America with the delay, living in their own world as always.

Ceremony was great, music part was the worst part despite the fantastic music. Great job GB and good Olympics to everybody.

Lmao. NBC is going to air it this evenign when most Americans are actually able to view it. How terrible of them, right.

+ music was fab

= most of the other stuff

- the torch lighting, let the superstars do it, not some fucking kids who have done nothing

Things that were missed:
* Tolkien
* References to the Celtic, Anglo Saxons or Britons.
* No King Arthur
* No Sherlock Holmes
* Freddie Mercury hologram

I didn't like the all family part, Who's the rap singer?

A lot of people seem to be getting pissed at certain things not being represented...which actually were shown and represented.
People too busy GAF'ing instead of actually watching what was happening?

Awesome opening ceremony. Well done Danny!

I love the bemusement at the NHS bit by viewers from other parts of the world. We love our Health Care System and we're super proud of it - of course we're going to show it off.

And the musical timeline was great. Was glad to see local boy Dizzee on stage.

Cauldron was awesome but surely they have to move it from the middle of the stadium at some point :D

Nice ceremony, but the movie and music stuff was mostly obscure and boring.

If Sweden has the games will Systembolaget make an appearance like NHS? lol

Torch lighting and Eclipse by Pink Floyd was perfect.

The music for the whole show was really spot on.

Good one, Britain! And you genius, Danny Boyle.

bbc news said an estimated 1 billion watched the opening across world

C'mon. I love that song. Maybe not so much when we hear it dozens of times per day, but I still love that song.
I got pretty sick of it in 2010. It was la chanson du jour for two weeks. I figured I wouldn't have to hear it again until now. :lol

Ah well. It's just for two weeks, but I'm surprised they didn't license something else since they're CTV.

Going to read through this thread to see the reaction. I personally really enjoyed that as did all of my friends I've talked to so far, the only weak part of that ceremony was the social media bit, although including Tim Berners-Lee was great, and "Hey Jude" again. The industrial revolution and final torch relay are some of my favourite moments from any ceremony that I've watched, inspired decision to let young athletes light the cauldron.
