Zombi U pics + footage

Eh, this multiplayer mode has been in the game since the Killer Freaks From Outer Space days. In fact, that's what they showed off for Killer Freaks last year. I don't see how you can say it's shoehorned in or rushed.

You´re right.

But that means they had this whole time to make a proper local multiplayer mode, and did nothing.

Between this and the new MG Rising screens, is this bad gfx weekend?

Eh, they both look fine to me, even if Rising is a bit rough around the edges. Not really understanding the Zombie-U disappointment, appropriate expectations are key I guess. Either way it hardly looks offensive, and I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt considering it's a launch title.

A first person game in which you can possibly wield a fire arm... so are we going down the "why isn't there deathmatch!!" road again?

I can fully appreciate concerns about length, value, etc.

But this isn't Left 4 Dead. In fact, with the way it works, a lot of traditional, rubber stamped multiplayer modes seem like they'd defeat the point.

A Souls style asynchronous system feels as if it'd greatly benefit what the game is aiming for.

Holy fuck, just saw the CG trailer again after reading some of the commets here that there was a really nice detail of the survivors in each scene appearing in the next one as the attacking zombie. Its really is! The bus guy in the first scene attacks the mall lady and old man in trenchcoat in the next, those two then attack the man blowing up his head in the office, that man attacks the guy inside the car and falls off the tower bridge, then the guy in the car attacks the one of the queen's guards that appears turning into a zombi after the logo.
Brilliant and it explains so well the concept of the game, and I never notice until people here said.

Also I love the version of God Save the Queen they used.
Is that CGI trailer what we can expect from Xbox 3 and PS4 games?

Like everything else about the Wii U; Nintendo has no online infrastructure/strategy...

Looks like Xbox 360. Guess this confirms those rumors...

So much fail about this console... it's depressing.

:(

Guess that confirms it. Nintendo going third party because the video on YouTube made the game look bad.

Will this fucking company ever learn?

heh heh

Very, very interested to see how this does.

Generally speaking, horror-themed games are considered really niche so having this up front on a console launch (and a Nintendo console at that) should be a fascinating test-case.

The key problem is that a lot of people (apparently) really aren't into scary games; its less a question of violence than tone and intent. The trajectory of the Res Evil franchise into more or less a violent action-game (with monsters) is symbolic of this.

Personally, I'd like it to do well as it might breathe a bit more life into the genre, but I can't help but think its going to sell really poorly on the Wii-U due to it not meshing at all wiyth Nintendo's traditional audience's wants, and the feeling that the whole zombie-craze is finally running out of steam.

Huh, I actually have a different take on it. Maybe you're right that generally "scary" games are on the downswing, but zombies seem bigger than ever in popular culture. I could see this game doing pretty well by virtue of that fact.

If that depresses you, you need more things to worry about in your life.

Does anyone know anything about the story in Zombi U? I imagine there's some narrative with some end goal and I know there's a narrator, but we haven't heard anything really about the story yet.

I posted the pics to show the improvements in the game since E3 & were taken from a streaming video.

I guess I shouldn't take that reply seriously though since the last part can't be in the area of truth since not all the Wii U's features have been discussed in detail and there are a lot more third party games that haven't even been announced that will be there at launch.

If you want articles on your console - the perma death Zombie game will do the job nicely!

Nintendo just needs to 'merge' these things together with other games. Its the overall package their selling, not single games.

I thought this game had a sort of pseudo Dark Souls style online set up where people could actually leave notes and whatnot. Also, if you are scratch or something and turning into a zombie, you can have someone mercy kill you and take your stuff. Maybe I'm losing it.

Both of these things are correct.

So....why the hell does everyone keep saying there is no online element to this game?
KuGsj.gif

Well, there's a definite online element, but no traditional COD style shoot your online buddies multiplayer mode (at least to my knowledge)

It is what it is, though. And I like what it is.

Why don't they just record video of real hands and arms?

I've never seen it look right in a video game. Give up trying to recreate it in 3D.

because, beyond the fact that overlaid video footage would just look tacky as hell, you would also never see the hands and arms if they were "animated" realistically in a first person game. The FoV is just too small, hence FPS arm animators tend to go for visual impact and clarity over realism.

Haha, I'd love to see that question asked at a Ubisoft meeting and snapshots of individuals faces at the moment the question sinks in.

Wow, this thread turned to shit quick.

The game will be fantastic, as it's already showing much promise - both in graphics and gameplay. At worst it'll be good.

Looks good.

How anyone can say that this looks bad is beyond me. If running this smoothly and looking like this is bad, then I just don't know what to say other than "What a false ass opinion." or some other poorly chosen cluster.
