Harry Potter over Tolkien was a travesty. No Doctor Who is a travesty.
No Doctor Who is a travesty.
China's ceremonies were all about celebrating 5000 years of history, and I think the best parts of this opening ceremony were its focus on Britain's history (along with Rowan Atkinson). But I agree that Beijing's was much better, and that one remains a bit of an anomaly for being so damn entertaining, beautiful, and moving.I personally enjoyed beijing«s opening a lot more. For me the olympics are a time where countries and races are forgotten and it's the true ceremony of humanity. The beggining where they wre pretty much shoving britain down our throat was really underwhelming and put me off for the rest of the show really.
It wasnt bad, it's was obviously well planed and well executed, but I really think they could have done better. Not a fan of the music segment and the Torch really, I prefer the classic bowl torch![]()
Not a single fucking reference to Doctor Who?

Nowhere. They're going to leave it in the middle of the field with the flame turned on to max. The athlete who places dead last in every heat/final or who doesn't advance to the finals of any event will be summarily sacrificed via the flame to the Champion of the World to stay her wrath.wait. Where's the cauldron gonna go?
Beijing vs. London
Best opening ceremony?
Definitely Beijing by a longshot. But London is in the top 10 for sure.Beijing vs. London
Best opening ceremony?
I think Underworld did the music selection for the event.
The cauldron can't be there, right? I mean, people are gonna be throwing spears and stuff.
Now it's done, I will say the Industrial revolution was the best bit, with Branagh, the towers going up, those drums and then the rings...
"Spectacular, but somewhat long start to the Olympic games" - CTV's Brian Williams. :lol
Why wasn't the opening ceremony aired live in America? Or was it?

Beijing was way more creative and impressive IMO. London was still good.
