Sports funding is a very strange beast.

We're hosting the damn Olympics but for some reason took away funding from our volleyball squad two years ago.

Seems like a common trend is to over invest in a few sports and ignore others.

I'm curious what actually inspired us to suddenly pile so much money into cycling. It's certainly paid dividends, but it seemed like such an odd direction at the time. Was it Chris Boardman?
