Max Payne 3 PC Features Detailed.

I hope they add some dev cam or replay mode/editor like they did with GTA4. Or at least some modders make some mod to let us do that. Capturing footage of campaign in other views would be awesome and the multiplayer seems like it would be amazing for machinima use.

Just installed the new Nvidia driver.

My bullets are ready.

God damn at that size. I have to share a 250GB monthly cap with two other people now. They're clueless about that and hardly use it enough to worry, but that'll take a long-ass time to get. I don't want to pay $60 either, but good luck finding a retail copy once it's old enough for a price drop.

The pre-load period should be live now, seeing as the game unlocks in three days. I don't think R* realises just how large 35GB is to some.

Awesome I was wondering when it would unlock. I have fast internet and I'm still concerned about how long it will take (and Comcast's shitty soft cap).

They should have opened it last week, guess it'll be tomorrow - Steam tends to do Preloads Monday and Wednesday as far as I remember.

Yeah, I assume so, too -- though I had thought that the pre-load period would be much more generous given the size of the game.

If my sweet Australian internet was absolutely BLAZING LIKE MAD constantly, it would still take just under 120 hours to get 35GB.

I'm looking at a ~15 hour download as long as TPG doesn't experience another "third-party carrier fault".

Rockstar twitter says early morning hours, US timezone for the pre-load. So there is that I guess. Still very dissapointed that that is what they consider a "pre-load".

"Early morning hours US time zones, once final testing has been completed. We will be hard at work until then."

So in around 6-8 hours from now which leaves roughly 12 hours until unlock.

They really dun goofed

Yeah, they really botched this release so far. As long as this is a smooth "port" this will all be forgotten soon anyways. Thous this is a shame that this is happening.

Yeah, I'm glad I went retail too. I'll miss the steam integration, but it would quite honestly take me a good couple of days to download 35GB.

Anyone know when the protection on the retail edition unlocks? My retail copy arrived today, but they've made it so you need a release date patch to play it, preventing early leaks I guess.

I would love to know what they fucked up, the retail version had to have went gold like two weeks ago.

It was probably all in the digital distribution chain, how IronWrap handles Steam etc. that's my guess. Could imagine IronWrap requiring a different setup on Steam which gave them more work than they had anticipated.

As someone who's not into multiplayer, does this game have a reasonably meaty campaign, or are we talking a Modern Warfare type single-player experience here?

I'd love to get this game if I can sink my teeth into a decent campaign. Looks awesome.

So what does it matter you went retail then?

I pre-ordered a while back, but now I'm working when I wasn't intending to, and after that I'm meeting up with a couple of old school friends for a few days, not that I'm complaining. But the copy of MP3 should be waiting for me when I get back.

But with my connection I'd be waiting about a day or so when I got back to be able to play it.

It's supposed to be as long or longer than the first 2 Max Payne's.

or you could just start it today, set your PC to auto-shutdown and then come back next week where it's installed and ready - Unlike with a couple of discs where you have to wait at least 20 minutes for it to buzz through all 4 discs.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

Never got to play those, but I take it that's a good thing.

Who am I kidding, though. Look at those screenshots. I'll be getting this regardless.

I guess I was under the assumption you had played both games. Well, they both average between 6-9 hours give or take dependent upon a few factors(difficulty, player skill, watching in game tv.) But I've read that MP3 is a bit longer than that, closer to 8-12 hours. Don't know how much of a variable there is, but I imagine that's a pretty safe guess. I know a buddy at work has been raving about it, and I almost caved and bought the 360 version, but I held strong so that I could have the (hopefully)superior version.

Yesss, my Amazon copy is ready for shipping. Only reason I am going physical is the deal I got at 47 shipped. I hope they still give me the $10 credit I saw on the page.

Game's not available in my region on Steam. :( Can anyone gift it to me and I Paypal the money? PM me if possible.

PC enhancements to Visual quality

_____________________

8) Max Payne 3 on PC
_____________________

• Screen resolution is scalable, limited only by the player's machine.
• Triple and six head monitor support also helps to run higher screen resolutions.
• Various anti-aliasing options: MSAA 2,4,8X and FXAA or MLAA on CPU for integrated chips, Alpha Transparent Coverage Masks show better with higher MSAA levels.
• Scalable reflections with MSAA support
• Scalable water quality
• Scalable shadow quality, taking advantage of DX11/DX10 shadow filters.
• Improved screen space ambient occlusion with HDAO.
• Increased detail on both characters and vehicles, with DX11 Tessellation generally contributes to the overall higher visual quality.
• Scalable texture filter quality to further increase visual quality: anisotropic filtering up to 16 tap filter.

DirectX 11 supported features:

- Compute Shaders – HDAO/Blur
- Hull/Tessellation/Domain Shaders – Adding curvature to the character/vehicle models
- DX11 asynchronous resource creation
- DX11 self-managed resources. Provides system memory savings.
- Alpha Transparency Coverage Masks – When MSAA is enabled it helps the look of semi-transparent objects.
- Gather4 – Optimized Shadow Sampling / FXAA
- Geometry shader / Stream Output – Bokeh depth of field effect
- MSAA color/depth sub pixel sampling
- DX11 texture samplers

This is going to run like shit for me in DX11 I bet. Is there any way to not have to pay $60 for this aside from heading to Gamestop and trading in some games?

Game is 26.7 GB and Special Edition on 28.4 GB.

Gonna take me more than 100 hours to download.
Will get retail prolly. (Or May the Akademy wifi save me.)

Waiting to see its performance with a Phenom ii x4, 8gb ram and a 1st gen 560ti 1gb before I pull the trigger. Specs make it sound like there will be significant compromises (for me).
