What the hell did they do to Lara Croft?

If u talking about cataclysm game- i totally agree- its trailer looked "modern audience" feminism up in this bitch, atlantis one aka reboot made by polish devteam will be fine.

Yep, Catalyst was pure CGI and still looked worse than in game footage from Atlantis, lol. CD game will probably be full of propagand, I hope I'm wrong because it's one of my favorite series...

But at least we get proper TR game next year!

Face it you guys only like porcelain plastic surgery south korean wannabe whites.
And Sydney Sweeneys tits.

I think we are all universally agreed on liking the Atlantis model for Lara. Why not just use that same model for Catalyst? People that are at peak fitness with exercising and nutrition, appearance do not change that drastically in even ten years. She all of the sudden goes from having a rounder softer face while being a peak athlete gymnyst to now having a sharper more angular face?

The other shot of her looks better, but I agree she looks like crap in the very first shot of her in the trailer. I think this might have been an outsourced CGI trailer and doesn't represent her actual look in engine, so we'll see.

I just assumed from Catalyst's trailer that we were seeing a much older Lara, like... 50. Because I know some fit women in their 50s that are into exercise and nutrition and look about like Catalyst Lara does.

Seems odd to me that they would jump that far into the future with her age. Poor choice in my opinion. Its gonna be dumb if we find out this is her in her thirties and Atlantis is in her twenties. Lara is supposed to be peak human like Batman and Lady Shiva.

I thought she looked very fitting, very similar to how she looked in the recent games, if not a bit better.

I feel like people would've complained about Lara Croft's appearance regardless of what she looked like. It was just unavoidable. Especially nowadays.

All things considered, I thought where they landed was solid. But I guess you can't make everyone happy, but I also feel like people just love to complain at this point, lol.

Yeah it looks like they aged Lara a bit. If you guys thing that's ugly though.....wow. Is it because they downsized her tits? Some of you just need to step away from video games because you clearly are just looking for things to be mad at.

I don't know what those dumb fucks who made The Catalyst were thinking, but as I said before, The Atlantis Lara is beautiful. She's already repaired the image that the previous trilogy destroyed.

This has been my take as well. By catalyst she's clearly already a legend which means it's gotta take place well after the original series.

What the hell is this? Who is this person?

I showed these two photos from the trailer to my wife, who is an artist. The first thing she asked was "why did they make Lara Croft into a dude?" The size of the hands are mis proportioned for a female, as is the height of the forehead and the jaw line in the second photo especially. I asked what she thought this character's age was based solely on these two photos, she said "late 40s, maybe early 50s, but with some cosmetic surgery done". She then wondered why a game studio would be so averse to money that they'd result to butchering an iconic character and turn her into this.

She is not bad, she looks far better in "normal life" and other roles than in Stranger Things.

Her eyes are too high which in turn make her lower face looks too long, shorter face or lower eyes is the only fix.
As for this Lara, she looks overly airbrushed

That is exactly what happens and it's why a lot of people warn against buccal fat surgery, because that fat is naturally supposed to go away as a person ages which results in their facial features slowly becoming more sharp and angular.

Thats odd because even the most athletic people i see as they age it becomes much harder for them to keep a lower body fat percentage resulting in their faces and bodies being chubbier no matter how hard they work. Your facial skin also starts to lose elasticity with older people getting facelifts and all kinds of other procedures in an attempt to have the appearance of tight youthful facial skin.

There's so many unaccounted for factors here. It depends on the calorie surplus or deficit, it depends on their workout consistency, it depends on if they're still trying to workout just as hard in their 40s and 50s as they did in their 20s (usually people have to cool it down). I don't know who you're looking at or what they do, but there are moments where buccal fat could remain if that's truly the case. When someone is staying in decent shape their whole life, what usually happens is a very slow, gradual change of buccal fat in their face and it can appear very subtle, like many other features that change.

Take Michelle Yeoh:

You can see the subtle changes in her face shape, and the lips can sometimes thin out a bit too.

This weird thing where some hollywood actors are looking exactly the same for decades has been relatively new, and it does make me curious how they're going to age once they enter their late 50s and 60s.

Yes but the elasticity change also usually happens more drastically later on near the 60s and up age. Plus that is separate from buccal fat or fat gained by weight gain.

Regardless, I'll leave it be after this post. I'm not the aesthetic-type when it comes to games and I don't really have a stake or strong feeling about the devs wanting to make Lara appear more seasoned and older like others here. I just wanted to help clear things up about facial aging and why her TR 1 Atlantis face wouldn't make sense on a 40+ year old.

I think we've seen Lara's entire journey at this point and some of the rumors are saying that this latest game is trying to merge the timelines between the Original, Legends, and Origins (2010s trilogy), which would mean her age should be as high as they're presenting it to be (arguably it should be higher).

I think it was a mistake in letting go of the Legends idea of making Lara feel more like James Bond, because then that would make her more timeless rather than aging along with her audience and it would also expand her to being more than just a treasure/legend hunter.

Instead they are potentially insisting on there being some sort of timeline for her many adventures, which means that anything new with a younger Lara has to make sense within the origins trilogy and original series.

So you're saying Lara is in her 40's in Catalyst?
I'm going with it's just bad CG
