The other competitors have just been better so far. No amount of pouting and posturing was going to change that.
Exactly. I wasn't arguing that.

The British athletes are content to roll over and do nothing. It's a god damned disgrace. I want them to win so god damned much that they'll push their bodies to the breaking point in order to secure a medal... because that is what it takes when competing against the best in the world.

I don't know if you can see the video outside the UK

I'm in the UK. Thanks.

Yes it is.

Not compared to football / tennis. Like i said, Germany has probably the best handball league in the world and nobody is talking about it. Even the NBA gets more exposure than handball here. It's mostly played in small citys / villages here and it shows. The average attendance in the HB Champions League last season was just around 5k.

My sports set up for this afternoon is working well.

I feel sorry for the indoor volleyball women. They get less publicity then the beach for really o reason and they have to play a whole lot more. Beach volleyball women should not be playing only best of 3 sets and to 15 points.

I can assure that indoor volley is much more important and popular than beach volley. The latter gets publicity only because of bikinis, but in the end it's just a nice diversion. Indoor volleyball is one of the most popular sport in the world, there's really no comparison.
As for the sets, well beach volley is more wearying, they are only two and they play outside in the sun. You never see tired players in indoor volley.

Anybody just watch that 400m swimming race?

Park just got disqualified for a false start and it didn't show jack shit on the replay.

Fucking rigged as shit.

Looks like Phelps and Lochte won't compete again with each other till the 200m IM. Lochte got 1st and Phelps 2nd in that race in 2011.

Can anyone link to where I can see the opening ceremony in full in HD? I still haven't seen it yet. Stupid NBC site has it split into a bunch of different parts because they're dunces and they take the rest of them down from youtube.

You are the only one comparing it to football / tennis.

But those are the most popular sports by far. everything else is relatively small, handball is the biggest of the remaining sports but basketball should catch it no time. I think the Euroleague already has a better attendance record. I just wanted to say that it would be really hard for handball to catch on in the USA, when most people in Europe dont even care about it.

Fuckin NBC. Are they trying to pass it off as live or are they making it clear that it's just massively edited highlights?

Korea forcing a 4th set against the US.

EDIT: Funny how there are always Americans in here thinking they are talking about stuff that they think is live. NBC does more damage to the Olympics than they do to promoting it.

Lots of sports smaller than football do very well indeed. Being the biggest isn't always the rational goal, and not being the biggest doesn't mean a lot of people don't care about it. The pro leagues have big fan bases, national matches are huge TV events here in Scandinavia, etc.

Not one god damned medal because too many of them have no god damned fire in their hearts. It's really starting to annoy me.

We should be wanting to smash our opponents and destroy them utterly, not hold their fucking hands and help them across the finishing line.

You know here at team GB we are just happy to be here, we gave it our all but you know 7th place is still pretty good, we just wasn't right on the day. Team GB just doesn't give a shit lol

you should watch it in 3D *.*

although it didn't seem like Clear HD for some reason. :\

The whole bikini-thing is way overrated. The boys get as much attention as the girls.

And about the popularity: Beachvolleyball is limited by the lack of courts worldwide. And still it has events like the Grand Slam in Klagenfurt - nothing in volleyball comes close. And no individual volleyball player will be as famous as beachvolleyball players like Walsh/May Treanor etc

It's stupid to say volleyball is better than beachvolleyball. People like different things.

I will never watch a volleyball match - but beachvolleyball is awesome!!

Which of the NBC stations was showing the replay of the swimming? I've got:

NBC: Vollyball
NBCSP: W. Soccer
MSNBC: Badminton
CNBC: Boxing

I think only NBC is delayed. But time zone might matter? West Coast here has swimming on NBC.

NBCSP is about to start Norway vs France women's handball. Supposed to be 2 of the best teams. I am stoked!
