Loved it all pretty much outside of the arctic monkeys and the youf in luv txt spk bit.

I was wrong to doubt that they could pull off something impressive. Totally wrong.

It's difficult to sum up the ceremony. Some really good bits, although few and far between, some humorous parts (unintentional), some fun parts and some bad parts. For example, the Bond scene epitomised it:

Started very fun and then got cheesy with the poor execution (it was daylight in the helicopter but night in the stadium). The industrial revolution segment was well done I thought, but spoiled by the video montage that went on for far too long, and somehow, used the EastEnders beat. Too many pop culture references at the end made it feel like a music concert more than a ceremony.

Beijing will be remembered and London won't be the last city that will be compared to it, but overall I enjoyed the ceremony tonight; mainly because of GAF's interaction. If I had watched it on my own in a room, I don't think I would have

... which was lost on everyone outside of the U.K.
And a lot of the stuff was still pretty bad and didn't feel like worthy enough to grace the stage.

Nowhere near, Asia are asleep and USA time-delayed. Viewing figures are always inflated, this would probably be closer to 500m. The Beijing ceremony is the only event to ever get to the 1bn viewer mark.
 
Boring , only Mr. Bean part was fun. And the torch lighting was bland I expected the lit to raise in the sky.

Average opening , Beijing surpases it in all ways....
