Yeah, some TA mod/admin/whatever has been creating a bit of drama over there. Evidently, there's some ridiculous feud that's been going on between TA and Madfinger for a while. 'Tis a fun-as-hell game either way. Fuck 'em.
Drama between Touch Arcade and [insert developer here]? You must be kidding!

Maybe Madfinger started by way of a Kickstarter or something.

I want Scoundrel and Ridiculous Fishing already, ugh. Also, the Action Button game that's apparently coming out in the next few weeks. Has been a dry summer (and spring, honestly) for me on the iOS front.

Wow. I just looked at the Dead Trigger thread on TA and it's absolute comedy.

Well, just broke into Shadowgun. Very impressive, as are all the Madfinger games I've played. But it's not as fun for me as Dead Trigger, and I can attribute that almost completely to the controls. Though the controls are almost the same, they don't work nearly as well. My gun keeps firing off when my thumb is nowhere near the fire button. Cover is, of course, finicky, though that's common in a lot of cover-based shooters. It's a very cool game all the same. The first boss was a nice change, and the presentation is ridiculous for a game I paid a dollar for.

I knew about the first two but what's been shown of Action Button's next game? I've only seen vague mentions of it on their Twitter.

Burnout Crash! worth it?

Nope. Go buy 2 tacos and Jack in the Box instead. Seriously. Even if you don't like them and they give you diarrhea it's still better than what you get with Burnout Crash.

So how's FF Tactics. Is it like the GBA one? I liked that one a lot and would probably be something I'd like on my phone for when I have some time.

Space Miner HD is a dollar right now. Have it on my AppShopper from the NeoGAF list. Has something better come along in the same vein or is this still the one to grab?

If there was anything better out there it'd be all over the internet, because it'd have to be EXTREMELY brilliant. Space Miner is an awesome game, worth way more than just a dollar, absolute steal. You'll get LOADS of entertainment value out of it, trust me. :D

Okay Smiley, you win. I will buy it and add it to my growing backlog of dollar games that I most likely never play. Damn you Ascension...damn you.

I've given up on my backlog a long, long time ago. Space Miner was one of the games I actually played AND FINISHED (yes, I'm quite proud of myself) though, you should give it a start though, it's quite addicting. And if you don't wanna bother with new game+ then you can put it away after that ;)

How is Dead Trigger controls? is it comparable to the recent gameloft ones?

And that icade controller for iphone is out.

http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/retro-gaming/eeb9/

$70 lol.

I'll just save that money for my 3ds XL upgrade >.>"
I really want that, but it doesn't look like it would work with the Bumper case attached. That's enough to doom it, for me. I mean, who doesn't have a case on their iPhone?

That, and it looks a bit bulky. Ah well. I'll stick with Wiimotes and emulators.

Did you read the review at all? I stopped reading when they compared it to Epic Citadel. Fucking joke of a site.

And I think I'm going to re-buy Space Miner. I remember buying it when I had a 3GS, but I think the 4/4S Retina is only supported in the HD one?

it's an old game, so HD is probably ipad only. Pretty sure the iphone was updated for retina a while back.

Also real talk.

Madfinger's 2 samurai games > their recent shooters.

Opinions on the Cthulhu game? Not the new one, but the TBS game that went free here recently. Gave it a try last night, and I couldn't get into it. Just wondering if it gets better, or if my initial impressions are on the money. The controls are "meh," missions drag on, and the interface is ho-hum, though I do dig the way you can switch out gear on the fly.

I felt the same way. You are MUCH better off with the two Hunters games in the same genre.

Yep, I actually made a "Disqus" (I think that's what it is) account just to post a comment saying how bullshit the review was. Way more of a game than Epic Citadel. What a terrible review site. I still read their news/previews because it's the best out there, but they're bad for anything else.

Space Miner HD is iPad only.

EDIT: Derp. Missed above comment.

They have samurai games? I actually only own their two shooters, ahaha. I'm guessing they're probably on sale to promote DT as well.

And yeah, from what I can see, Space Miner HD is iPad-only. Not sure if the vanilla one makes full use of 4/4S Retina (though there is "Space Miner Blast", an "arcade" version that has Retina support).

Still digging CSR Racing. I've managed to hit Tier 4 without spending a penny yet.
I wound up deleting it. Couldn't really see how it was going to change beyond earn money, upgrade car, race, lose... repeat. Couldn't see it getting any more entertaining than it was, that was shortly after getting to the third tier.

I have a Regular Show case. :-P

I don't. Cases on iPhones are like burqas on supermodels.

funny enough, i have cases on my iphone BECAUSE i play games and this thing heats up like a motherfucker with anything 3d.

Like i said, Space Miner iphone DOES have retina support!

It doesn't change, I'm just easily pleased when it comes to bite-sized entertainment on the go!

(I say that, but I've put down Gravity Rush, Rayman Origins & MGS:HD to play this instead. Mental).

I saw with this game what happened to me with Power of Coin. Deleted before I could change my mind ;)

And chickdigger802, reinstalling now! And I think I'll buy that "arcade" version, too. If it's only space fights, it just means it'll be even more like Star Control 2. No problem with that.

I bought the second Madfinger samurai game, too. Looks good but haven't fired it up yet. Still having too much fun with Dead Trigger, funnily enough.

It's funny. I've finally worked out how to get majority of games working well on my PC (stupid Crossfire etc.) but I still spend more time playing iOS stuff. Pinball Arcade, Shibuya (ugh, so GOOD) and Dead Trigger are owning me right now. A Little Turbulence is a bit of fun, too.

After recently finally having bought Mass Effect 3, I find myself reinstalling both Mass Effect: Infiltrator and the Datapad app, LOVE how they connect to the game and can affect things like galactic readiness. I'm amazed that this didn't get more coverage, it's kinda simple but very much feels like the beginnings of something next-gen to be able to quit your game and then, in a way, keep playing it in totally different ways while on the bus or whatever (or on the toilet).

I play CSR still because the way you progress and take out the factions is reason enough to get to the end of the game, it has a very VERY lite story but it's more then a lot of F2P games give you on iOS, plus the drag racing is done really well.

Not bought any currency yet as i've had no need, there is a little grind but it's not that much a few races can't fix.

This is mostly OT but it has to do with the app approval process and it's pretty funny:

Here's Why It Really Sucks To Be An App Reviewer For Apple

Apple's app review process gets a lot of hate from developers and customers alike, but before you judge Apple's reviewers too harshly, consider what they have to put up with.

Mike Lee, a former senior engineer at Apple who worked on the company's Worldwide Developer Relations team, says that working as an app reviewer can be a lousy job for several reasons.

For starters, Lee says the app review team - like many of Apple's departments - is very understaffed for the task at hand.

"People have this idea that there are 100 people in India doing app reviews," Lee tells Business Insider. "It's just people in a building at Apple, and like every other part of Apple, they can't get enough really good people. Apple will not compromise the quality of its teams to fill it in. I promise you its a lot smaller than you imagine."

To make matters worse, Lee says the app reviewers are essentially tasked with managing a slush pile of apps. Yes, there are quality apps, but he says there is so much garbage that reviewers "may accidentally toss out the gem."

In fact, garbage may be putting it mildly. Lee tells us that app reviewers are frequently bombarded with app submissions that have pictures of male genitalia. And no, we're not talking about the occasional image here and there. Lee says that Apple's employees are forced to spend lots of valuable time "sitting there looking at things that may or may not be d*cks all day long."

Here's what he told Business Insider:

"It's a very serious problem, trying to filter out things that no one is there to see. Somebody has to sit there and filter out all those d*cks. You can't let all those d*cks get through. You have to err way on the side of safety. You have to have people sitting there looking at things that may or may not be d*cks all day long. Apple refuses to farm stuff out to massive groups of people. They insist on having actual smart, educated, well-trained people doing the job. So that means they have to have some of their actual employees sifting through a pile of d*cks."

This, according to Lee, is the real reason why Apple has such a strict censorship policy and blocks out any apps that can be construed as the least bit pornographic. It's not just Steve Jobs felt a responsibility to give users "freedom from porn," it's that Apple desperately needs a way to expedite the review process.

"The only way to deal with it is to set the bar so far away from d*cks so that even a picture of a cucumber gets blocked by accident," he says. "Because if you don't, you have people spending hours and hours of conversation on whether something is a pubic hair. It's a huge waste of time."

Yeah, the second one's much, much better, though the first is decent. But Samurai 2 is easily one of the prettiest games on iOS.

I am loving Nihilumbra.

It's beautiful and clever.

I'm curious to see what the twist is that will extend this into the claimed 10 hours of gameplay.

No news regarding Summoner Wars? :(

Gary Weis posted on BGG yesterday around 2PM PST that it's status moved from 'Waiting for Review' to 'In Review'...and historically it has been only a matter of an hour plus at the most for their other apps to be approved from that point.

Nothing has come back so far, though, and the last update he posted around 930 PST last night was :
An Apple tester connected to our server around 6pm Pacific, so they worked on it for at least 4 hours today. But we're still In Review, so it's highly unlikely it will be approved tonight. First thing Thursday morning seems like the best case at this point.

Hi there,

I would like to share with you my wife's last game. She did it alone.

PLanetDefenseForce.jpg

VIDEO HERE -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-mNS23bdTo

This game is like a mix of Missile Command and Space Invaders, with upgrades and so. The objetive is to survive 25 waves of enemies and has online ranking. Any constructive review will be welcome. Thanks!

Looks all right. What's the game's name?

Has that wanker Eli Hoddap or whatever he is called commented on the stupidly low review as yet? considering TA usually give everything a glowing review it's conspicuous to say the least.

It's sad that he feels the need to use TA as his own personal tool for E-hate.
