doesn't run native Xbox games, doesn't have Xbox OS but Windows , and allows emulation of other manufacturers so piracy. It's not a console but a handheld Windows PC.

Correct, but x360 was wildly popular in Eastern Europe thanks to primitive ways to enable piracy and MS failed to capitalize on that success, initial Xbox One push was stronger than expected because of it here.

I don't hate Xbox as a brand, or as consoles. I've had 3 out of 4 consoles they launched, including the Series X.
However, I do hate Microsoft and what they slowly did to this brand that made have so much fun in the Xbox and Xbox 360 era. It's hard to trust Microsoft after what they did/are doing since the Xbox one.

I don't put the blame entirely on players. Xbox puts zero effort in PR, always drops bad news in concentrated batches instead of hushing it down.
