I agree he could have done it better on Greenland. But Trump is different than most people. He doesn't act like people expect or have in the past. You take the good criticize the bad. But even the EU president called him Daddy.

Zelensky is a terrible leader, and the US was foolish to back him years ago. the Ukraine betrayed the US when they used the aid we sent them to fund their minister and launder it through their government. Ukraine betrayed Ukraine. US sent them billions, the leaders of the country stole a great portion of it. I mean they were giving kickbacks to Biden's son. They screwed themselves. You steal billions from the US, you don't deserve to continue to steal from the US.

Well most people would agree with the eradication of the Iranian caliphate. But I bet the mayor of London doesn't, we know the mayor of NY doesn't, and I am sure all the kids named Mohamed in the UK do not.

No one has to put up with an idiot for a leader. And Trump is a complete idiot.
And only a complete idiot would threaten to invade an ally.

Zelensky did a much better job at defending his country than anyone else expected. Considering how bad Ukraine was, even before the war, it's a miracle it's still standing.
All credit has to be given to the Ukrainian people and Zelensky, for such a brave defense of their country, against a much larger country.
You want to pretend that Ukraine is some vast corruption pit, as to justify cutting of assistance. But the reality is that it was overblown by Russian media.
Russia is a thousand times more corrupt than Ukraine and that as been a blessing in disguise for Ukraine and it's people, as it hampered the Russian military capabilities.
And don't forget that Trump might just be the most corrupt POTUS in US history. So pointing the finger at others is just precious.

If you have seen any of my post in this thread, or any similar, you will find that I'm one of the most critical persons in this forum of Islam. And I have been a strong supporter of the elimination of the Khomeini regime.

Because the Ukrainian conflict provides the most benefits to Europe - due to Russia stuck there they can take their sweet time militarizing themselves while also making USA spend missiles, money in Ukraine. Keep in mind that until recently they were buying Russian resources directly and indirectly.

The Ukrainian conflict benefits no one. Not the EU, not Ukraine, not even Russia.
It's a catastrophe for all involved.
What is also a catastrophe is that the USA, with the current administration, refused to keep their signed promises to protect Ukraine , if they gave up their nukes. Which they did.

Yet the chinese investments have been creeping in..
Just like with South America, Panama etc.

The Chinese invest everywhere. Even in the USA.
That doesn't mean that Greenland was about to turn into a Chinese ally.
That is a completely stupid argument.

And Diego Garcia is an american base...Did not stop UK from selling the islands because UN told them that.

It's British territory and they can do what they want with it.
And it's not like the USA doesn't have other bases in the region.
Besides, the USA could easily get a deal with Mauritius to keep the base there.
In case you didn't know, Mauritius and the USA have good relations. And would probably welcome having some extra military protection from the USA.

The same allies that has been buying Russia gas for years?

There is no reason to act as if EU is some innocent player here, a force of good or something.

That the EU fell for Putin's trap with his cheap oil and gas is not a betrayal to the USA. It was stupidity and greed.
It's not like the USA had imposed sanctions on Russian gas and oil and the EU was breaking them.
Everyone knew what about the deal and went along with it.

I don't think you can call him an idiot. Narcissist sure, but an idiot, no. Boris Johnson played aloof, but was he really. Trump has a public persona that he uses. And he has used it effectively. I think America is in a much better geopolitical position today than they were on Friday. China has no cheap oil supply anymore. US has full control over the Petrodollar now. The two threats to that interest Venezuela and Iran have been removed. Tariffs have not bankrupted the country or the world. (there has been a cost of good increase in the states). US industry has some growth, Our allegiance in the middle east is stronger, allegiance with some Europe is weaker, Italy seems pretty cool with Trump. UK will come back, France will too. Germany is trying to get there. South American control is at an all time high. Narco Terrorist are being killed regularly, and Argentina loves the US. There is a lot of work to do, but e have a whole party that hates the people that built the country. It is a tough world out there. And it is governed by the Use of force.

It does not need to but just like Panama - it is enough to become an issue for USA. Certain interests you have to protect - whatever the costs. Let's say China blocks the Panama Canal. What is going to happen next? It is the same reason why the stability of all those straits in ME is important.

It's British territory and they can do what they want with it.
So see the problem with Greenland? Next time Canada will decide to build a chinese military base in Ontario undermining the whole NORAD for example.

That the EU fell for Putin's trap with his cheap oil and gas is not a betrayal to the USA. It was stupidity and greed.
"Poor EU fell for Putin's trap". Yeah, right. Poor poor Europe. So naive and stupid for not paying for NATO, while asking for defense from Russia while also buying Russian resources...EU was neither naive nor stupid. All of it was deliberate.

People have to understand that until 1990s, the whole was running with 2 competing blocks - the whole was split. Then between 1990-2000, it was only USA-led world. Post 2000s everything started to fall apart with bureacratic machines of EU, NATO trying to take over countries undermining tons of other countries and pushing ideologies.

You should understand that the countries and blocks are not naive or stupid. Everybody is just opportunistic and use the leverage where they can.

Boris Johnson is a very intelligent and educated person, despite his attempts at playing aloof.
I found out when I saw him argue with Mary Beard, about which civilization was more influential, Greece or Rome. And although he lost, he stood toe to toe with her.

Trump has no idea of what he is doing. He has no knowledge or skill for international relations.
And that is why he has fractured century old alliances that the USA built at the cost of a lot of blood and money.
He is not some hidden genius. He is an idiot stumbling along.

It was never an issue. Greenland was a USA ally. So so was the rest of the EU. And especially the UK.
It took Trump to break that trust.

So see the problem with Greenland?

Greenland is a sovereign country. Not some lost Island at sea.
And again. you forget that Mauritius would very likely accept continuing to have a US military base in the Island.

"Poor EU fell for Putin's trap". Yeah, right. Poor poor Europe. So naive and stupid for not paying for NATO, while asking for defense from Russia while also buying Russian resources...EU was neither naive nor stupid. All of it was deliberate.

Yes, for a while it seemed possible that the EU and USA could convert Russia to be a democratic state, a reliable trading partner.
Putin started to chow his hand in 2014. But it was in 2021 that he really showed what he really wanted.

The current UK government has an Islam First agenda both at home and abroad. It is completely captured, both electorally and through fear of violent reprisals. Its actions make sense once viewed with this in mind. I doubt it would have made a difference even if servicemen had been killed in the attack on Akrotiri, so long as they had only been British.

What is also a catastrophe is that the USA, with the current administration, refused to keep their signed promises to protect Ukraine...
You mean the Obama and Biden administrations right? Those being the administrations in power when Crimea was captured and when the full invasion of Ukraine was launched, both without prompting a US military response.

Greenland is a sovereign country.
No, it isn't.

you forget that Mauritius would very likely accept continuing to have a US military base in the Island.
"Very likely". Mauritius has been trelationship with China for years.

Yes, for a while it seemed possible that the EU and USA could convert Russia to be a democratic state, a reliable trading partner.
Nobody truly believed it. The early 2000s was actually an interesting period in Europe where there was strong mafia ties between Putin, Schroder (Germany), Sarcozy (France) later (with Medvedev being a puppet of Putin), Berlusconi (Italy) and such. It was all about interests. Attempts to establish "democracy" ended during 90s in Russia.

"Very likely". Mauritius has been trelationship with China for years.

BTW, how do you think that Mauritius could force the USA to remove the base from the Chagos Island?
The reality is that not only they have good relations with the USA. But there is nothing they could do to remove the US base.
So the Diego Garcia base, in reality was never at risk.

Yes, corruption also played a part.
But that was not a betrayal of the EU against the USA. It was just business with Russia. Bad business.

The whole of NATO was the defense against Russia. Yet you have 40% dependency on Russia with resources and such. What an odd thing to do. It is always about interests. EU had a very convenient stance.

Similarly how Spain asked USA not to use their airbases and USA relocated to other bases?

You might not remember this, but for the late 90s and 2010s there were serious talks about dissolving NATO, because there was no more Warsaw Pact.
Everyone thought that Russia was on it's way to reintegrate with the rest of the world.

Similarly how Spain asked USA not to use their airbases and USA relocated to other bases?

That happened after Trump threatened to invade a European country.
When a country threatens to attack an ally, other countries start to deny certain things. Who could have guessed....

Quick question, how did Ukraine do such a good job defending their country again? Oh, yeah, with the billions of dollars they got from Uncle Sam. Ol' Zelensky was here quarterly sucking the dicks of the politicians begging for more money. Without the billions from the taxpayers of the USA, Ukraine would have fallen in a couple of weeks. I am not saying what Russia did was right; it wasn't. But the Obama Administration is what started it in 2014.

Renegotiate use of the base? RAF Akrotiri is on sovereign British territory. It's not a case of the UK operating out of there with permission.

That said, there is Starmer's allegiance to consider.

So Marco Rubio is saying - Israel was going to attack Iran, in retaliation Iran would have targeted the U.S., so the U.S. decided to go ahead and attack first but Iran still started this.

Most of the money you talk about was in goods. Mostly surplus equipment in US storage.
But it's good that you remember that for a while the USA was keeping it's promise to protect Ukraine against Russia.
Only recently has that been broken.

Obama didn't invade Ukraine. It was Putin.
And no one did anything against it, asides from a few sanctions, which in hindsight was a serious mistake. One that the Ukrainians are paying for dearly.

Spain had plenty of left wing governments before. Don't try to make stupid excuses. We all know the reason why Spain refused the USA.
Not every left wing government is the same left wing government. We see - across the world - that there is a mass radicalization happening due to heavy polarization.

The saddest part is that most of those deaths - if not all - happened at the bases or in the hotels. Probably could be avoided even.

WTF, they are a center left government. Not Stalin or Mao.

Situation in Spain is quite different. It's not so related to the leftist-ish posture our 'beloved' president has assumed. In fact, he is a man surrounded by corruption (brother, wife, and so on) right now, so the only way he can divert attention is by setting himself up as the beacon of hope for the so-called 'free world'.

Truth is, If we can get rid of him - in a political sense - he will end up like Sarkozy: locked up in jail, since there are several prosecutors eager to get his 'handosome' azz now.

No idea at all! That's why the Abraham Accord happened, and currently all of the ME countries that, in the past, may have loved to see this war as an excuse to wipe out certain other countries, are now fighting with he WEST against Iran.

But yeah, none at all.

Europeans live in an bubble of hubris attached to a whole bunch of ear plugging to get their opinions. Just flat out ignoring facts.

The Ukrainian conflict benefits no one. Not the EU, not Ukraine, not even Russia.

That's it! Winjer has more Intel than the US intelligence does. China wasn't going to use Greenland for anything - winjer said so! We are all safe!

Seems like they might need help then, cant make good decisions. They might need someone better in charge. Someone who doesn't fall for bad deals. Someone they called... Daddy.
You might could say, they may even need some...

Freedom.

Putin has been publicly saying Ukraine is not a real country for ages.
This is the same speech that Hitler gave to justify the invasion of Poland.
It's textbook dictator stuff.
Lots of leaders say lots of things all the time. Again, though, you keep skirting around why Putin invaded.

Quick question, how did Ukraine do such a good job defending their country again? Oh, yeah, with the billions of dollars they got from Uncle Sam.

Shhhh.

No, no, no! The US does nothing for Europe. While they continue to falter paying for their own defenses, poorly arming their selves, having their rights eroded from Global Whoring and, the icing on the cupcake - directly funding Russia - the US has been such a horrid ally because...

*checks notes*

  • we tariff now like everyone else in the world.
  • T-dawg can be a meany with his words
  • Oh, and we don't want to be attacked so #greenland.

    Seems like a reasonable argument!

Lots of leaders say lots of things all the time. Again, though, you keep skirting around why Putin invaded.

Because those arguments are non-sense.
For example, there was never a promise that Ukraine would remain a Russian satellite state. And most important, there was never any signed treaty saying that.

And Ukraine is a sovereign country. It doesn't belong to Russia. So if the people voted to get stronger ties with the EU, that is their choice.
During all these decades, after the fall of the USSR, Ukraine remained close to Russia and because of that, it stayed underdeveloped, poor and with high corruption levels.
The Ukrainian people voted on a government that was to pursue a closer alliance with the EU, as to improve it's future.
Just consider that Poland and Ukraine had similar economic levels and population, after the fall of the USSR.
Poland joined the EU and opened to the rest of the world, including the USA and prospered immensely. While Ukraine remained poor and underdeveloped.
If any of us was in the position of the Ukrainian people, we would also vote for a government that wanted prosperity and freedom.

But here is the thing you miss. The EU, nor the USA invaded Ukraine. Ukraine was the one that wanted a better future for itself.
And it was Russia that invaded.

The other thing you forget is what Putin says, such as quoting Ivan Ilyin and Dugin.
This is a man hellbent on restoring the glory of the empire. Of the USSR.
Even before the invasion of Ukraine in 2014, he had already started expanding by invading Georgia. Of which it still holds a part of it's territory.
The invasion of Ukraine was always in Putin's plan.

No one is ever going to admit they were the ones that did it, though apparently the Ukrainians got pretty close
I doubt they will confess in the near future, but the Germans have apparently uncovered the entire scheme and arrested a Ukrainian suspect last year. The only question that remains is whether they planned it themselves or with someone's help.

Lots of leaders say lots of things all the time. Again, though, you keep skirting around why Putin invaded.
NATO didn't beg Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary in the 90s to join the alliance.
These countries, knowing Russia very well, were desperate to join NATO, who could blame them? Just look up Georgia and Chechnya war crimes in the 90s plus Russia's whole history lol.
